I have a 2022 CRF450RL, and want to know which full exhaust system puts out the most HP to go along with a vortex ecu. Also which pipes are even compatible with this? Thanks for the 10 amp tip as well, very helpful
I am literally sitting here editing an exhaust video as we I read your comment. I can’t say for sure which one produces the most power. Probably the loudest one. I installed a q4. It had plenty of power for this old man. I should have the exhaust video up this evening. Thanks for the comments and feedback.
Just wondering what tail bag you are running on your 450? I've got the Rotopax set up on my 450 too and I am looking for a tail bag just like the one you have to carry items for a day trip. Thanks!
The having to have bike back in neutral after a stall is a pain in traffic, but I think I prefer to not start it in gear accidentally. Great vid though . Thanks.
Yes, stalling in traffic can be dangerous. I put a recluse clutch in mine and it hasn't stalled since, not even on tight technical single track stuff. That's definately not a free mod though. Thanks for the positive comment.
At first, I did it for the video because I know it is a common mod. I have a Reckluse clutch, so I can start the bike in gear and it won't jump foward. After riding for a week in the mountains, I found this and the kick stand delete to be great mods. I could start my bike at any time, in or out of gear, with or without the clutch pulled and with or without the kick stand down. The bike won't start if the throttle is twisted, so I didn't find it to be dangerous. All that being said, it is a safety feature that I'm sure some lawyer got added after a law suit. Bypass it at your own risk.
@@ufixit That makes sense. I have a question about the recluse, di the Vortex ECU or the recluse clutch make a bigger difference on the low speed maneuverability? I have a 2021 and IMO the low speed issue is because of the high gearing. I am thinking the recluse would be a much better fix than just smoothng out the low end throttle response.
I used to race Honda CR 500s and many others been riding and RACEING all my life! Lol but when I just bought my New Honda 2022 450 RL home yesterday 12 -8 -2021 it was still in the back of my truck with tie downs on went to start it for my girlfriend it wouldn't start I said the battery is Dead ! was going to take it back to the dealer !! But forgot I put it in gear when I picked it up!! Doesn't start in gear ! You know they don't come with a kick starter Lol I was thinking thats why they charge you $500 right out the gate before you leave no getting out of it !! but thats why they have a life time warranty on the battery!!
I have a 2019 Crf450L And wanted to know what your best way of getting rid of the snatchy throttle When I bought the bike new the put a more powerful ecu but that was it , not sure what make they put on it Regards Trevor 🇬🇧
I tried a JD Jetting programmer and also modified the cam on the throttle grip. Both were only mildly effective at reducing the twitchy on/off throttle. The problem is that the stock ECU completely shuts off fuel and ignition when you roll off the throttle until the engine gets back down to idle rpm. So, you have hard engine breaking and when you roll back on, it suddenly fires back up and lurches forward. I installed a vortex ecu. That completely fixed it. Its like a different bike now.
Go to Tokyo mods and get a new ecu. If you don't want to buy a new one there's several people that will reflash your current one. The different throttle tube and re routing your throttle cable helps a little bit.
What in the f is that clutch switch plug you're unplugging why did they put that on there what does it do I'm going to buy a 2021 CRF450R l in January 2021 but what is this other bike CRF 450 L 450l???
The 450l was 2019 and 2020. In 2021 Honda changed the model number to 450rl. Its more of a marketing strategy than a change in the bike. Guess they want folks to know its a street legal 450R. The clutch switch is a safety feature so you don’t crank it in gear and lurch forward.
Can’t speak for others. Personally I have a recluse clutch. I can start it in gear clutch or no. Other reason may be to eliminate a potential point of failure or to install an after market clutch perch.
Just bought a 2021 450RL and I'll definitely be referring to your channel for hints and tips! Thanks for the great video!
Thank you for the complement. You will love the bike. I just added a 7oz flywheel weight to mine. Will have the video out soon.
Very helpful information and a quality instructional video too
I really enjoyed it mate

How you take out of the lever
Mine wont let me start the bike with it in gear with clutch pulled in i hope this will fix that lol
Why would you want to or need to disconnect that switch?
Mostly convenience I suppose. It also eliminates a potential point of failure in the starting circuit.
What tires are those? Thanks
Dunlop 606’s.
