I get the impression that Spotify tried to not make a 'basic' playlist of all the classics you'd expect, but then chose a bunch of songs without breakdowns
Get that not all the songs have breakdowns which is weird for a playlist literally named breakdowns BUT holy shit is that a good playlist so many underrated hardcore bands. Love to see it. And would love to see more
didnt even give scowl a fucking chance bro ... and its my fav song too .... like yeah i wouldve chosen a song off how flowers grow and not psychic dance routine but come onnnn dude nik i believed in you

Spotify desperately needs some new talent in their "naming playlists" department. None of these songs really sounded bad to me, though. Brings me back to OG Mechassault. Just a bizarre choice for a name.
hey nik, if you're looking for a new band with breakdowns (or a band that i see get compared to knocked loose a lot) I would heavily recommend listening to mouthbreather. they just recently released a new album called "self-tape" and its pretty damn good. my fav track is ethical hunting. I never really comment to recommend bands but I feel like you would like them plus they are kinda local to me and they deserve more attention.
Just as well you named the specific song, there are about eight bands called mouth breather for some reason, didn’t realise this was the go-to name for a band 😂
I'm glad Poppy's Spit made it, super slipknot sounding more than their last two albums, but I'm surprised Unholy Confessions didn't make it on the playlist. The breakdown at the end, especially when they slow it down live, is amazing
The playlist is really good, but IMO is very incorrectly named. Hardcore is awesome, but this playlist was always going to piss off Nik’s very metal centric audience by being called “the breakdown”
The day I discovered Scowl was the day I realized that metalcore itself is not a genre, but it's a plethora of dozens of subgeneres combined into one category. I honestly love how so many bands can take other genres, throw screams and heavy riffs in, and totally make it their own and something new. To me, Scowl does that in their entire cassette (yes, cassette). Highly recommend looking more into them if you're interested.
The playlist should be called the Core not the Breakdown because it is essentially what's new and fresh in the Hardcore Scene... and the Core playlist vice versa...
Burst actually has some really sick stuff especially in their albums Lazarus Bird and Origo, but it’s more like Mastodon meets Opeth styled Progressive Metal with some post metal and hardcore influences.
This video is basically nik finding out what modern hardcore is LMFAO imo i honestly enjoy these types of breakdowns more cause they're not overproduced like alot of modern metal is nowadays. Makes it feel more angry and authentic imo
As soon as I saw Scowl on the cover I figured that was what it was going to be. Hardcore breakdowns are just a different type of breakdown (my preferred type I cannot lie) that I didn’t figure would be represented on this channel sadly
god i hate modern hardcore, sounds all the same. i miss the 90s 20s beatdown hardcore bands. shattered realm, bulldoze, billy club sandwich, no retreat, one second thought. so much better than this bullshit
@@casscasscasscassss Yeah, and? We're in the modern era now, the word "breakdown" means breakdown. It doesn't somehow jumble itself into a completely different meaning that of "punk and hardcore"

@@eatdaaaa9984 I listen to music for the lyrics mostly. I like the stories that come from the combined minds and souls of bands. Whatever that was didn't come from combined minds or souls. That came straight from their asses lmao
That playlist is kinda meh for breakdowns, but the breakdown mix, spotify algorithm made for me is lit, with bands like Jiluka, Thrown, Aviana (on top of the obvious Lorna, Slaughter, Knocked Loose and Darko)
i love your videos so much as a Kpop fan. Your Unforgiven cover was slaying and i want more Kpop songs' metal cover. i am sure that you will never break that vibes. Also could you make a reaction video for "LALALALA"s ROCK VERSION from STRAY KIDS????

Commenting both for the algorithm and hoping that this pushes the comment up more, I'd love to see Nik's take on this!
Yesss! Do it Nik!😤

Jaaaaa bitte nik
Spotify should make a white noise playlist, because they'd fuck it up and hopefully give us more bangers.
They did.

Spotify needs to provide lossless audio. The only streaming provider that lacks it.
This is why I use Apple Music
Agreed, but I still use spotify to discover new music. It's catalog is just too damn big.
Exactly why I use Tidal

The breakdown in "Endless" by Unearth is a top 5 breakdown of all time. This new era of heavy is ridiculous.
I'm glad someone else feels the same I do about that breakdown
Unearth's breakdowns are top-notch. I always loved the one in Bled Dry.
Tbh this is a decent playlist. Just on the more hardcore side of things. Not exactly ADTR style breakdowns but definitely some bangers in there

Infant Island, but no Infant Annihilator. 😤
