Father Barron, I am a catholic from Hong Kong. I just want to say thank you for all your hard works, which are tremendously helpful. May God bless you and your work.
Why did the Catholic Church remove the original 2nd commandment concerning graven images and then split the 10th commandment into 2 so that the total is still ten? God's Law is not to be tampered with. The penalty for doing this is condemnation.
@@anthonyciardi1 the Catholic Church, along with Lutherans, use the numbering scheme out forth by St. Augustine. They did not remove any commandments, because the commandments aren’t actually numbered in the Bible to begin with.
As someone struggling with my faith, I find your lectures refreshing. Thank you for your insight, and not leaving your intellect at the door when talking about Christianity and Scripture.
I look forward to every Word On Fire exposition from Father Barron. I don't know of anyone who is saying more of what needs to be said to this culture, this generation, than Father Barron in his unique ministry -- not because he affirms me in what I'm doing with my life. Quite the opposite. His prophetic ministry calls me out, exposes my sins. It doesn't feel good, necessarily. But he keeps me in touch with reality.
Father Barron Thank you for your effort in sharing the word of God to us. Thank you for more elaboration and explanation about the Ten Commandments of God.
Dear Fr Barron, I have been following your video clips for some time now and I must say that The Ten Commandments clip is by far the most inspiring, informative and enlightening so far. Thank you for reminding me as a Christian what I do right in my life and what I am weak in.
Bishop you have made so much difference to the world! Even if you are in US and I in Australia, i learn a lot from you.I pray for your good health, and thank God you are in our generation! God bless you!!!
Bishop Barron, "Honour Thy Mother and Father", where does this fit when we have been abused, horribly abused as a child and this has had lifelong affects on our adult lives. God Bless.
Thanks for the great Video Father B! God bless you! Fr. Please pray for me Fr. or anyone who reads this comment to do well in my upcoming Exams. Thanks.
Thank you Bishop Barron....another insightful and informative video. I have listened to most of your videos. God bless you more abundantly for your ministry.
The notion of coveting as desiring something or someone by virtue of their wider desirability is wholly accurate. Thank you for illuminating that. I believe it is a major ill, and major drive, within our society.
Bishop Barron although I really like your videos and all the beautiful insights of God I can’t help but also say that you must consider using smaller words so a simpleton like moi can understand on the first go. Found myself checking more than a few words I’ve never heard before. Not a book worm here. But I thank you had to turn on the closed captioning
Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death (Romans 8:1-2).
1. I am your God, whom alone you shall worship. 2. Respect, and don't use me, or misrepresent me. 3. I gave you a day off, be grateful and enjoy it wisely. 4. Love and respect your family. 5. Don't choose to kill anyone, or hurt their spirit. 6. Love your spouse and respect your marriage. 7. Don't take what is not yours. 8. Don't lie about other people. 9. Don't envy another person's relationships. 10. Don't desire someone else's possessions.
Exodus 20:1 And God spake all these words, saying, 2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. 7 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. 8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lordblessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. 12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. 13 Thou shalt not kill. 14 Thou shalt not commit adultery. 15 Thou shalt not steal. 16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. 17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's. 18 And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off. 19 And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die. 20 And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not. 21 And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was. 22 And the Lord said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven. 23 Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold. This is insightful. Though I did want Aslan to come bounding in. In other words, if Jesus doesn't come in and save us from our inevitable failure to keep the core of all of these commandments, then this is just a Sunday school lesson. We can't even keep the first commandment for a day, an hour. Let alone love our neighbour as ourself. The antidote to sin is not "try harder" to keep these commands. You know that doesn't work. It is only Jesus' death on the cross which secured our forgiveness from being covetous or idolatrous or dishonouring to our family etc. Repentance and the expulsion of the desire to do these sins by focusing on Christ's love and sacrifice is the only way to approach the law of God. Galatians 3:23-24 But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, being shut up to the faith which was later to be revealed. Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith.
Taking note of all those wonderful mind movies I mean books 📚 writing ✍️ down books I am gonna have to re listen 👂 I heared it didn’t listen well enough. Did not digest . Thank you padre
Particularly enjoyed this one. Sadly it seems many of the fundamentalist religions tend to be more versed on the Ten Commandments but in a stylized manner that is used to prop up their regimes. I do have a question, my wife is caught in the cycle of one of these sects and I am at a loss to find an effective way to “remove the scales from her eyes”. As priest who is dedicated to evangelism I would love ask if you have seen people in such a condition effectively reached and if so how?
Hi +Bishop Barron , thanks for the sharing. can i ask you a question regarding the sabbath? fundamentally the 3rd commandment is to keep holy on the sabbath (saturday), but we catholic are celebrating the lord's day (sunday). how can we interpret this in a theological perspective?
"Love your neighbour" means fellow men and women whether family or not. Is`nt it written "“If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. 33And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. 34And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full"
When I asked for the person who used my phone to buy things, I forgot completely that I did. I received two receipts that I did not get to open until I use that particular iPhone again. I was asked for comment for the two things I bought and I said that I didn't do that and I asked who did that. And by doing it without reflecting on who did it; I just sent it back with a question. All I asked was for the person who did that. A little while after I sent back those faces that came to me, I sent back the unhappy face and I asked the same question. Well, it turned out that indeed I bought two things for 150 each on separate occasions; however, now I remembered that those items were sent to me at the same time. I sent one to my first born daughter and I kept one for me. Now, now, the person that I bought those items from emailed me upset and asked me why did I sent those comments that she never used my information without my consent. And I just fall short to breath. I put her good standing name as a seller in jeopardy. I apologized and I begged for her pardon. But, what she wanted me to do is to find these emails and fix them. Why am I writing this? I did offend this person that I really love without remembering that we made three transactions because I bought from her the first item in person and the other two items over the phone. However, this iPhone that I used to communicate with her and to buy those items I gave it to Felix, the father of my children and I forgot all about it until yesterday. I just commit sin after sin without stopping first to realize that the Ten Commandments are broken every day by so many of us that it is sad that we don't pause for a minute before we judge anybody because before we know it, we the ones who are at fault. So, my point is that it is exceptionally important that we be reminded of those live given laws that our God had given to us. If we don't live by the law we die by it, because the law is so easy to break and hard to amend. Therefore, our Lord Jesus Christ had to come to Earth sent by his Father to teach us the way because he is the Way, to teach us to love because he is Love, to teach us patience because he is Patient, to teach us to forgive because he is God among us, one Father Son Holy Spirit. Amen.
Me gustaría mucho que pasaron los programas en español o con subtitulos ya que vi el programa de Catolicismo por EWTN y me pareció bueno. agradezco su atención. Consuelo. Bogotá Colombia.
Dear Father Barron, a friend of mine has left the Catholic Church because of the third commandment. I’m sorry for him as I don’t believe God will punish us because we love God on Sunday Monday Tuesday etc I love God everyday and try to go to Mass every week, whether Saturday or Sunday or Monday, because life sometimes doesn’t allow it possible to go every Sunday. I don’t believe God will not love us as much because we take the kids to school on Saturday or cooking meals. I find it not compatible with God’s love. Why do non Catholic churches believe this ? We love God as much as they do but they continue to despise the catholic church. Isn’t this what Jesus condemned ? Please pray for these souls Amen 🙏
B HOW DID THE LAW COVENANT BECOME "OBSOLETE"? However, the Law covenant became in a sense "obsolete" when God announced by means of the prophet Jeremiah that there would be a new covenant. (Jer. 31:31-34; Heb. 8:13) In 33 C.E. the Law covenant was canceled on the basis of Christ's death on the torture stake (Col. 2:14), the new covenant replacing it.---Heb. 7:12; 9:15; Ac. 2:1-4.
I love your material- I always find it thoughtful, and engaging. I was wondering if you would be able to place references for additional or extended reading for the videos you post. I'm sure I wouldn't be the only person who would find that useful.
Just a friendly reminder that there are other days of obligation besides Sunday, like Corpus Christi, Christmas, and some other that I don't know by heart...
Thank you for your videos, Father Barron. According to Girard's philosophy, do you believe the inverse is true? (i.e. because fewer and fewer people are wanting God, we as a society are wanting God less and less?)
Hi, Father. Thank you for your videos all these years. I have two quick questions. 1. Is Yahweh, Almighty God of the OT to be identified with The Most Holy Trinity, or only with God the Father? and 2. Did you ever talk to Fr. Benedict Groeschel? Thank you!
Actually the 5th Commandment translates from English to Hebrew (both have words for kill and murder today) as, “You shall not murder.”(ESV Exodus 20:13) not you shall not kill it’s only found in the King James Version with kill because kill was defined the same as murder in 1610 English.
1. You shall have no other gods before me. 2. You shall not make for yourself an idol. 3. You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God. 4. Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 5. Honor your father and your mother. 6. You shall not murder. 7. You shall not commit adultery. 8. You shall not steal. 9. You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. 10. You shall not covet anything that belongs to your neighbor.
I’m trying to make sense of all different interpretations of God’s Law, and I don’t understand why Bishop Barron left out the idolatry parts 😫. Can someone explain?
But i use to love going to church every morning no being a one legged crippled i watch service mostly all day long on tv youd think I d be sinless Come holy holy Spirit I'm patiently waiting In Jesus Holy Name!
Basically if somebody becomes jealous of somebody else in a sexual relationship, they aren't genuine feelings? Because I've gone through many crushes based on sudden jealousy.
There are errors in the enunciation of the commandments. Where is the commandment 'Thou shalt not make images to worship'? What's more, the true order of the commandments has been changed in today's scriptures, for the Sabbath used to be the tenth and last commandment, the fulfillment of all, the key to salvation.
*THE IMMUTABLE LAW OF GOD* *I* I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. *II* *Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth* Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. *III* Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. *IV* Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. *V* Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. *VI* Thou shalt not kill. *VII* Thou shalt not commit adultery. *VIII* Thou shalt not steal. *IX* Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. *X* Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's. Exodus 20:2-17 KJV
Dear Father, just one question, I thought the commandment about the sabbath should be the fourth, why was it the third? Arent the Catholic church changing the laws around?
Check it out it was Martin Luther who changed the Bible when he started the reformation as he didn't believe some books where necessary. I was reading the book of Esther in my Protestant bibke that my dad gave me... And realised half the book isn't there... It's heartbreaking. I wanted to read Esther's prayer, it wasnt there😮this is in the New International Version... The Catholic Church gave the world our first Bible, they have never changed it.
I love what you said about all of the Ten Commandments, and although you mentioned that you shouldn't worship statues and things the like, "thou shall not make unto thee any graven image" is actually the 2nd commandment solely. And the 9th and 10th for coveting is actually only one, not two commandments. I mean no disrespect, but do not understand why your listed Ten commandments is different than in the Bible.
There's two versions of them in the Bible, he referred to the later version that the Roman Rite commonly refers to and quite frankly is more suitable for modern society .
I'm not a Protestant or Catholic, but I have to say for those who will use the argument that Catholic worships idols it is a strawman. Making images and worshiping are two separate things. If they are the same thing, you can't have toys, photographs, cartoon sculptures, etc. So arguing that they worship images just because they have them in their churches is a dishonest argument.
Leigh Wiggin it has not been dropped. Bishop Barron showed the commandment with out the entire text. The graven images and idols is part of the first commandment. Read the entire text and research pre protestant meanings. Protestants changed the them in the 1500's.
The Torah contains the commandments and this pre-dates the Catholic church and actually, the Protestant/Orthodox reading of the commandments pre-dates the Catholic reading. St Augustine chose the Catholic version(400AD), Origen chose the Orthodox reading(200AD). So you might want to research pre-Catholic meanings. The Protestants returned to an earlier version, they didn't re-order them.
Sure but there are more thou shall nots than 10. And why would God tell them later in Exodus to make images? I suppose it depends on ones particular theology. Also idol or graven image of something that one falsely perceives as a god is wrong and a sin.
Steven Chavez God commands not to make graven images for yourself. With the Ark, God is commanding it be built for him. So they're not connected. I just thought the Bishop glossed over the commandment.
The Catholic Church keeps the The Lord’s day because it is the most important day of all if Jesus didn’t rise on Sunday then we would all still be in our sins and our faith would be vain as Paul says that’s why the Catholic Church keep Sunday because there’s no day that’s more important and the Sabbath was only for Israel according to Exodus 31:16-18 and it’s not for new testament Israel either according to Colossians 2:16-17 I hope you understand.. Saint Thomas Aquinas talks about the sabbath and why it’s a abolished you should really read his work and I hope you understand why you should keep the Lord‘s day and why the Sabbath is no longer meant to be kept. God bless
Moses broke the commandments from Exodus 20 under the mountain. Then he went back to the mountain and made a completely different 10 commandments (Exodus 34)
The three headed God of the Roman Catholic idol worshipers isn't a 'STRANGE' God to them and their three headed God is 👌 ok 👌 with them changing the day of rememberance from Saturday (the 7th day) to Sunday ☀ (the 1st day), a change for which there is no scriptural authority.
@@fabioszuminski1123 The first commandment was changed to be able to deify the pope and their three headed God and deify all their saint's who to them are transformed, sanctified, sinner's represented by Pagan statue's reconfigured! Thou shalt have no 'STRANGE' God's before me, instead of no other God's before ME! (PERIOD!) The RCC's god is sure kind-hearted to allow other God's before Him as long as they aren't 'STRANGE' god's! They claim the 2nd commandment was really included in the first and was really redundant, so they removed it so that they could make graven image's like Aaron's golden calf and later another Isrealite leader made 2 golden calve's and the RCC now has thousand's, make that million's of million's of statue's that they claim they don't worship, they just bow down before them, talk to them (isn't that what prayer is?), praise them, ask them for favor's, etc. The forth commandment , their third was changed both in wording and in meaning. It now has nothing to do with the creator GOD but has to do with their god with three head's who is a real ball of 🔥 🌞 🔥, and they honor his day, 'SUN' day!!! Then the RCC changed the 10th commandment of the Only True GOD, the creator, and split it into two because they claim that a man's wife is not his property. So who's property is she? She was her father's property and the question was asked, 'Who give's this woman to this man?' Well did her father give her to the man or not? If he did then she is his property! If she isn't then someone should have objected at the ceremony. The Beast Power of Revelation will think, think's it has changed GOD's time's and GOD's Law's!!!! The RCC has two Mark's of her authority, the Trinity and changing the solemnity of GOD's forth commandment from Saturday the 7th day of the week to Sunday the 1st day of the week a change for which there is no scriptural authority according to them and the proof of their power and authority is that all (actually most) modern religion's honor the RCC by following the dictate's of the two RCC change's!!! These are two test's of orthodoxy.
A.LaVerne Filan The Catholic Church did not change the first Commandment and it does not protect the pope or the saints, The first commandment is to protect God and his Holiness. Sanctified Saints represented by pagan statues this is False and even if there were statues that were pagan they were simply turned into Christians statues to represent God’s Glory. There are many things that were Pagan and now used for Christianity in the Bible it says king of kings lord of lords did you know that pagans use this wording for their gods, bible writers use this wording to Mock paganism and to tell pagans that their God is king of kings Lord of lords not theirs. And no all god’s are strange to the Catholic Church That argument is a strawman no Catholic makes that argument It is a part of the first comment tell me where does it say in the Bible that it’s the second one there is no listing or in other words no sorting out what command goes in what category. The Catholic Church believes that worshipping images and worshipping other gods or a part of the first commandment because it has to deal with worship. Tell me if someone told you don’t worship anything but me it logically follows that this includes animals statues and other people it’s just how the Catholic Church counts the 10 Commandments. And another thing to keep in mind the Catholic Church is not taking the list of the 10 Commandments in Exodus 20 the Catholic Church is taking The listing of the 10 Commandments in Deuteronomy 5 they are listed differently in each book this is why there’s so much confusion. The Catholic Church uses statuesTo remember the Saints and God it’s the same reason why you have pictures of your family in your house and we pray in front of The statues so we can think of the person that the statue shows. Now let’s move on to the Sabbath commandment again the listing is different in exodus and Deuteronomy the Catholic Church takes the listing of the 10 Commandments in Deuteronomy protestants take the listing of the 10 Commandments in exodus keep that in mind when we’re talking here now let’s continue The Catholic Church only change the writing because the New Testament date of warship is Sunday not Saturday anymore the Sabbath was abolished according to Colossians 2:16-17 and it was only for Israel according to exodus 31:16-18 therefore we conclude that the Sabbath is abolished no why do we go to church on Sunday in the new testament for a few reasons one Jesus rose from the dead on Sunday by Jesus racing on Sunday according to the Bible he made a new creation and according to Paul without the resurrection our faith would be vain And there would be no forgiveness of sins he says, so the Catholic Church keeps Sunday because it is the most important day of all there is not one day that’s more important that’s why we keep Sunday and even the apostles kept Sunday in the first chapter of revelation John says I was in the spirit on the Lord‘s day as you could see Sunday was already established because John is expecting people to know what the Lord is so we know that John kept Sunday so that’s the third commandment done ✅. And please show me in the Catholic catechism where it says that we worship the sun give me any writing from any Catholic that says we worship the sun The Catholic Church never did and the Catholic Church never well. The 10th commandment was not changed again look at the listing of Deuteronomy 5 then you’ll know why it’s split and if you don’t then I’ll give you a video to explain it more in detail And no the woman is not her fathers property God owns the woman not the father and plus if the father gave her in marriage that means the husband owns her now so you didn’t deposit anything out of that argument. First of all there is evidence of The Catholic Church is authority In Matthew 16:18 Jesus said to Simon You are Peter and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against if you continue reading in the next verse 19 and I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven according to this passage the Catholic Church could make different laws and other things like this but they cannot change Jesus is official teaching just wanna make that clear. So what did we get from this conversation that you bring up all the classic arguments from every protestant the Catholic Church has dealt with this predicament for a very long time and new arguments are the point very often as well you just sound like a mad protestant just blabbering out hatred I hope that’s not the case and I hope you find the truth God bless you and have a great day
@@fabioszuminski1123 your first Pope is Satan, Jesus Himself said so, Jesus said to Peter, 'Get thee behind Me Satan, you are an offense to Me!!!' The 'Rock' is Peter's statement of who Jesus is, 'The Christ (Messiah), the Son of the living GOD!!!' and on that statement (the ROCK) revealed by GOD to Peter, Christ said He would build His church and the gate's of hell would not prevail against it!!!'. Peter was a cursing, lying, denier of even knowing Jesus and of being His disciple. On second thought maybe he was telling the truth. Hail your first Pope! Where in Exodus 20 and in Det. 5 is the word 'STRANGE' used yet the RCC heirarchy inserted the word for a specific purpose. The Pope or Papa claim's to speak ex cathedra, for or in place of GOD! Do you kiss his ring, his foot, his big toe and his rear end??? Is he your god??? Canonizing dead people is to Deify them. The Bible condemn's talking to spirit's (dead people), King Saul did it, his job as king of Israel was to kill witch's which he didn't do and he was sentenced to death for his sin and he carried out his own sentence of death on himself. The commandment's were not numbered nor were there chapter's and verses in scripture but GOD's command's were broken up by subject's which the RCC altered substantially especially by adding what they wanted and by taking out what they didn't want and many RCC's are quite proud and boastful of the fact that they did it. There are some who go so far as not even have picture's of family and friend's but of those who do they usually don't talk to the pictures as if they are alive, and in another relm and can hear and talk back. Even an 👼 said, 'don't worship me, I am just a fellow servant!'. The only angel 😈 wanting to be worshipped has sinister motive's. As was Christ's custom He went into the synagogue almost every Sunday and stood up and read scripture to an empty synagogue because everyone else was out working in obedience to the 4th commandment to work six day's?!? I guess RCC's don't like working 6 day's a week so they left that out too! For fear of the being killed, working collecting Good's and money for offering's, preparing for the following day's journey, is that a worship rest day? Pagan's worshipped their 🌞 god on 🌞 day and Easter 🌞 day 🌞 rise services is substituted for Passover and almost alway's held at a different date on purpose because the RCC wanted to divorce themselve's from anything Jewish, even their Jewish Messiah who was turned into a God with a multiple personality mental disorder! The RCC say's you can not equate a human father and a human son with GOD the Father and Jesus Christ His Son because they say it is not like that at all. The RCC Atanasian Creed God is one being with three personalities. The Great Believer as apposed to the Great Pretender (modalism) and the three greatest actor's who ever lived who drew straws to see who would play the role of the Son God (Tritheism). Paul say's something about the man's body not being his own but his wife's and the woman's body not being her own but her husband's. Paul also said women are supposed to shut up and let the man explain thing's to them which most women have an extremely hard time doing. The way the RCC became so successful in history was in the way it dealt with it's opposition both within it's rank's and outside. The RCC has the right stance on abortion but then they turn around and condemn the child as an adult to the rack, the stake or to hell if they don't submit to man made, Satan inspired tradition's that are in opposition to GOD's law's and Christ's word's. Did I miss anything?

Dear Fr Barron,
I have been following your video clips for some time now and I must say that The Ten Commandments clip is by far the most inspiring, informative and enlightening so far.
Thank you for reminding me as a Christian what I do right in my life and what I am weak in.
Perfect video for Lent. Made me examine myself and prepares me for confession. Thanks Father.
geez i gave up that nonsense years ago
I also look forward to every Word On Fire exposition from Father Barron. God bless you! Father. Please pray for me.
Thanks for this review of the Ten Commandments today.
A+ Father Barron.
Thank you father 😇😇😇
Another excellent video by Fr. Barron. Also, excellent advice at the end. God Bless.
Bishop you have made so much difference to the world! Even if you are in US and I in Australia, i learn a lot from you.I pray for your good health, and thank God you are in our generation! God bless you!!!
Good explanations, Father Barron. GOD Bless!
Thanks Father Barron
All is all with God!
Bishop Barron, "Honour Thy Mother and Father", where does this fit when we have been abused, horribly abused as a child and this has had lifelong affects on our adult lives. God Bless.
It says nothing about parental responsibility towards their children. It should be a two way street.
Thank you Bishop and God bless you.
I like having a distinction between the 3 commandments loving God, and the 7 commandments loving neighbor.
Thank you father! God bless you!
Thank you for this.
Thanks Father.
Thanks for the great Video Father B!
God bless you! Fr. Please pray for me Fr. or anyone who reads this comment to do well in my upcoming Exams.
Thanks.
You got it. Good luck ☺
Thank you sir. God bless you!! :)
TheKevinError and you :-) just a suggestion: pray to St Thomas Aquinas for help with studies :-)
St. Joseph of Cuppertino is a great advocate for students - he helped me get my 3 boys to men through college! Look up his prayer, it is powerful!

Thank you both sooo much! God heard ur prayers and the Exams went well!!
God Bless u all. :D
Thank you Bishop Barron....another insightful and informative video. I have listened to most of your videos. God bless you more abundantly for your ministry.
Have always enjoyed your talks.I like the way you teach, not preach. Thanks, and God richly bless your ministry
The notion of coveting as desiring something or someone by virtue of their wider desirability is wholly accurate. Thank you for illuminating that. I believe it is a major ill, and major drive, within our society.
I've never had memetic desires.
I've loved people genuinely
Bishop Barron although I really like your videos and all the beautiful insights of God I can’t help but also say that you must consider using smaller words so a simpleton like moi can understand on the first go. Found myself checking more than a few words I’ve never heard before. Not a book worm here. But I thank you had to turn on the closed captioning
The principal in life. Or we can die without God, no no all is better with Him! 😇😇😇
Thank you so much for this explanation. I hope I can make these commandments my spiritual guide until Our Lord Almighty calls me home
The Breathe of the Souls! 😇😇😇👼🔥☄️🕊️💐
Useful video.
Exodus 20:1 And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
7 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lordblessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Thank you for this list of Scripture readings of the Commandments 😊
Remember you can kill with words too, so keep watch on what you say🧐

"IF YOU LOVE ME, KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS" - John 14v15
Please watch "Enforced Sunday Worship Laws" by Pastor Cox
Check Dr Pitre Brant video, he explains it really well
"Love your neighbour" means fellow men and women whether family or not. Is`nt it written "“If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them.
33And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that.
34And
if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is
that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in
full"
Bishop Robert barron, please make a vedio on soul, body, spirit.
THANK YOU JESUS CHRIST !
Amen.

Dear Father Barron, a friend of mine has left the Catholic Church because of the third commandment. I’m sorry for him as I don’t believe God will punish us because we love God on Sunday Monday Tuesday etc
I love God everyday and try to go to Mass every week, whether Saturday or Sunday or Monday, because life sometimes doesn’t allow it possible to go every Sunday.
All To true Bishop .. We will have to change this. Sounds Like we are all the Church of Ephesus in Revelations..

Exodus 20:20
We should fulfill our mass obligation every Sunday. This is harder for me than I ever expected.
+nevermind2886 Sounds plausible.
Hi, Father. Thank you for your videos all these years. I have two quick questions.
1. Is Yahweh, Almighty God of the OT to be identified with The Most Holy Trinity, or only with God the Father? and
2. Did you ever talk to Fr. Benedict Groeschel?
Thank you!
Hey now you're a rockstar
I like how you used the word "incarnate" in the middle of the third minute :)
Thanks to Catholic school, I have them memorized!
Thanks for this Father Barron. I'm wondering if you can post an examination of conscience based on this on your website? :)
I’m trying to make sense of all different interpretations of God’s Law, and I don’t understand why Bishop Barron left out the idolatry parts 😫. Can someone explain?
It’s a shame the church has closed mass for its members at this time. Makes it hard to keep the sabbath holy.
Christopher Hitchens' video on the Ten Commandments is another great explanation on this topic. Well done
Do you happen to have computer programming experiance (2:50)?

The Sabbath is between Friday evening to Saturday morning, is that not the period to be kept holy?
Not for Catholics since sabbath was changed by the church from 7th to 1st. Which I think is completely wrong

Where is the Commandment against idolatry? Seems like it was missing on a couple of the images.
It's the very first one. Listen again.
There are errors in the enunciation of the commandments. Where is the commandment 'Thou shalt not make images to worship'? What's more, the true order of the commandments has been changed in today's scriptures, for the Sabbath used to be the tenth and last commandment, the fulfillment of all, the key to salvation.
*THE IMMUTABLE LAW OF GOD*
*I* I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
*II* *Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth*
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
*III* Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
*IV* Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Exodus 20:4
I love what you said about all of the Ten Commandments, and although you mentioned that you shouldn't worship statues and things the like, "thou shall not make unto thee any graven image" is actually the 2nd commandment solely. And the 9th and 10th for coveting is actually only one, not two commandments. I mean no disrespect, but do not understand why your listed Ten commandments is different than in the Bible.
There's two versions of them in the Bible, he referred to the later version that the Roman Rite commonly refers to and quite frankly is more suitable for modern society .
Apparently there are two (maybe three?) sets of "10 commandments" in the Bible.
Why is that and why have we stuck with this particular set?
Peter because they all come out essentially the same
I’m probably the only baptist here searching for baptist music....
Yup
I'm not a Protestant or Catholic, but I have to say for those who will use the argument that Catholic worships idols it is a strawman. Making images and worshiping are two separate things. If they are the same thing, you can't have toys, photographs, cartoon sculptures, etc. So arguing that they worship images just because they have them in their churches is a dishonest argument.
Theology class, anyone?
Why has the 2nd commandment been dropped? Why has the 10th commandment now become 9 and 10?
"Life belongs to God" - will synthetic man mad life also belong to God when it comes?
I just wish the Catholic and Anglican Church would practice the true Sabbath
If Desiring what other ppl desire is wrong, does it also mean that competition is wrong??
Sir, the second commanment is " do not practice idolatry" Exodus 20:4-6. Why are you leaving this out? Prove me wrong!! With scripture!!!
That sounds like it falls under the sixth commandment to me, wouldn't you say, Mr. Beckett?
Isn't sabbath the seventh day?
The three headed God of the Roman Catholic idol worshipers isn't a 'STRANGE' God to them and their three headed God is 👌 ok 👌 with them changing the day of rememberance from Saturday (the 7th day) to Sunday ☀ (the 1st day), a change for which there is no scriptural authority.
A.LaVerne Filan
I would gladly debate you on that right now
@@fabioszuminski1123 The first commandment was changed to be able to deify the pope and their three headed God and deify all their saint's who to them are transformed, sanctified, sinner's represented by Pagan statue's reconfigured!
A.LaVerne Filan
The Catholic Church did not change the first Commandment and it does not protect the pope or the saints, The first commandment is to protect God and his Holiness.
And no all god’s are strange to the Catholic Church That argument is a strawman no Catholic makes that argument
It is a part of the first comment tell me where does it say in the Bible that it’s the second one there is no listing or in other words no sorting out what command goes in what category.
The 10th commandment was not changed again look at the listing of Deuteronomy 5 then you’ll know why it’s split and if you don’t then I’ll give you a video to explain it more in detail
And no the woman is not her fathers property God owns the woman not the father and plus if the father gave her in marriage that means the husband owns her now so you didn’t deposit anything out of that argument.
First of all there is evidence of The Catholic Church is authority
In Matthew 16:18 Jesus said to Simon
You are Peter and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against if you continue reading in the next verse 19 and I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven according to this passage the Catholic Church could make different laws and other things like this but they cannot change Jesus is official teaching just wanna make that clear.
I thought the fifth commandment was though shall not murder???
its been written that way
Im here because of homework.
2 commandment is do not make yourself graven images and do not worship them
Trying to think if there is anyone whose personal idolatry may be seeking popular adulation.
