+Jaime Dias Lenzarini You aren't kidding....I remember distinctly hearing it for the first time and being completely taken aback and not knowing what to think, then I listened 2-3 more times, it started to sink in....by the 5th listen, it becomes a part of your DNA, and is almost infinitely listenable when compared to 99.9% of other songs. Once it reveals itself, you realize it's perfect. And these redone vocals are simply phenomenal as well, a re-make that invigorates the original song even more.
yes i agree. i love singing it . i can't do it that well but i have a cover on my channel. kind of embarrassed bc i don't know if i should keep it up. i like to copy peoples voices it happens kinda naturally. if you ever have a chance to listen id love ur feedback
She sings, she writes, she composes, she acts, she dances, so smart, beautiful, graceful, both sensual & delicate : she is a Goddess. "And I love her", like Macca says.
I'm brazilian: I've been a fan of this song and Kate Bush since I saw this video in 1977. Everything about it is beautiful, well made, produced to be a masterpiece. Something I almost never see anyone commenting on is the choreography. Kate transmits her voice, melody and lyrics with movements created for this purpose. Everything was taken to extremes as this beautiful song deserves.
jubilantsleep I agree. This never used to be one of favorites of hers until it just suddenly did lately. Don't know what I wasn't seeing before. lol, but I've just been listening to it constantly the past few days. xD
Stephen's YTP's It's one of those songs that puts you into a trance. It took me a while to actually like this one, but once I started liking it, I couldn't stop listening to it. The music, the vocals, the guitar, the dancing. All of it.
Same, the original was supposed to be eerie and haunting because Cathy is a ghost. But this version is so lovely, it feels like Cathy is calling Heathcliff to be with her again and not haunting him
The definitive version of an amazing song by an extremely talented musician, songwriter and dancer. And oh, by the way, definitely the most beautiful girl in the music business at the time.
Incredible as this song always impressed me for the perfection of the work: the drums, the piano, the guitar and the beautiful voice of Kate Bush. One of the most beautiful songs ever!
i first heard this song when i was between 10 & 11 years old while stripping the wallpaper in my sitting room with my Mam, she had bought one of Kates cd's and played the original version of this song on a loop all day :-) loved it ever since. I'm 23 now and only listened to this version a few months ago, love how the melody of her voice rocks it at the end with the extended guitar solo. PEACE.....
"...she had bought one of Kates cd's and played the original version of this song on a loop all day.." Yep - a song to become obsessed with, if ever there was one. Can you imagine any soul becoming obsessed with 'Partition' by Beyonce?
No matter how many times I listen to this song, it still manages to give me goosebumps every single time. Beautifully heartwrenching, exactly like the book. Emily would be proud of Kate. :)
My only gripe on this newer version is the "room" sound from her '80s vocals recordings is way too bright for this song. It sounds like it was recorded in a tiled shower room. Other than that small gripe, it's great.
This version is better executed compared to the original, but I prefer the imperfect but just so spot on version from "The Kick Inside". Either version is a great song!
+Jacopo Muneratti It's hard to decide. As a song to listen to, I prefer the original, but I feel like this version is eerier and suits the tone of the novel more
Just added this to my Favorites. I love the later version of the recording, but this video, and the famous Red Dress video, are such touchstones of my teenage years. Thanks so much for finding a way to incorporate the music into the video!
Such an unrecognised talent.....still listening and loving her music since I was given her first album.........just wish I could see her perform live again........
This is the first song I heard of hers.. And it was this version too. I can't find it on iTunes.. Or on Rdio.. They do have the original but for my memories sake I prefer this one.. I brought it into my grade 8 music class in 1988 when the teacher asked for suggestions of songs for us to sing for choir.. And everyone made ugly faces and made fun of me.. They had no clue.. I was the cool one loving the Beatles and stuff like this when they were all into G'n'R and Def Leppard.. LOL... Thank you for uploading!!
You had damn good taste for a school kid. Good for you! I mean, I can never really understand why ANYBODY could fail to love Kate Bush. In fact, I would go so far as to suggest that there's something wrong with people who don't love her.
sullwyn I'm kind of like that now, I mean i'm 12 and right now where I live i'm the one in my school that likes "old singers"? XD I don't think 60s/70s/80s or nineties were that long ago! I guess we both have a good ear for talent, but I guess it's because my mum used to play Beatles music since me and my sister were very young, I also had my own taste, since age 3 I loved Madonna. When I found out about Kate I got obssessed or should I say possesed 0_0
Back in the 60s, Wuthering Heights was adapted to a Javanese radio play called "Ariasih", the name assigned for Cathy. I can still feel the haunting of her upon Heathcliff from that play (Arri ... Arriassihhh ...), but with this song and the superb Kate Bush interpretation, that haunting becomes so real yet so other-worldly ... Words fail me ...
Totally amazing ,,then, now and forevermore, love you Kate, this still takes my breath away,my most favorite of all her songs,I want to be Kathy lol,,koala hugs Australia
For me the first version of the song is better - it's eerier, more haunting. Sacrosanct. But this one is phenomenal too. It's richer and fuller and it's more pop while the first version is more alternative. Greetings from Poland to all of Kate's fans.😃♥️
I love this song, because kate sings from the perspective of a heartbroken ghost, with a vocal performance and choreography that are from another galaxy... Remarkable!!!
From David A. Wood: Hello, David from Kettering, Ohio here. This is the second time that I am commenting on TH-cam about British singer Kate Bush's emotionally thrilling and quite sublime 1979 song, "Wuthering Heights." I really must agree with the subtly witty opinion of "@aerialkate" in that if you casually dislike this elegantly endearing song, that to this day still both effortlessly and poignantly plucks at a human being's emotional heartstrings as if the heart was a stringed, classical instrument, then you are pathetically and tragically bereft of both a deeply sensitive human personality (substitute "soul" in the place of "personality" in the TH-cam text that was previously written by @aerialkate) and just plain ol' aesthetically decent taste!
This song is truly brilliant. Kate is one of the most gorgeous women I've ever seen. This version is much better than the original as her voice has matured. I was 5 when the original was released and vaguely remember it. If I'd been 15 at the time, its impact on me would've been immense lol.
Impossible to like this music without admiring the spirit or these three lovely incredible women> Emily Bronttë, the character Cathy and Kate Bush. This music cannot go without the other and it just grabs me by the heart, it's so full of emotion.
Oh Kate so fantastic never deny your past, we were all at our best when young, you were better than anyone , so naturally talented, the first cut is the deepest
@wonsworld The guitar solo is played by Ian Bairnson who is a Scottish session guitarist. He is known to have played with the Alan Parsons Project and was in the group Pilot whose big hit was Magic. That was him doing the lead guitar parts on that song. A lot of people assumed it was David Gilmour because of his association with Kate Bush. Great solo indeed though I would not mistake it for David Gilmour because he has a distintive tone.
wonderful work you did? I congratulate you friend ...... I love this version, I remember my years in college, specifically the year 1994.gracias for sharing!

Well said... I fully agree... it's a beautiful, artistic and multi-faceted song.
one of the best songs of all time
+Jaime Dias Lenzarini You aren't kidding....I remember distinctly hearing it for the first time and being completely taken aback and not knowing what to think, then I listened 2-3 more times, it started to sink in....by the 5th listen, it becomes a part of your DNA, and is almost infinitely listenable when compared to 99.9% of other songs. +Jonathan Straka It's so good that it just blows my mind.
+Jaime Dias Lenzarini Yes! She is great! Wenn you wish can you my version to watching...Have a nice day!!

indeed, after nearly 40 years, it never gets tired
She sings, she writes, she composes, she acts, she dances, so smart, beautiful, graceful, both sensual & delicate : she is a Goddess.
"And I love her", like Macca says.
She is a complete artist
She's the prime example of a person that won't stop dreaming
This 1986 version is my favorite. It never gets old. Pure beauty. Kate is the BEST.
Same, been listening to this song everyday since 2022
This is by far the best vocal. Thank god Kate recorded this. So much more passion behind it
I'm brazilian: I've been a fan of this song and Kate Bush since I saw this video in 1977.

This new vocal is even better than the original, it's more emotional.
True comment indeed!
Slightly better version th-cam.com/video/G8C50GUxfG8/w-d-xo.html
I agree with you, person from 15 years ago
Dear Kate, you are great singer indeed. Best wishes from Moscow!
The guitar solo is perfect, as is the whole song of course!
Everything about it is perfect
Her voice is better in this version. beautiful
Cyndi Lauper VideoZone dxgjXcmnvvgfxdfnknjnnczdfbm,cvghbjg
I freakin' love when she belts COOOOOOOOOOOOOLD near the end.
Dario2622 That's my favorite part too. Just full of emotion!
YES gives me chilllsssss
Goodness!!! I already adored the original, now....I am besotted with her maturer version....wow
The best for me is "Ohh! let me have it!" Because she put so much emotion in this line
The New Vocal is my fave. I love the original, but she just made this so much better.
Essa Música ultrapassa as Barreiras do tempo .... Sempre gostarei dela....inesquecível!!
My favorite Kate Bush song! Hell, one of my favorite songs, period!
Beautiful woman. Beautiful voice.
jubilantsleep I agree.
All of it.
jubilantsleep Her music very much has a nostalgia factor to me and is also one of the very few artists who writes poetry in the form of a song. :)
Stephen's YTP's Agreed. I own all of her albums and every single one of her songs could stand alone as poetry. No other singers compare.
jubilantsleep Aww. Yeah my sister owns them all to and I just listen too them. Haha.
The absolut best version.
This version is better because it's longer. The song is flawless either way, but more Wuthering Heights = better Wuthering Heights
Yeah it also sounds better and has more emotions (not hating the original though*
This is the best version of "Wuthering Heights" ever.
(re-recorded vocals from The Whole Story, 1986)
Yeah, none can beat her voice
God bless Kate Bush for writing and performing this masterpiece...
I much prefer this version over the extremely high-pitched album version lol 💛💛💛
Alte Erinnerungen ❤an schöne Zeiten und Musik 😊I Love it. Michael from Germany
❤
❤
Essa música não saí da minha mente
I really love this version, more haunting
I like this version more than the original.
I like the more high pitch of orginal
Me too
Same, the original was supposed to be eerie and haunting because Cathy is a ghost. But this version is so lovely, it feels like Cathy is calling Heathcliff to be with her again and not haunting him
The definitive version of an amazing song by an extremely talented musician, songwriter and dancer. And oh, by the way, definitely the most beautiful girl in the music business at the time.
Magnífica essa versão!! Kate Bush perfeita!!
I close my eyes and pretend this is a live version. And it ends with a wild round of cheers and applause from the audience.
What Kate did with her voice at the end of the new mix ranks among the most chilling and heart-felt vocals ever recorded, imo
Incredible as this song always impressed me for the perfection of the work: the drums, the piano, the guitar and the beautiful voice of Kate Bush. One of the most beautiful songs ever!

aerialkate I never heard of that tune, I'll give it a listen and get back to you :-)
Jason Rochford
It's kinda vulgar. But as you're over 21 (as me old nana used to say) you can handle it...
explain!!!!!
Jason Rochford
It's just got rude words! It's on 'youtube'; you can hear it in a couple of clicks. It's crap though.
No matter how many times I listen to this song, it still manages to give me goosebumps every single time. Beautifully heartwrenching, exactly like the book. Emily would be proud of Kate. :)
There's the version I was looking for!!!
Thank you Zack, I need that extra minute of Katie and David at the end to fill me up.
My only gripe on this newer version is the "room" sound from her '80s vocals recordings is way too bright for this song. It sounds like it was recorded in a tiled shower room. Other than that small gripe, it's great.

Great voice and music.

The new vocal is on The Whole Story
Best performance vocal. It's wonderful
Such a brilliant, beautiful and powerful voice. Absolute unique in the world and mind-blowing!
Beautiful song that touch my heart and my soul...love dis song really❤️❤️

OH MY GOSH! This was very well done! I didn't think the 1986 vocal could be superimposed on the 1978 video this well. Bravissimo!

Kate... Beauty, Grace, and Perfection all fight to be master of your spirit
This is awesome, thanks for the upload. I love the video and the original, but wow! The new one really shows off her vocal range.
So awesome song! The chorus melody is so touching, especially in this version

@burteriksson Good note.
...ironically
(yknow, the ghost stuff)
Cathy stole it
Agree
I agree!!!!!
I love that sound of weeping guitar at the end. cathy i come home, I'....m so cooold.

Dzien Dobry.
Simply perfect, i can hear and watch this one without end!!
With full guitar😍😍😍😍😍
I love Kate Bush.. amazing voice and very unique style
I'm so moved.
I loved this song about 30 years ago.
This version is more passionate.
Kate Bush haunts my very soul, her beauty and magic overthrows me everytime
I love this song, because kate sings from the perspective of a heartbroken ghost, with a vocal performance and choreography that are from another galaxy... Remarkable!!!
That guitar solo pierces the soul
This is bloody amazing. I LOVE this version. Her voice gives me the shivers that I can't explain rationally.
Best version
i love her voice. i can't help listening to whole story album everyday
This song speaks to me on such a personal level and Kate Bush is just such an incredibly talented, powerful singer, it's hard to not be moved by it.
Simply angelic

One of the greatest pieces of music ever produced ... and written by her when she was only 18 years old.
She's back!!!!! Can't wait for August - wo-hooo!!!!!
Best version ever!
The best of all the versions, far clearer vocals with more emotion and better instrumentals especially bass - brilliant!
It just gets better and better, from an ardent fan xxxx

Just pure musical genius, unique beyond words.
such a beautiful voice
ADORO ESSA MÚSICA 🎵🤗👏👏👏 BRASIL 🇧🇷 2023
Her voice!!
The versions really good!
It seems almost a gospel at the end
That's a hell of a song!!! Well done Kate!
Kate Bush is the best singer ever.
