I got my Social Security benefit at the age of 62. But Bever applied for Madicare at the age of 65. Now I am 70 years old and will be 71 soon. I would like to know... 1) If I have to pay a penalty for not getting Medicare insurance at 65! And if so, how much will it be? . 2) What will be the best time to apply for Madicare Insurance?
You need to call the Social Security office. They should have all the details regarding your Medicare. You will be required to have Medicare Part A and Part B in order to apply for a Medicare Supplemental plan.
So turning 65. Employer over 20 employees. No HSA. My group health insurance premium is under $200 month for spouse and myself. Spouse is 64. Do I just sign up for Medicare Part A only and my health insurance through employer will keep paying (for spouse and I) until I retire in 3 years?
That sounds like the best option for you. Make sure to check with your Benefits admin at your employer to make sure the coverage is creditable drug coverage as good as or better than Medicare Part D
Hi there! I'm a bit confused about the sign up window. If I turned 65 in April, do I have until the end of July to sign up for Medicare? I really appreciate your help!
That is correct. Unless your birhday falls on the 1st of the month. Then it would be end of June. If you are still working and will delay Medicare then the situation would be different as to when you can apply, so contact our office and we can help you.
Very helpful video. Turning 65 in September. Still working but plan to retire in January. I want to make sure I have Medicare by the end of the year because I will no longer have employer provided insurance in January. How long does it usually take to get approved and be covered by Medicare? Can I still sign up for Parts A & B now even if I will have employer insurance for a few more months? Thanks!
If your employer has less than 20 employees than you'll be required to sign up for Medicare A&B when you're first eligible. If they have 20 or more employees than you should be able to sign up for Part A only at no cost. But you will not be able to contribute to a Health Savings Account while on any part of Medicare. Part B can be delayed until you drop employer coverage. For most people there is a cost for Part B.
How should I sign up for Medicare? I am 77 years old, arrived in America in 2016 (refugee) and receive SSI. I am an American citizen now. What form do I need to fill out to get Medicare?
Me and my mom are working on this application. So in the section were it asks "Do you wish to apply for Medicare only, but not for the monthly".......I hit yes but I get an error and cant continue because it says she doesnt qualify in one or two places. We are only doing medicare a and b. Ive tried calling and emailing for help so hoping you can help me here. Thanks!

Thanks@@USAMedicarePlan
I receive survivor's Social Security from my husband. Does this also mean I'm already enrolled in Medicare? I don't turn 65 until June of 2026.
You should be able to qualify based on his work history. Contact the Social Security office and they will help you.
