Hey guy where you located at. I need the best and your the best. Or help me answer a question I have a 2.7L in my magnum and what to do a swap for a 3.5L or a 3.6L the mechanics out here where I live don’t know crap. Help.
I am in the exact same situation. Just bought a 2008 2.7 with 185k miles on it. Exterior is perfect on vertical unfinished bon-do scratch on the trunk hatch. Interior 90% perfect. The leather on the arm rest is cracked to crap and it has no head rests other than that it’s A1. One month in and a piston rod is knocking. Literally broke my heart. It’s my 3rd Magnum. I got quoted 1,800 from my basic mechanic to fix it and 2,100-2,500 to swap the engine. Problem is he doesn’t do swaps. He also said the 2.7 was the worst engine they made and it’s a bit of a nightmare. He went to his dad who is the main mechanic of the family. He came back over to me and asked me if my car was doin 3 things. Slow to accelerate, showing the lighting bolt light, (which has to do with the throttle) and did it feel heavy/sluggish between zero to 60....I was like how the heck did he know all that I didn’t even tell you any of that, he said his dad heard the car when I pulled into the shop and knew exactly what was wrong.Used to have the same car, same year, same engine, he said he won’t go near that 2.7 which was an exaggeration but essentially he said the time and headache to fix it wasn’t worth the money for him. It was like listening to a guy talk about his ex wife! I desperately want to keep this car. Of the 3 I’ve had this one is by far in the best condition inside and out. If I get a 3.5 in it I’ll have it forever. I’m in Los Angeles where are you?
I owned and sxt with AWD same model with a v6. cheap interiors but a great body design. even with AWD it was too low for our winters. they should have designed the suspension like subaru when a customer bought an AWD version.
My magnum rt is a pain in the ass to maintain.. theres always something that needs fixing.😩 But can't complain..love this car. I remember when they first came out, almost every rap music video there's a magnum present with dubs. Even on video games 😄 pretty popular that time. I was always so amazed when i see one on the road. Told my moms back then im buying myself a magnum for my first car..she laughed and told me that " why do u wanna ride around in a hearse?"😅 I should have told her.." its a HEMI.!!" anyways.. great vid. ✌️👍
This engine is stupid EASY to take out and put in. No surprise it can be done in a day. Anyone at their driveway with a pair of jack stands and floor jack with less than 150 dollars of tools can swap a hemi. Pulling a transverse northstar engine and swap it with another in a day.....thats worth doing a video.
