  • What's up everyone? This week I decided to talk about my lesser known closed circuit rebreather, the poseidon se7en. For some dives a backmount ccr makes more sense than a sidemount rebreather. That's why I decided to convert a poseidon se7en to mCCR. I already owned the unit and I have TONS of rebreather parts for it. It just made sense to me and it was a pretty easy way to build a cheap mCCR. Thanks for keeping the Dive Vibe alive and enjoy the video. Remember! If you vibe, subscribe.

Living in Washington state. Attended a rebreather tryout with megs and revos. I asked about Poseidon, They acted like i asked about a voodoo spell. Didn’t realize Washington had rebreather bullies. Too bad they haven’t seen yours. Best looking seven I have ever seen 👍🏼

Glad you are getting a 3D printer. Enjoy it. The sky is the limit. I’m an instructor here in Oregon/ tech diver and I have made so many things for diving and for the Oregon institute of marine biology, 3D printing is a lot of fun.

Awesome video, started on a Poseidon and still got one but moved to the sidewinder. I have thought about this as well as removes the main issues with the unit.

lol, same! Yeah I actually really enjoy diving the unit this way, but the sidewinder just dives so nice in most circumstances. Once I had the idea though, I had to build it. What can I say, I'm a big ol' nerd.

Darn Zach, I wish that I would have seen this video before I went out and bought the new E-module + and three SSO2 O2 sensors. Lol 😆

what size scuba tank do you use on a rebreather? can you use nitrox?

The most common cylinder size is either Aluminum 19 or Steel 23. Usually there would be 2 on a closed circuit rebreather, one filled with oxygen and the other with diluent (this gas varies depending on the planned depth, it can be air or mixed gas like trimix). It blends the gasses as you dive, so it is very much like nitrox, only WAY more efficient. It (well technically I'm controlling it) changes the fraction of oxygen in the mixture depending on the depth so you end up with the ideal partial pressure of oxygen for that depth. This drastically increases no deco limits and shortens deco. Great question. Thanks Duane!
