stumbled across this video - just replaced the impeller on a hsq 165 .. still wouldn’t pull water until I saw you prime it .. i was like duh.. didn’t even think about it .. thought the motor was bad even after replacing impeller and motor still running - primed it and boom.. worked .. thanks a bunch! simple fix and I even think about. Almost spend $300 on another. Glad I did a little research. Do you happen to have the seal # for the big seal around big metal clamp?
I have Century USQ1102 5.6" Diameter Pool Pump Motor that is 1HP. It's about to die and it's been about year and half. It's very noisy and I don't like the reviews on it. Can I get the one in this video or can you suggest another one.
What is the name of the grey part you screwed into the motor to hold the wires in place? Thank you for this video. It’s the only one we found that matched my pool pump.
Thanks for the vid. I installed my motor 1.25 hp. It started working fine. I walked to the pool for a few minutes came back and the motor was smoking. Why would that happen?
each line...L1 and L2 both send 115 vac to each terminal therefore it gets 220-230 vac. Most of the time each phase...red or black is 115vac. Both hot and the ground carries the neutral load or unused voltage. if you have a 115 volts unit most of the time unless they wired it wrong will be black..(hot) and white (neutral) one wire, the black hot carries 115 volts ac.. the white is your neutral. which carries unused voltage back to the panel which in turn returns it back to the transformer... there ya go.. if you have whit enad black its probably 115. Set switch to 115 if you have green red and black,,, black to L1 and red to L2 switch to 220. If you have it one 220 switch and the motor goes slow when you fire it up it wont hurt it. It will only run at half speed because its only getting half voltage. If you have it switched to 115 and hit it with 220 your screwed and will smoke. So always , if you dont know , switch to 220 and wire that in. See if it runs slow. as a last resort....your welcome!
Hey Tom, I'm here and I'll bet you can't guess why. 🤣 yep you guessed it! I think you held the camera perfectly. How is this motor holding up now in 2022?
Hey thanks for sharing this info..Look like I need to replace mine so it’s either I do it or have someone take care of this so by chance can I get your pool svc name, would like to get a quote as I’m not too happy with our pool svc n looks like we’re in the same area and thanks in advance!
I love that you made the getting zapped noises. Me and my buddy did this every single time we'd touch a wire or terminal block.
We try to make it fun LOL
Great instructional video! Little less chatter would have been nice but all and all very good.
Thanks 👍
This helped me replace my pump motor. Just wanted to say thank you.
Thanks for watching I appreciate your comments and will make more
Thanks for the video! I learned how to wire my pool pump.
Glad it helped

Could be a bad motor, was it new? when my motor went bad it started smoking so....
@@TomLeeman I figured it out. It was set to 220V instead of 115v. Working perfectly now. Thanks for responding.

Cool video. What's the part # for the US Seal?
I’m not sure
PS-200
Interest of all that Custer you could explain how to do it
Thanks and thanks for watching
Would have been nice if they'd of told us a little about where the damn wires go n such..
More for entertainment than actual instruction
Is it normal for motor to be very hot?
Is it smoking?

We are in florida and my buddy did the work Sven Pools
Much appreciate that Tom - I’ll be giving him a call 👍
Damn hippies. Thanks for the video and I will not do Ancestry.com.
Would have been nice if they explained what they were doing instead of talking BS while they worked on it.
This video is mostly for entertainment purposes, but you can get a pretty good idea
less chatter....more instruction please... thx
If this one breaks Ill give u a call and well make a new video
The banter back and forth was super annoying. I had to stop watching.
Thanks I appreciate the constructive criticism
Got tired of the conversation...
Just explain what the hell your doing and why...way to long
good tip
