Aaron Burr gave Theodosia what then would have been called a boys education - saw to it that she studied not only French, music and dancing like the girls would but also arithmetic, Latin and Greek, and had her reading stuff like 'The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire' when she was still a kid. His way of giving her everything I guess. Hamilton wrote a letter about Philip when he was 7 months old saying that he had 'the most agreeable manners and conversation I have ever known', and that some have said that his way of waving his hands whenever he speaks means he might be a great orator one day, but that sadly he was still awkward on his legs and that some fear he will never be graceful as a dancer. I find both so heart-warming.
I love this song very much; it’s my favorite in “Hamilton”. This is what’s known as dramatic irony, and it’s tragic that both outlived their oldest children.
My favorite thing about the video is how much of the time he spends just watching Jane melt with emotion. You can’t help but think of the people you love when you hear this song
hey I know yall are mainly reacting to Szin Hamilton animatics (bless the lord I love the) but when you get to the song burn rather than listening to the regular one you should see the extended version First Burn and the animatic is amazing
i got the notif 2 hours ago and was so sad bc i had to wait until now when i closed to watch 🥺🥺 this song is soo sweet it makes me tear up everytime it is the purest most wholesome song like... dads LOVING their kids is such a wonderful heart warming thing i knew you guys would love this as parents yourselves ♡ ALSO 1:00-1:02 omg Jane's face :') (also me listening to this song)
And here's the tragedy that ultimately happened. Philip died due to a duel like his father, while Theodosia died at sea on the way to bring evidence that would have exonerated her father from the murder charges brought against him. In his younger years Hamilton would have killed Burr instead of throwing away his shot and probably would have told his son to do the same but his change in attitude ultimately led to his own death, his son's death, and Theodosia's death. But for those three to stay alive, both Eaker and Burr would have had to die in those moments. Really makes you think, huh?
Jane and JV Music What’s worse is that after she dies, two years later her husband does as well and Burr is left alone in the world for 2 more decades without anyone to love. Plus he was going to resign when his wife got sick before she died to take care of her (which could’ve avoided the whole Duel thing in “world was wide enough”) But his wife insisted on him not doing so, to keep working and that she’ll be fine.
'Soliloquy' from 'Carousel' - after a man who's never been that much good at anything finds out he's going to be a father: "I wonder what he'll think of me, I guess he'll call me the "old man" I guess he'll think i can lick Ev'ry other feller's father Well, i can! I bet that he'll turn out to be The spittin' image of his dad But he'll have more common sense Than his puddin-headed father ever had I'll teach him to wrestle And dive through a wave When we go in the mornin's for our swim His mother can teach him The way to behave But she won't make a sissy out o' him Not him! Not my boy! Not bill! Bill... My boy bill I will see that he is named after me, i will. My boy, bill! He'll be tall And tough as a tree, will bill! Like a tree he'll grow With his head held high And his feet planted firm on the ground And you won't see nobody dare to try To boss or toss him around! No pot-bellied, baggy-eyed bully Will boss him around. I don't give a hang what he does As long as he does what he likes! He can sit on his tail Or work on a rail With a hammer, hammering spikes! He can ferry a boat on a river Or peddle a pack on his back Or work up and down The streets of a town With a whip and a horse and a hack. He can haul a scow along a can*l Run a cow around a corral Or maybe bark for a carousel Of course it takes talent to do that well. Aha-ha-ha-ha! He might be a champ of the heavyweights, Or a feller that sells you glue, Or president of the united states, That'd be all right, too His mother would like that But he wouldn't be president if he didn't wanna be! Not bill! My boy, bill! He'll be tall And as tough as a tree, will bill Like a tree he'll grow With his head held high And his feet planted firm on the ground And you won't see nobody dare to try To boss him or toss him around! No fat-bottomed, flabby-faced, Pot-bellied, baggy-eyed bully Will boss him around. And i'm hanged if he'll marry his boss' daughter A skinny-lipped virgin with blood like water Who'll give him a peck And call it a kiss And look in his eyes through a lorgnette... Hey, why am i talkin' on like this? My kid ain't even been born, yet! I can see him when he's seventeen or so, And startin' to go with a girl I can give him lots of pointers, very sound On the way to get 'round any girl I can tell him ... Wait a minute! Could it be? What the hell! What if he is a girl? What would i do with her? What could i do for her? A bum with no money! You can have fun with a son But you gotta be a father to a girl She mightn't be so bad at that A kid with ribbons in her hair! A kind o' sweett and petite Little tin-type of her mother! What a pair! My little girl Pink and white As peaches and cream is she My little girl Is half again as bright As girls are meant to be! Dozens of boys pursue her Many a likely lad does what he can to woo her From her faithful dad She has a few Pink and white young fellers of two or three But my little girl Gets hungry ev'ry night and she comes home to me! I-i got to get ready before she comes! I got to make certain that she Won't be dragged up in slums With a lot o' bums like me She's got to be sheltered And fed and dressed In the best that money can buyi never knew how to get money, But, i'll try, i'll try! I'll try! I'll go out and make it or steal it Or take it or die!
@@janeandjvmusic1988 You did? I'm going to go watch it immediately then. Sorry if I came off as rude, that wasn't my intention. I really enjoy your reactions! (I probably missed it because it wasn't in the playlist)

I love how Jane is so into the song. Like, she knows this feeling so well!
This one’s just beautiful. Fun fact: Lin Manuel Miranda wrote this song about his dog, Tobillo!
His dog will blow us all awayyy
Please see Lauren's interlude it's the next song and the reason Eliza was holding a letter at the end of the song
Both kids sadly died young - Burr's daughter died at sea, and Hamilton's son, of course, died in a duel defending his father's reputation.
I love this song very much; it’s my favorite in “Hamilton”. This is what’s known as dramatic irony, and it’s tragic that both outlived their oldest children.
HOW THE HECK DID I NOT NOTICE ELIZA HOLDING THE LETTER AT THE END THATS SO SAD AND I'M PROBABLY GONNA GO CRY NOW
What does it say
daisy baril it’s the letter from Lauren’s father saying he died.
THE LETTER IN THE END ATTACKS MEH!!!
Damn.. When Burr says that he will make mistakes, he puts his pistol away. Smart Szin! Just realized that.
1:19 thats a beautiful depiction of that lyric
I know this song is sad but you should react to Dear Theodiosia Reprise
omfg Noooooo 😭😭😭😭
bruuh
I love this song shows how Hamilton and Burr's paths ran almost in paralel to one another and only by bad stroke of chance then they clashed.
make sure to do Laurens Interlude as well as Dear Theodosia Reprise!!!!

Next is Lauren’s interlude! But it’s really short so maybe you can react to Lauren’s interlude and Non-stop in the same video?

I love your reaction to this. ❤️
Eliza was just popping out babies all the time honestly 😂👏🏾.
Please continue!
The man who played Burr in the musical said that when singing this song he was praying for her not yet born daughter :'(
Am I wrong or does he look like Burr??
Laurens interlude please!!!!!
this song is sad knowing history. the play shows Hamiltons kids death but burrs kid dies in her 20s too
Hamilton: Look at my son
Hamilton's other kids: What about us?
Hamilton: Yeah, yeah, you too
Hamilton's kids: yey:3
Did anyone notice at the end Eliza was holding another letter?
Fun fact: not only does Phillip die but theodosia gets lost at sea and dies there
Fun?? Lol. So sad!!
