Thanks John. I couldn’t be assed reading through the manual today when I picked up my new bike. Have to say. I pretty much brought this bike because of what your doing! Thanks heaps for all the info🤘. From Australia
You got a new CRF450L? I went to my local dealer and they told me that Honda aren't importing any any into Australia any more so they can sell them into their bigger markets. Glad you managed to pick one up.
@@craigrt not sure how true that is cause there still selling them in NZ. I think it’s because Australia is limited to the choked up euro spec not the USA spec bike. The guys at the shop put the USA ecu in mine and removed the restrictor. Australia is governed by a bunch of pusses!!!!!
I thought it was an unwritten law that Trip B was for oil changes 😉, I couldn't help but think of all the years when I was a kid I got asked to set the clock on everyones VCR. Those skills are still used today!
If you change your oil every 1000 miles the math does itself. LOL. I use B for BDR Sections (Lake City to Buena Vista is 145 miles etc...), especially when you're planning to skip gas stations or section ends. I still can't change the time on my alarm clock.
I have a 2019 crf450l it shuts off mid ride and won’t start. I figured it was the battery so I charged it and of course it happened again. I bought another battery for the bike and the problem is still happening. Did any of you guys come across this problem
Thanks as always John. Ive been doing this for a while too, but using B for oil changes. Great to hear your take on it. Love the new intro too; great branding while being short and sweet.
Maverick Adventures First Stop, Moab, UT Never been there, but when you said the most famous gas station in the world, I figured Moab may be the place.
Hey John, video idea for you, the perfect materialistic adventure tool kit specific to the CRF, that 30mm rear axle nut tightened to 94 ftlb isn't easy to pack lite for LOL
Dude your videos are great! Thank you so much. I am in the middle of a purchase decision between the ktm and the Crf. These are so helpful to me. Any regrets with your decision? Any additional guidance for a new owner? I am currently on an XR650L
No regrets from me. No break downs either. LOL. You're going to want to add the Vortext ECU for sure and a pipe for second. That costs a bit and brings it up to the cost of the KTM, but leaves you with an adjustable ECU. So there's that. The stock tires are nice on the road, questionable in the dirt.
John can you include a section on activating and deactivating the traction control we have with the Vortex ECU please. Apparently it’s insane but I’m unsure how to do it.
I will BPP! But basically,, pull in the clutch with the engine running and press the start button. You will see the engine light blink to let you know TC is on. To turn it off - Pull in the clutch and press the start button. The engine light will stop blinking to let you know TC is off.
Yup. A lot of people do that. I write down when I change the oil so.... I use mine to know when I should be coming on the end of a BDR section or where a particular turn is along my route and things like that.
Thanks for the info John, very helpful. I was at the dealer last week going through this very thing with him but he was a little unsure of some of the finer details. I'm in New Zealand and unfortunately Honda have decided that due to the low sales volume of this model no more will be sold here. They were expensive, $16,500.00 so accordingly all not that popular. The local dealer has two left so thinking hard about whether to acquire one. And can I ask what model Arai helmet you have?
Hello!! I have a 2022 CRF450RL with the same dash. It's brand new. I change the MPH to KM/H like you show, but now it's not showing the speed while riding. It stays in 0, any ideas? Thanks
I’ve only had to fill my tank 1 times since I’ve owned it 😩. Do you find it to be really accurate? Also the trip is only really accurate if you fill the tank completely correct?
The fuel meter has no idea how much fuel you put in - only how much you’ve used. So it’s on you to know how much you’re starting out with. And yes, I’ve found it to be very accurate.
Thanks John. I couldn’t be assed reading through the manual today when I picked up my new bike. Have to say. I pretty much brought this bike because of what your doing! Thanks heaps for all the info🤘. From Australia

@@montayga1018 the only issue that sounds like that I know of is a wrongly installed tip-over sensor. But loose wires can cause all kinds of havoc.
Thanks for making that little black box less confusing, LOL!

Right on thanks. Still waiting for my 2021 up here North of Calgary Alberta. Ride safe.
Thanks!

Really useful info John many thanks, Stuart UK.

Hey Martin. The BIG aluminum wrench is one of the lightest. You just gotta do some pull-ups so you can tourque it down.

The sensor or the wire on your front wheel may be broken.
I have found that my light for high low beam is very bright. Have you come across this? Thanks
True. It's blinding. For a while a had some tape over it.
Hey John where did you get those stickers to decorate the bike ?
The graphics? Or the stickers? The graphics are DeCal Works and the stickers are stickers.

my honda click/ vario 150 has complete MID that can be selected, from trip A to trip B and their real time averages....

@@JohnTYoung yeaah, i just amazed by how much the dash content contained there, compared to that expensive crf😔
Hi John, one question, at 60 mph how many rpm does the engine go ?
Depending on your gearing 5700 to 6000.
@@JohnTYoung thanks John !!
😊👍
Awwwww.
It would have been so much easier if they had simply installed a fuel quantity gauge.
True, but on a dirt bike?
So where is that location?
Somewhere west of the Continental Divide.
I’m a little surprised this bike gets such poor mileage
Adding the Vortex and an extra 8HP plus loading it down with gear does have a pretty negative effect on it's MPG.
