Fun fact: they typically use guns in this song, but because this performance was done the day after a tragic shooting, they omitted the guns as a sign of respect.
i know Im asking randomly but does anybody know a trick to get back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost the login password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me!
Seems like they skipped 3 songs between Ten Duel Commandments and History Has It's Eyes On You/Yorktown. Meet Me Inside That Would Be Enough Guns and Ships
@@orcanimal theyve already watched the whole series. This one was just uploaded out of order. I was there at the livestreams and they did react to all songs in order, those songs you mentioned just havent been uploaded yet.
Oh my gosh, sincerely thank you, I was kinda concerned and I never would've expected someone to comment about the matter because I'm often left confused with no explanation when stuff like this happens. I know this sounds silly since it's just a video, but still.
Quick History Lesson!...Almost a Year Later. During the British surrender at Yorktown in 1781, the British fifes and drums began playing the drinking song called the World Turned Upside Down. The first verses were: If ponies rode men and grass ate cows, If summer were spring or the other way round, Then all the world, Would be turned upside down. As they marched through Lafayette chose to counter this by ordering the American fifes and drums to start playing "Yankee Doodle" which the British had used earlier in the war to make fun of the American soldiers they faced. Some of those same men who were beaten by the British were present for the latter's surrender at Yorktown...some five years later.
I saw an interview with Lin on Jimmy Fallon a few weeks ago. He said a history teacher had reached out to him to talk to his students about American history, particularly the revolution. Lin said he talked about history, and using primary sources. He also told the students he can take creative license because he's a creative artist but the kids can't take creative license on their essays/exams LOL.
I mean, Ron Chernow took issue with the implication that Alexander was quick to violence with the "punched the bursar" bit, but has never mentioned the three Schuyler brothers erased from history in five words, "My father has no sons...", so if a historian is okay with _that_ creative of creative license, I feel like students should be allowed at least a bit of creative license on exams. 🤣
So the Tony Awards was the day after the Orlando Pulse night club shooting. They had already picked this song and couldn’t change it. Lin-Manuel decided to keep the song but they did have guns like they normally would during the show in this song. ❤️
My one regret is I had heard a bit about Hamilton when I was in middle school when it started, but I had no interest in musicals and I tuned out the conversation I overheard it mentioned in. IT WAS BACK WHEN THE ORIGINAL CAST WAS STILL ALL THERE AND IT DIDN'T COST MORE MONEY THAN I AM WORTH.
Lin recorded the original cast and will release when he feels enough people have had the opportunity to see it lives. Both acts can be found on you tube. You just have to find it before it get taken down. Also watch, Working with Lemons, they perform a number of the songs with beautiful costumes and sets.
@@krypticpanda6670 yes! I sobbed watching them sing that in Obama’s last days...I don’t know how they all kept it together. Although you could see some supporting cast singing with tears running down their faces. I just ugly cry every time I see it. It’s sooooo good.
Unfortunately, the experience of watching Tony is not the same. First of all, the performance was done the day after a tragic shooting(that was very kind of them), so the dancers / cast cannot use the weapons they use on the show for real. If you notice, at various times during Tonny's presentation, they move their hands as if they were holding and moving something invisible, which in the show are the weapons, which is amazing. The way they handle weapons while dancing and everything. The lighting is also very different from Broadway performances, Tonny's has white spotlights all the time on the sides. On Broadway there are fewer white lights and the lighting is more colorful. But I understand that this video from Tonny was very important, because there was no Hamilton in any streaming service, so who couldn't see it in person had a sample of the show, which is incredible! The other way was if the person wanted to research "how to make slime" lol :)
I love that the Obama’s love Hamilton. They saw it live twice, introduced it here, and had the main cast come preform at the White House right before Obama left office. I can’t imagine how much of an honor it was for Lin to have the President be such a big fan of his work.
It's 4 am in my country and i couldn't help clapping at the end haha, they are so great, seriously i love this musical ! 😍 Also they invited them at the white house again after too so i hope you could watch it, it's so nice ! 😍❤💜💜
"Wouldn't this be so cool for like a history lesson?" I owe my Hamilton addiction to my high school U.S. History teacher, who played "Cabinet Battle 1" for us.
It's fun if you can watch it with someone close. I watched it with my sister-in-law. We were both trying to hide our faces from each other to hide the fact we were crying the whole time 😛 You know I believe LMM even thought of Common when he was scripting George Washington. Like Hercules Mulligan's awesome name made him immediately picture a Busta Rhymes character. And for G.W. he was thinking Common, John Legend, etc.
this comment is 10 months late lol but i didn't see anyone else mention it and i thought you guys might wanna know...they took the guns out of this performance because the tonys were literally the day after the pulse nightclub massacre happened and they did it out of respect for the victims.
I'm gonna say it, and I'm only gonna say it once: If the Revolutionary War were a dance fight, it would've won with this tactic. I'm not changing my mind.
You guys missed a bunch of songs between Ten Duel Commandments This performance is technically 2 songs - History Has It's Eyes On You + Yorktown, which do combine well (as many of the songs in the play often lead to the next one) But after Ten Duel Commandments and before these 2 songs you've got 3 other songs - Meet Me Inside - That Would Be Enough - Guns and Ships - Those would be worth watching before you proceed because there's some info and themes/motifs that come back later. This whole play is full of motifs though, so it's impossible to catch everything the first time.
the whitehouse and government at the time wanted to commit genocide with native Americans and didnt mind if blacks were included ,they aslo were for getting rid of slaves but not theirs and def did not want women to be involved or included with government also this is a complete copy of the 1776 movie and play!!!
I don't know if you can exactly copy it when all of these events are based on history. Not to mention, the source material of Hamilton is a book titled Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chenrow, who played a big role in making sure most of the events of the play were accurate.
Fun fact: they typically use guns in this song, but because this performance was done the day after a tragic shooting, they omitted the guns as a sign of respect.
I’d rewatched this so many times it was a surprise in the movie.
The night after the Pulse shooting right 😓🙏🏿

The woman that clasps hands with Laurens is "The Bullet". She always appears next to people who are about to die.
No Laurens!!!
not entirely true. She appears next to many people without them about to die. It's once she touches them that they're marked for death.

Had I not read the comments, Idk if I would've noticed the absence of guns, the ensemble was so good it felt like the usual thing.
