    The black lines of the structural grid hold the colored panels together compositionally like a 3-dimensional Mondrian painting. Love it.

    I love this house! Unlike a lot of modernist homes, this place manages to have the clean look without being cold and sterile. Thank God some idiot didn't get in there and start knocking out walls to create the "open concept" nonsense that is so popular today. This house is a winner on all levels. Congrats on finding this beautiful house and keeping it true to its intended form.

    Wow, this is truly spectacular. All of the furnishings are so tasteful, simple and so appropriate. We go to Palm Springs a lot, so many ppl junk there up their beautiful M-Mod homes with tacky "new" furnishings, wall hangings and other atrocities. I would PAY to see this place haa..

      As someone who's not American and has never been to the US, it's always interesting to see how the same country has produced extremely beautiful modernist architecture and at the same time extremely tacky nouveau riche homes we see on real estate TV shows nowadays...

    Absolutely beautiful.
    I've noticed there's a growing disdain for modernist architecture, but the beauty truly lies in the simplicity. Modernist architecture might not be everyone's cup of tea, as nothing is ever universally liked, but they could *NEVER* make me hate modernism.

    I'm 61 and when I was a child, I had some modernist home toy kit. I could make my own house designs, it was all modular, kind of like Legos but not. Anyway, I can't revere the name of the toy, but it's what made me love places like this.

    • @katella
      @katella 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would have loved that! My favorite toys were a log building kit, legos. I was fascinated by architecture and used to think about how I would blend together my favorite building styles and materials I saw in different countries we lived in when I was a child. Would have loved to have studied architecture. A modernist home toy kit would be fun to have even now. I'm 70.

    In the comments somebody mentioned the painter Mondriaan. He was part of a movement called ‘de Stijl, after the magazine they published. Part of this movement were also Rietveld and Doesburg.Both were architects and designers. This movement was very influential. This house takes their work a step further. At the same time it realizes all the ideas and esthetics of the Steil (the Style).

  • @ccreme

    This house is a dream! beautiful work with panels opening or breaking perspectives from outside in and inside out, open, semi-translucent, opaque. The colors, the beams, all the elements preserved rather than updated 'au goût du jour' adds so much value and spirit! Maybe this is also all part of the architect's vision, but I would consider surrounding it with a meadow - adding highs, lows, and movement to the outside views as well as space for biodiversity, animals and insects to hide!

    Beautiful house but would love to know more about the practicalities of living in such a building. The owner mentions how much up keep is needed. Is that because of the materials involved? And is that why the line was discontinued? Does it get too hot in summer or too cold in winter? I'm fascinated to know because this sort of pre-fab building would help solve a lot of the current problems we have with housing shortages here in the UK.

    No, not white!!! The colours are beautiful. White is actually an absence of colour, it’s a nothing-thing, it has no warmth, and it fights with nature. I love the black steel frames, and the daring colours - the house has a fresh identity that would have to uplift and inspire you when walking up to the front door. Life without colour is dull. Flowers have been teaching us about that for millennia!
