  • This is just a video on changing the brakes on a Jeep Renegade.
It's pretty straight forward but there are a couple things worth mentioning.
Hopefully it helps someone out there.

there is a brake service mode in the settings on the radio that will retract the rear caliper pistons for you with the motors that operate the electronic emergency brake.

That's what I came here to find out. I'm always a little cautious about pushing fluid back to the master cylinder. Some makes and models it's a no no. Found it. Thanks!

Roy - thank you. Your comment here, coupled with this gentleman’s video, both saved the day, more than you could possibly believe. Brakes were $200 but here in HI they wanted $1,200 to do this process. So I did it.

I wanted to add that a lot of new rotors need to be sprayed and cleaned before installation with brake cleaner to remove the film or oil that is on it after production. If I recall correctly companies due this to aid in storage life.

If it's stuck, put your feet here...and break your legs 🤣
Easiest method is to crank it up and turn the wheel slightly until it pops off.

Hope you have changed both brake discs of the same axle at same time, it's cheap and safe.
Check procedures if brake caliper fixing screws should be replaced when brake discs are changed, because red thread-locker is used.

It just retracts into the caliper. Then the forest time you set it it takes an extra moment to calibrate itself.
