Love that you are continuing Fomo and honouring Alice. I may do a reread of To Kill A Mockingbird since I haven read it since I was a teenager. Never Let Me Go has been on my shelf forever too. A Fine Balance is incredible but it will rip your heart out. It got an honourable mention because so many people voted on it but it was published in 1995 so it couldn’t be on the Best Can Lit Books of the 21st Century. 😊💙
I just bought Cloud Cuckoo Land this summer in honor of Alice. I can’t think of a better way to read it than with the FOMO book club. So pleased that it will be continuing.

I love the sound of some of these picks and will need to try and tune in! It has been so many years since to kill a mockingbird and it is one that you can have discussions around it. I have the unpopular opinion of not actually being a big fan of it! I read eragon when I was a child / teenager as well and even reread the (trilogy) at the time. It would be fun to see a discussion on it. Several years since I read never let me go as well and I wasn't a big fan either but I know lots of people really love it. So it is one to really discuss and see the different opinions on it. A fine balance is a chunky one. Both that and a clockwork orange are both waiting for me on my shelf and I would love to read them both!!

Hello Jack, I dislike discord. I can’t figure it out and only have it on my desktop which is that convenient. We did March mystery madness on discord and I tried my best. Hi buddy red on Voxer where there was more than 4 to 5 people, but maybe it wouldn’t be good for a larger group. I heard about most of these books and I’ll tell you one that I absolutely will not read and I was even afraid to watch the movie and that’s Clockwork Orange. I’m a real baby when it comes to violence of any kind in a book. I’m actually tempted to with never let me go. I started it once and put it down because it was so different from the other books he wrote. Well all the books he writes are different from each other. I remember Alice talking about cloud cuckoo land, but the set up doesn’t sound like a book for me. But I might look into it. Alice gave me so many suggestions and most of them I bought because they weren’t at the library being new British books. One that I bought because of her was ‘Careless’ by Kirsty Capes It was on a list and that was the only book on a prize list that I liked and Alice liked it so I bought it and I still have it. It’s a keeper and of course there were many other mystery books That she recommended. She is very much missed in the community, not only because she was a spectacular person, but the books she suggested were ones That are not often mentioned in the community, And desired, especially my little circle. I am glad you are continuing with the club and I will send positive vibes to you and Gemma for continuing the book club. Aloha friend.
Voxer tends to be better for me for small group or buddy reads. I really cannot get on with Discord. I also really enjoyed Careless because of Alice. Thank you so much for your words of support Marilyn - it means a lot 🤍
