First thing, have you noticed it's been a while guys? 😂 The big eeebs comeback on gmbn, prepare for it in the comment section guys 😅 Seriously my perfect ebike would be a light assist motor on a DH bike, everything else to me would be pointless, I know I owned a turbo levo for awhile and it was either too much or not enough, this spectral would clearly not be enough for me...😅
With the new "SL" ebikes using a range extender, does that not defeat the purpose ? You're looking at around 21kg ish which is lower end of the full fat ebikes ?
Good to see our "local" trails in GMBN😀 btw, a stack of stones visible at 5:55 is in memory of a mountain biker who has unfortunately passed away on those very trails.
I love the GMBN content, and always will. I do feel though, that EMBN is beginning to take over most of your vids. I’m not a bitter purist, however, I still click out of the vid whenever it’s an EMTB. Give me another 10 years and I’ll probably watch EMTB vids all day long.
Fantastic to see you guys ride the Golfie, was down in the tweed valley the other week but has been ages since was last at Golfie, Canyon spectral appeared to handle the Golfie well handy being able to add extra battery especially heading over to Inners trails then finishing at Glentress! Really enjoyed episode thanks Gmbn! 😁🤙
So it's a light weight e bike 18kg. How heavy with the range extender attached? Which you needed because the lightweight eeb couldn't give you a full day out ?
What is the weight of the Range extender with Cables? I assume around 2kg+19kg bike=21kg. Sorry I may be wrong, but where is the Revolution here? Cheers :-)
Thanks for review-I’m looking at changing my Trek Rail e-bike - it’s a bit of a beast and I think the riding I’m going to be doing, and have been looking looking at is the Golfie. Also the bike I’m looking at is the new Canyon. So.. your review was perfect..however..what I needed to know was how much can be done on the standard battery - I was hoping to get 4 or 5 climber ups at the Golfie on the standard battery - hopefully only using the add on battery for 40km + days. What was the state of your battery after the first day? How many times did you climb up etc cheers
Rich did say they were there courtesy of Canyon and it does say "In association with" in the video description, but they probably ought to have put some kind of e-banner on the video just to clear it was a product sponsorship.
I would like to see a video about the aspect of setting up suspension on a newly given bike for a review/preview. You both weigh similar. I would like to know all suspension dial settings you use (or used for these rides). These are eMTBs and you ride non E bikes more, there has to be a way you go around setting up compression and rebound quicker than any other mortal :) Or you just go with recommended and skill keeps you up straight.
As an American who first experienced Jelly Babies for the first time one year ago, that seems like the worst treat for a ride. The super dry powdered sugar coating, and terrible taste haha
Fantastic vid. The bikes look amazing but not my cuppa tea. Full power or no power make more sense to me. I'm building courage to try castle black next time I'm there. Love the reds up at spooky
GMBN will promote anything they are paid to, even if they have another channel specific to the bike….. I am just waiting for a Saudi bike manufacturer to make a bike from hollowed out goat shit and GMBN would promote it if paid enough.
Fundamentally wrong. Paid promo like this is one of the main things that keeps our channel going. We're able to bring you multiple free to watch videos per week, by undertaking projects like this, choosing who we work with and what we say. The subject is in the title, if you don't want to watch it you don't have to, but the presence of projects like this means we can create multiple other videos per week, some of which you may want to watch 👍
@@ashleynicholls9526 EMBN and GMBN although are associated, they have to compete with each other for viewers just as much as any other cycling channel. If GMBN doesn't diversify to keep up with the industry, they will fade away.
Both with range extenders?🤔 is that because you know the range will be rubbish😂 especially round there! Why do people keep bleating about e-bikes on gmbn?🤦🏼♂️ the whole point is this bike is very close to a normal MTB! Should we start moaning on embn if it’s not full fat ebike?🤷🏼♂️ there mountain bikes get over it!
These people complaining about ebike content need to cry less. They are all bikes and some people have certain issues preventing a "normal" bike to ride. Sure they can tune in to embn but trying to talk down to someone's choice in bike to ride makes you look silly
So every time I go riding I seem to meet someone who tells me that I need to buy an e bike, yawn. Now its even on the mountain biking channel, please stop proselytising.
The lines between mtb and emtb are very blurred these days. Light weight emtbs are not that different to regular mtbs so they belong on either channel. Some can be run with no battery installed. It's just another form of mountain biking after all. Gmbn is the cover all channel... everything from XC to downhill so its ok for emtbs and even gravel bikes to feature sometimes. A big proportion of viewers likely ride both mtb and emtbs, and even if they don't they are likely still interested or have aspirations to get an emtb at some point. These light weight options are a bridge to emtb for many people so the mtb crowd are the target audience for such bikes. Let's just love all off road riding... even on something unique like a Tern Orox electric fat bike cargo bike 😅
They are very clearly different. Embn try to get you to upgrade your existing bike to a newer one with a more powerful motor so you can put even less effort in. Gmbn try to convince you that there are e-bikes that don’t defeat the reason most normal bikers like to ride. When they’re doing paid promotions it seems one is an upgrade sales channel the other is a conversion sales channel.
It's inevitable they will merge at some point as E-MTBs are replacing regular MTBs. Regular MTBs are going to be very niche in a few years. I'd say around half the MTBs I see on the trails now are electric and it only seems to be increasing.
I know others agree because they always comment on anything with e-bikes. Thereby increasing engagement stats making it more likely the video will be made and that the algorithm will push it to them.
The technology is evolving, which is nice to see. I like the idea of an Ebike for additional speed and distance, but they are mad expensive so I’ll stick to my beloved shitty 90s kona that cost me £300 haha. I’m not sure an Ebike will give me much more fun, looks expensive and complicated to fix too, unlike the kona. Also noones gonna steel my bike don’t have to worry about sticking it in back of my car haha. All the fun value, non of the responsibility.
Loving the introduction of e bikes.onto this channel , like it or not but the old fashioned acoustic style bikes are in the old fashioned and out dated much like the people who still ride them🤷

Specialized launched the levo sl with the genie shock yesterday. It should also feel really close to a trail bike. ✌
This is my local, live 30 mins away from here.
Lucky! It's an awesome spot 😁
The sound made my daughter dance... nice vid guys !
With the bike turned off, how does the drivetrain feel? Is it more like the Spectralon while it is turned off or does it feel more like a non-emtb?
So it's a light weight e bike 18kg. How heavy with the range extender attached? Which you needed because the lightweight eeb couldn't give you a full day out ?
Early September and already seeing your breath as if it were winter, wow!
What is the weight of the Range extender with Cables? I assume around 2kg+19kg bike=21kg. Sorry I may be wrong, but where is the Revolution here? Cheers :-)
I guess the revolution is you drop the extender if its not needed and its a light-ish close to full power ebike.

@@Icamas or an add for canyon e-bike …..
Yes they will put any old shit on the channel now if paid
Or for few kg more you can have a big battery and full power motor of the new DJI/Amflow. Great place to visit for the weekend though.
I bought a rail about 2 months back. I almost bought the fuel exe. Love the rail, but that lightweight low power was amazing!
Beautiful trails and scenery. Thanks guys. I think this could be expanded upon, MTB travel vids showing parks and towns.
We love heading to the Tweed Valley! Where's the best singletrack you've ridden Jeff?
Nice Canyon ad. Shouldn’t there be something about product placement?

if this is an e bike it should be on the embn channel
Yawn yawn
No.
I agree, like putting a Segway on a hiking channel 😮
The usual lightweight Ebike where they don't give you the weight with the range extender on, so it's probably the same weight as a normal Ebike
Ive been looking at these what sort of range did you get from the battery?
Missing this place
Love the shots and the biking, but I think it should really be in 4k. It would take the videos to the next level. Love the vids though.
