- Classic performance from the early days of the band's New Jersey tour! Unfortunately, three songs were omitted from the final cut: Homebound Train, Let It Rock and Get Ready. Jon is visibly exhausted here and straining his vocals a bit, but that leads to one of my favourite Wanted Dead Or Alive performances since it kind of captures what the song's about for me!
Originally, I had tried some "experimental" sound, but YT's own compression kinda killed the idea a bit and made it sound very metallic, so I went back and did a much more "basic" remaster of the original audio track. The show had some weird mixing that fans can't put the finger on in terms of the band sounding different than on most other known recordings from the time.
The video also lost a bit on here since the old original tape transfer had a bit of "natural grain" if you will and I tried to utilize that to enhance some picture details. With YT's compression washing that out, it went out the window, but it's still very decent to watch. I took some time to work on several levels of that contrast to gain a bit more detail.

I'm only halfway through, but this show is amazing.
I shouldn't have to say that because THIS is the Bon Jovi I remember and loved so much in the first place. Sometimes you just need a reminder though, because Jon's current voice issues aside, this is when they WERE all the real band that made us buy the records.
The sound the original line up put out (even in this 30 odd year old recording) was full, in your face and they totally replicated the studio releases and even more so.
There was no need for Bobby Bandiera and John Shanks to provide a 2nd and 3rd additional guitar, OR a fiddle player OR a percussionist banging on bongos and tambourines that weren't on the records.
These 5 brothers (as they definitely still came across at this point) played majestically together and sounded incredible.
THIS WAS and always will be Bon Jovi to me.
@hAnD90 In contrast to some claims Jon did not have any of the same vocal issues from the Slippery trek during the NJ Syndicate tour. It’s just that by the last couple months late 89/early 90 Jon and the boys were just exhausted and shattered physically
He also had vocal coaching before the NJ tour kickoff to avoid the same problems from the SWW trek
@@otismack5748 And I never said that. Only that he was straining a bit more by late 1988 than most of 1989 where he had settled into a vocal pattern that he could sustain.

Yea I feel the same way. I saw them live with Alec many times and he had a great voice. Those 80’s and 90’s Jovi albums were so damn great. I’m 51 now and it’s so cool that my daughters love Jovi too
I absolutely love the 7800 degrees Fahrenheit album. It’s a damn shame Jon doesn’t play songs from it anymore.Me and my high school buddies still jam to that album on a regular basis
