- Getting really close to a Tardigrade which are also known as little water bears. These microscopic animals can often be found in moss samples which is a harsh environment to live in: These biotopes frequently alternate between high humidity and absolute dryness, that means that animals that want to survive have to be exteremely well adapted. The Tardigrade is one of them. They can surive in extreme conditions such as radiation, dehydration, starvation and changes in temperature and pressure. Nothing is a threat to this cute small water bear !
I found this water bear in a moss sample and observed it with an Olympus Vanox AHBT3 microscope in DIC. I used an Olympus SPlanAPo 20/0,7 and NPL Fluotar 50/1,0 oil objective. The camera was a Panasonic S1.
I was careful to allow the water bear enough space between the microscopic slide and the cover glass to still allow the observation of its natural movements.
Amazing quality! The Olympus DIC is really great!
DIC is awesome. You did a great job dialing it in like that.
Great video👍
Thank you :)
🙂
Excellent work! First time I see a tardigrade in DIC.
Gorgeous footage!! Does your vanox have the 20x prism or were you able to use the 40x prism for the 20x objective?
Great and very interesting video. Thanks for sharing !
Beeindruckend gut! Kann man nicht anders sagen. 😊
Vielen Dank für die Blumen :)
I wish I could swap my life with his.
