- This Mid Century Modern house was designed by world renowned architect, and St. Louis local, Ralph Fournier in 1953. Fournier practiced contextualization in architecture by incorporating the natural landscape as an extension of the house's primary living space. His designs live on, well adapted for life in the 21st century.

Which room was your favorite? 😀
The livingroom with the horizontal shelves.
The master bedroom and entry
Carport. That would come in handy. Get rid of the fireplaces and the big windows.
The carport. A carport I could use. Throw away the fireplaces and do something about those big windows.
I love a mid-century house that hasn’t been ruined by renovation. This is a gorgeous example, too!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I grew up in this neighborhood! Passed by this house many times and never knew what the inside looked like. So cool!
We're so glad that we could share it with you! What an amazing neighborhood to grow up in!
I just love his tours. He knows how to use music in his tours without distracting our attention. Good job!
I get major Brady Bunch vibes from this house, especially that staircase.
Same!
Thank you Ken for allowing your viewers inside this mid century home that hasn't been remodeled there by destroying its ascetics .I am partial to clean and minimalist homes.
My pleasure!
-Ken
One of my favorites.
Very cool MCM house in Crestwood. Ceilings seemed so low in kitchen area and NO basement. I lived in StL for 25 years. You need a basement. Too many tornado warnings and actual tornados. Awesome ceiling light fixtures in a few rooms too. Enjoyed the tour. TY :)
Glad you enjoyed it! Being that the house is built into the hill, the utility room provides shelter incase of severe storms.
What a perfect little house!
Love those lights on pulleys!
What an amazing house, absolutely beautiful and I love the contemporary colour schemes- thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Also loving that cat sculpture, lol
I like the art piece hanging above the stairs.
That piece is really interesting!
Beautiful simle lines and great windows, love midcentuty a d the furniture
I loved this tour of this darling home! I love how they preserved the style and didn’t renovate it and make it boring! I love the architecture style so much! Also, fyi, clerestory windows are windows that are above eye level. The ones that you kept calling clerestory windows are at eye level, and are just nice regular windows. The windows that go along the roof line and create the interesting shapes with the geometry of the space could be referred to as clerestory windows, though. 😊
Glad you enjoyed the tour! Thank you for clarifying that!
Beautiful mid century home. Nicely renovated in keeping with the era.
My home was built in 1955 and has the similar straight lines, oak flooring, flat roof etc.
Thank you for sharing!
Loved the ceiling light fixture in the loft work space. Also liked the wavy table lamp in the master.
Exquisite use of varying ceiling heights to delineate separate spaces.
💚
I enjoy your commentary.
Thank you!
-Ken
Love this house Ken
Glad you enjoyed it!
My favorite was the home office. When can I move in?
Wow!
Went to the Open house amazing house!
It was so incredible to see in person, we're glad you had the chance to see it for yourself!
I want that black MCM house next door!
Mid Century Modern homes have this interesting and weird styling that I like. A unique home that will be enjoyed by any buyer.
Beautiful property my kinda style. Thanks for sharing
“This is not like anything we’ve ever seen before“ except for the fact that the stairs look nearly identical to the stairs on the Brady Bunch.
Was there a dining room or dining area other than the kitchen peninsula?
I love this house. Good show. Thank you 💚🙏🏼🇺🇸
I hope to see more MCM houses from you guys!
Wow looks cool and fun 🤩🙂 I would add lights strips and color changing light 💡. In the light fixtures. To add an extra fun 🤩🙃🙂
Nice, if you like the outdoors!
I've partied in this house! I have some stories...
Seems like a great spot for parties!
Omg is that a vintage st Charles kitchen??? Were those metal cabinets??
Aj thomas , i also would be interested in the kitchen and cabinets .Hope we get an answer .
@@mikebarry1514 the handles were an exact match to the ones in an amazing house in okc with a vintage st Charles kitchen! It's a private home but it should be a museum. I hope the new owners don't "moderize" the kitchen
I don’t think those cabinets were metal or had the kind of original hardware that would have been in metal cabinets. They look to me like white wood cabinets custom designed to evoke that feeling and even the hardware suggests the same vibe as the old, original style hardware from metal cupboards.
@@Lucinda_Jackson sadly, I think they were NOT though those handles look exactly like the the vintage St Charles ones. I think had it been original he would have said so also white wasn't super common. The ones in the Warren House were a light bluish-green with a chrome edging and a yellow countertop. It sounds terrible but it was AMAZING
We were not able to confirm if they were St Charles Cabinets or not, we had our suspicions, but did not want to misspeak. It is VERY possible that they are.
What is the color of the exterior paint please.
Thank you for a video about a normal attainable house
Is there a dining room?
Like many of Fournier's homes, it was designed with an open concept so that the living and dining area shared the same space.
Not for me but you presented it very well!
Don't understand the need for the outdoor shower. Is that to wash off before entering the hot tub? Can't be because of becoming grimy due to working in that tiny garden!
I guess to be naked and one with nature! The hot tub and open shower probably came later in the home's life.
Definitely that kitchen would need renovations
Anybody else getting Brady Bunch vibes from the staircase?
WHAT IS THE COLOR OF THE OUTSIDE OF THE HOUSE ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????AND SOME PLACES INSIDE
We aren't sure what the exact color is, but it is a very dark grey that pulls a little bit of blue.
Not meaning to nit-pick, but the proper term for those windows is "clerestory" not "clear story."
We said clerestory, it's just that St. Louis accent that makes it sound like clear story. Thanks for watching!
@@ThisHouse Haha! "Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?" I especially liked the juxtaposition of the indoor and outdoor spaces. And I LOVE the exterior paint color!!
Clerestory windows abut the ceiling; those in the kitchen are not clerestory.
How far ahead of its time... Very contemporary...if you know the significance of the house number... You'd know that it has a lot of occultic meaning...
Personally, I would have kept the carport. Not a fan of having a car out in the open 24/7.
I don’t think they should’ve painted it black. The original wood was probably gorgeous!
Yeah, I was also thinking the wood was probably natural originally; painting it may have freshened it, but the vintage style was lost.
I'll be glad when the current trendy fad of painting houses dark colors is over.
This was my thought too!!!
Oh, for Pete's sake.
Kitchen is destroyed.. outside is dandy looking.
I'll give you 85 thousand for it .☹️
Dude, get a dictionary! They are not clerestory anything. They are just windows.
"Clerestory" window?!? No, all the windows he referred to as such are NOT clerestory windows. They are simply windows. Clerestory windows are ones that start at a highpoint on a wall and go all the way to the ceiling. The Host does not know what he's talking about. The house is cute....nothing mind blowing though.
