    We have domed buildings like that in our area. They are used to store salt for road use in the winter. Greetings from NE Ohio USA.

    Holy Moly, holy Mackeral Michael, you don't look very becoming first thing in the morning's, after you've just risen, but then again nobody does, "like death warmed up" as the Brits say, ha, ha. Thanks again you guys ...

    We have lots of these dome buildings in Canada, called sand domes, used to store salt and sand for winter road maintenance.

    There used to be a sign on the Caen Hill locks not to let the swans through the locks as they would attack each others young.

    You did the right thing with the swans. I doubt they would be able to escape a lock (empty, particularly, but possibly also full). They take off by running along the surface of the water, and can't just spring into the air like small birds. I doubt they can takeoff with just 70 feet of water, or they would likely struggle with it. In a deep and empty narrow lock, I don't think there would be any chance for them to escape.

      @@MinimalList Yeah, it's a salt building on the surface, but don't be fooled, its true purpose is to camouflage the entrance to an underground stargate installation which receives power from electric supply lines camouflaged as feeders for the railway & stargates generate quite a bit of heat when operating so it uses heat sinks strung along underground just below the canal bottom. And remember, if that sounds too implausible, there is much truth disguised as fiction: remember the following, "Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; Truth isn’t.-Pudd’nhead Wilson’s New Calendar." Pudd’nhead Wilson was the name of a fictional character in a novel Twain published a few years before the travel book. Thus, Twain was the actual crafter of the remark"

      @@scottfw7169 That building has either got shape-shifting properties or it has been replaced since 2017. The Google Maps overhead view shows the dome shaped building, whilst the StreetView version date 2017 shows a rectangular building on the same site.

    Would investing in a pram cover not help with winter cruising? ....great vlog as always......thanks for sharing

    • @MinimalList
      @MinimalList  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It could do, but they’re quite expensive to get retrofitted, and for some reason they’re very rare on semi-trad sterns like ours, so it’s possibly an even more bespoke job. We don’t cruise enough in the rain to justify that kind of expense, but if we were getting a new boat it’d be something we’d consider looking for. M

    I am too late to the party to say the building is a salt store. High enough to keep a winters worth of salt plus room for the aching to load the spreaders.
    But I will be pedantic and say Bilsborrow is pronounced Bilsburra. Loving the vlogs on our canal whilst drinking out of my new mug. 👍🏻
