Thanks, that's valuable information. Yes, I definitely noticed the blurry resolution of those generated fills, and I'm really grateful to know why, so I can work around it.
Perhaps genfill will get automatic tiling added in the future. It's a technique used for generating higher resolution images with Stable Diffusion as opposed to upscaling, and it works really well as you found here with PS.
I was glad you mentioned the 'Relative' check box in Canvas Size. I was thinking 'but but but...' when you demonstrated the use of equations. I knew we could do that in some dialog boxes, but not all of them, and it is absolutely going to be a useful tool at times. I'd appreciate a quick demo of using an Action with this, as I can't think how you would tell the action where to make each selection. You could make an action to add the 1014 pixels to each side, except you would do it in one step adding 2028 pixels to the width leaving the direction (anchor) arrows in their default state. We have some handy scripting guys on the Adobe forums like Stephen Marsh, so I might run it by him/them.
I was thinking that the other day, I haven't tried it out myself, but I haven't seen many videos about the badly done ai it does......as a graphic designer, i felt that the ai, seems to be blamed, less sharp...noticeable for me, but i'm guessing 95% of people wouldn't really care. Great fix though.
@@jvat that option is not coming and actually I have made a behance account before with same email and when I click on behance it directly sign in to my old account
Definitely learned 2 new things. Didnt know equations could be used in input boxes and didnt know the resolution limitation for AI in PS. Thanks for both tips!
Thank you for producing these tutorials! Super helpful. I used the 1024x1024 technique, but I did notice a diagonal pixel pattern in my results that did not match the scene. Do you have a workaround?
I've been wondering about what creative ways there were around the low-res results, and had come across a similar process, albeit in a much more rudimentary way. Thank you so much for this!
I love that you mentioned the equations - it was something that i learned at my very first design job in 2003! Time flies, and i still use that knowledge to this day. Thanks for your helpful videos as always. It's crazy how much Photoshop has changed in the past 20 years and you help keep me up to date!

I've seen several posts 'talking about it' warning of the issue. Post beta this may be better than 1024. That said I do appreciate the post. Just kind of a pet peeve when folks exaggerate issues whatever the motivation.
all the AIs train on small images - 1024 is actually a lot larger than what we normally expect which is 512x512. this is really good info, Jesus - but don't expect that adobe will give you higher resolution generative fill. to do that they'd have to retrain the model on much larger images
Thank you for this! I thought I was imagining things (or doing something wrong - who knew there was a 1024 limit???) Also learned about the equations in input boxes. Thank you so much.
what if your selections are lower than 1024 but spread through canvas? What ive noticed is that the more you select the more blurry it gets.. so Im sticking to this method now! Thanks
Probably they would do the tile stuff in the future, or upscale stuff at the final image using low res as a base. they had an idea already to solve this issue.
Hello....Does Adobe save my pics on cloud if I use generative fill? Do I need to worry that my editing of pics of my client using generative fill is secure?
What if we want to use custom backgrounds images for composite we should need an option to load custom images in generative fill bar for changing the backgrounds !
This still didn't work for me. I was trying to use it on an image that was only 1500px across and trying to add on only 100 pixles, the generative fill still created a low resolution image.
It is 4 in the morning, on my timezone. I just woke up, open up my phone, look up at the notification, Tap on a random one, And finding this video, "Am I still dreaming right now?"
And how would you apply this when actually telling GFill to create some object that is supposed to be bigger than 1024. Not sure it will understand something like "Generate the top left quarter of a warship" (or whatever object).
how to achieve a 4k image from the get go ? I am trying to create a wallpaper for myself (the full image is created from my mind) so i am not adding 1024px boxes ? I am trying to create a galaxy wallpaper that is 8k using generative ai
When I use generative fill in 1024px selected area it still generates a much larger square, and selected 1024px square just getting masked inside of it. I'm still getting a blurry result. Maybe it has something to deal with canvas resolution (pixels/inch), I used 72px/inch.
Thats a really good comparison that up to this moment Generated Fill works like tiling. One 1024x1024px at one time - next. And that is with all the joy I got in this new game changing feature, a pain in the ass. You can't say otherwise: it is a HUGE disappointment. I really hope Adobe will fix this, soon.

Isn't it easier to use the "frame" tool, the effect is the same?
