      Not typically, but It depends on the state where you live. Some states have rules that allow those changes for specific times in the year. Too much criteria to list here, so it's best to give us a call and we'll be glad to help you.

      You'll have to apply for assistance through the state. You can go in person to the local Medicaid office or apply online on the state Medicaid website. The Medicare Savings Program is part of the state's assistance programs with Medicaid.

    At the top of the Extra Help application it says if you have Medicare and Medicaid DO NOT complete the application as you will be automatically enrolled. My Disabled Adult Son (DAC) - receives Social Security DAC benefits based on my work credit history (a type of SSDI) and is already on Maryland state Medicaid (healthcare & waiver program) and is becoming eligible for Medicare on June 1, 2024 after the 24 month SSDI wait period. When he was mailed the Medicare Part A & B card recently he also received from Social Security the application for Extra Help. So I am confused as to whether he has to apply for Extra Help or not, and if he does get automatically enrolled, shouldn't he receive a letter about that? If he does need to fill out the application, does his Maryland ABLE account (a special savings account to protect government benefits for the disabled) get listed as a resource or not? Thanks

    • @USAMedicarePlan
      @USAMedicarePlan 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Your son should be automatically enrolled in Extra Help for Part D if he has Medicaid. You should not need to fill out the applications. You can also call Social Security to confirm that since he has state Medicaid, he will be enrolled in the Extra Help program.

    I'm a Federal Employee covered by FEHB and age 64, I will work till age 67. I am also a dual citizen of the US and Switzerland. At retirement I will move permanently to Switzerland and Medicare will be of no use to me. My plan is to sign up for Medicare Part A soon (as required) and forego Part B after I've retired. In the time between start of retirement and actual move to Switzerland, about 1 year, I will keep my FEHB coverage along with my Medicare Part A. I understand the potential cost increases (10% per year) if I decide to stay in the US but sign up for Medicare Part B outside the enrollment period. My concern is, if at retirement I sign up for Medicare Part B, and then a year or so later move to Switzerland, it will be difficult to stop Medicare Part B premiums from being taken out of my Federal pension (FERS). I would be interested in you opinion. Thank you.

    Hmm thought I posted this guess not, please correct or confirm the following. I need to delay my part B as I am on my spouse's plan till she retires. I have everything ready to apply for Part A and NOT enroll in Medicare Part B. I entered under Group Health Plan my wife's start date for Group health (employment) plan and my start date under that plan (health insurance coverage). Under remarks I re stated my intentions. I believe that when my wife's health plan terminates I have 8 months to start another application enrolling in part B with cms (40B, L564) as attachments. This will allow me to start Part B with no penalties and defer paying for part B. Sorry for the confusion .. I just want to get this right.

    • @USAMedicarePlan
      @USAMedicarePlan 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are correct and will upload the forms for Part B once you are ready to apply for it. You don't need to input any remarks for Part A or intentions for Part B. You will apply for Part B once your group plan will be ending, that way you have no gaps.

      Some Medicare plans may offer annual food card allowances for those with both Medicaid and Medicare. Not everyone will qualify for this. If you have state Medicaid please contact our office and we will let you know if there is a plan available in your area.

      Your best option is to go in person to the Social Security office near you. We do not have access to your work history or personal records so we cannot advise you on this, but Social Security has all that information for you.

      @@USAMedicarePlan Thank you for replying, I have applied in person that seems there is no automatically enrollment for lifetime SSI beneficiaries who never worked in USA,

    Very informative video. Keep up the good work. Am working past age 65 and covered under FEHB which I intend to carry into retirement. Since I have an 8 month window to sign up for Medicare when I stop working, can I apply and receive Social Security say in January and apply for Medicare say in July or August?

    • @USAMedicarePlan
      @USAMedicarePlan ปีที่แล้ว

      You can apply for your Social Security at any time from when you are first eligible. That is separate from your Medicare enrollment, which will be within the 8 month window. Contact the Social security office for more details on your work history and benefits.
