Good for you ! What I wouldn't give to be in your shoes with an amazing catalog of music just waiting to be discovered . You have so much more Kate to enjoy you will be musically busy for years and I promise you that you will enjoy every moment of what's to come . If you are like me you'll start with her motr accessible work then move into the quirky and darker stuff as time goes on . This is the song that introduced me to Kate Bush but it was back in 1987 thanks to a UHF based video channel that played the stuff MTV would not . When I heard this song it changed the way I thought about music . After I played the hell out of "Hounds of Love" I went looking for more of her work and was pretty astonished to find out her first album "The Kick Inside" was released in 1978 when I was 5 years old and I had a great deal of catching up to do . I love all of her work even the strange and ethereal stuff but if I had to pick a favorite album its "Kick Inside" . If you have yet to check it out I highly suggest it and I can say with great certainty that the first three tracks will blow your mind . The stand out track is "James and the Cold Gun" it's a bit more straight forward rock than most of her stuff and she just sets it ablaze . Enjoy!

      Fantastic! 😄
Dont forget to show her kates amazing dance performances!
I can remember as a kid seeing her doing these crazy body movement exploring dances and being amazed. I for the first time understood these dancers who explore the human body and express through it. Led to me appreciating music theater and the arts in general. I really feel it was kate who opened my eyes to it. Instead of seeing dancers writhe about and turn the tv channel over, i took a moment to watch and thats all you need. Just to give it a chance before you decide it is or isnt for you. Have to say no one quite did the popular music with interpretive dance as good as kate though!! 😀

She's never seemed to be that interested in chasing trends and reinventing herself to what's supposedly currently hip in a desperate attempt to stay relevant. She even 'vanishes' for years to focus on other things like raising her family and then only comes back when she's good and ready.

As a 72 year old man I'm tickled that 17 year olds are discovering Kate Bush. You like Kate? Try The Dreaming (1982). It's the most original and experimental album she ever made, and I suspect that's why it was overlooked at the time. On the basis of that record alone Kate's a genius. Every song on that album is formally audacious musically and lyrically like a compressed novel. When I first heard Sat In My Lap on the radio I was stunned. It sounded like a playful mashup of "pop" music and avant-garde European art music! I had to find out where it came from and who made it. I discovered The Dreaming and Kate Bush. That was 40 years ago. I'm so glad Kate is finally getting the recognition she has always deserved.

Kate was angry tho with the song once, since it was called “A Deal With God” but she had to change it. So that’s why it’s called Running Up That Hill. Listening to Kate all over again at the age of 57 just makes me feel 20 again. She was always 'experimental', but she usually got it right despite going against what was considered 'commercial'. I went to a school back in 1982 with a lad who was probably more of a musical geek than any of us, and he considered Kate to be a goddess of music and was 'out and proud' of his position. With hindsight of nearly 40 years, I would say that he was on the money as her music never grows old, and has outgrown a lot of music from the time.

Kate Bush explained in 1985: "It's about a relationship between a man and a woman. They love each other very much, and the power of the relationship is something that gets in the way. It creates insecurities.
"It's saying if the man could be the woman and the woman the man, if they could make a deal with God, to change places, that they'd understand what it's like to be the other person and perhaps it would clear up misunderstandings. You know, all the little problems; there would be no problem."
Kate also spoke about the song has been misinterpreted, saying: "I was trying to say that, really, a man and a woman can't understand each other because we are a man and a woman. And if we could actually swap each other's roles, if we could actually be in each other's place for a while, I think we'd both be very surprised!
"And I think it would lead to a greater understanding. And really the only way I could think it could be done was either... you know, I thought a deal with the devil, you know. And I thought, 'well, no, why not a deal with God!' You know, because in a way it's so much more powerful the whole idea of asking God to make a deal with you.
"You see, for me it is still called 'Deal With God'. that was its title. But we were told that if we kept this title that it would not be played in any of the religious countries, Italy wouldn't play it, France wouldn't play it, and Australia wouldn't play it! Ireland wouldn't play it, and that generally we might get it blacked purely because it had God in the title."

Kate, do you know that when Hounds Of Love was first released I listened to it at last a thousand time? Still, not a week goes by that I don't listen to the entire album (The Ninth Wave is engraved in my soul) or some beauties from it. It’s impossible for me not to dive in such a wonder… it makes me feel so good enjoying the whole world of emotions you share with us with each album. Eternally loyal and grateful❤️‍🔥

Yeah I was born in 68 & it's good to see this generation getting into, what I consider to be, *REAL MUSIC.* While there was some gems in the 80s & some great tunes there also was a load of dross too like most of the Stock, Aitken & Waterman catalogue. But after the 90s things really went downhill IMO & as such even some S,A & W sounds good now. LOL.
I love 60s & especially 70s music the most as the dross was pretty thin on the ground & from every genre there was quality whether it was Rock, Early Metal, *actual* R 'n' B, Motown, Punk & even in the commercial pop world with the Bee Gees & The Carpenters etc. [yes I probably missed some but you get my point] From the 21st century there is MUSE.., that is all... LOL.
Oh & now that counter culture hip hop artists are rapping about things I can relate too I like some of them/that these days too. [Tom McDonald & Bryson Gray for example]

She has such an amazing voice! Her voice is gorgeous. This is a true artist and I’m glad her song is getting recognition from Stranger Things. I’m also glad it was used in a BIG scene and not just in the background or for a dance. It was used for a meaningful scene. Which is exactly what this song deserves.

I had the pleasure of doing the stage sound on Kate's first and only tour and developed the Wireless Headset Mic for her........ not that it has anything to do with her brilliance.

Still love everything you do Kate, and every memory too.✌🇬🇧

@@adamp108 ....no prob, I obviously took it the wrong way. 🙈
I was hired by the Who's sound company after doing a tour together. Their crew told me of the many problems (audio wise) to be solved in the upcoming KB tour, of which one was the fact she couldn't hold a mic due to the choreography, and I was offered the stage sound engineering job. After making the original Headset starting with a thick wire coathanger.....perfect metallurgical properties for the purpose and eventually bent to fit her....attached the small, hi quality lapel radio mic.... Setting it up for live stage use was rather complicated but it was fine.
This was the 1st use of the Wireless headset Microphone and her tour was such a massive success.
Many top artists wanted one immediately.✌🇬🇧
