Hmm... has anybody else noticed that Zach and his wife are never in the same shot? Coincidence?... 🙃🤣
Loool my studio isnt big enough!
Listen, mate, if you’re staring down a debt bigger than your surface interval, it’s time to weaponise that misery. Start a series called ‘Diving on a Budget: How to Afford the Ocean When You’re Drowning in Debt’. Film yourself patching wetsuits with duct tape and breathing through a garden hose you’ve ‘borrowed’ from the neighbour. Viewers love nothing more than watching someone slowly unravel, especially when it’s in high-definition underwater shots with inspirational music overlaid. Think those crazy Russians diving in Chernobyl, but with less radiation and more existential dread. If the debt’s pulling you down faster than a failed weight check and you're crying into your mask so much you have to clear it every 5 seconds, it’s time to get creative. Start pimping yourself out as a luxury “human BCD” for rich tourists - strap them on, smile for the GoPro, and call it ‘The Full-Service Dive Experience.’ Failing that, go full “lost treasure hunter” and start selling ‘limited-edition artefacts’ you’ve definitely not just pulled out of a local pond. Before you know it, you’ll be debt-free and debating whether your dignity was ever worth the price of a decent dive computer.
Great scuba gift ideas! This Dive Daddy wants the scooter! Love it!

I was curious, since you did a video on the fathom Gemini a while back, did you get to check one out at DEMA? Just curious, as I just finished MOD 2 on mine. I think it would be cool if someone made a video comparing and contrasting them yet I havent met anyone who has dove both, personally I’ve only dove the Gemini. Or next time you’re around Houston you can check mine out.
I'll be back in Houston in January, lets make that happen! Right before DEMA I was at protec in Tulum assisting with a sidewinder course. There was a gentleman there with a gemini and he let me check it out on the bench, it's pretty cool. I still think the market has room for both units.
@@DiveVibe Nice, we definitely should. The guy who first told me about your Chanel, Carl G may be a good dude to join us. Before getting a rebreather I had planned to go with protec for cave training, but got busy with the rebreather, teaching open water courses and DMing on the fling so cave training fell by the wayside. My original open water instructor hit me up last week when I was in Bonaire for CCR MOD 2, to go with protec in April when he goes there, so looks like I may finally make it to Tulum for cave training.
@JAB24100 Shoot me an email and we'll setup a trip to the blue lagoon or something! divevibemedia@gmail.com
I'm not seeing the difference on the bayonet connectors for the loop hoses. I dive a KISS Orca Spirit LTE (2023 or late 2022 build) and mine have the same click feedback with a quarter turn between lock/unlock positions. My buddy has a fresh 2024 build with the same connectors.
The click is significantly more pronounced. You have to push the ring towards the tower and twist to get it to release. Not knocking the old ones, they just never felt secure enough to me. On my student's units i've seen varying levels of secure-ness. Some of them work pretty good, some of them seem like they barely "engage". These new ones are AWESOME.
@@DiveVibe I think it's a tolerance consistency thing with Mike's shop. Mine requires a bit of force pushing in to get it to disengage. My dive buddy's unit (2024) is nearly impossible to connect the scrubbers to the counterlungs without rolling an o-ring because the tolerance on his unit is so tight on that connection. Mine has 0 issue in comparison (even when it was new). Anyways, I'll get to see the SW2 once our shop's instructors get them in.
It is an improved Winder, I don't really see the hype. Most of the improvements are fixes that should've been done over a decade ago.
Do you dive a sidewinder?
@@DiveVibe No, because I felt that these improvements should've been standard.
@Teampegleg which unit are you running?
Then it's good that they come standard now. Doesn't have to be groundbreaking, just realiable out of the box.
Zach, this is driving me crazy: What is the outro music track that you use in this video? I have tried multiple methods, and everything fails or points to "Fatal Error" by Jules Reves, but that is not correct. I must be really close, what is it? Related: Do you have a playlist for the other songs you use? Thanks!
Here ya go! m.soundcloud.com/user-808407889/beneath-the-skin?in=user-808407889/sets/cyberpunk-scores
Hi Zach, has the mounting method changed for the new canisters ?
Yes, a little bit. It has attachment points on the side for the bolt snaps. It has a cool system for diving it with a backmount single tank as well, very easy.
Bummer on the boxed milk sidewinder 2. I thought just from the brief photo it had a needle valve.
You can always use your own. I had one but got rid of it. If I want to go deeper than 90m I swap the spring for a stiffer one in the first stage and a tighter orifice. However, the sidewinder or the gemini wouldn't be my first choice for hypoxic trimix dives. Maybe if I was doing a really deep cave dive, but not in openwater unless I had to for some reason.
@ what would you use for a deeper dive?
@jacobkrause1913 A more traditional backmount unit. I'm between backmount units rn, but im looking at the xCCR. Also wouldn't mind a JJ or a revo.
@@DiveVibe not gonna lie. The Revo, having no head is a giant plus over the other units you listed. Along with the dual scrubber, totally independent electronics, and smaller form factor.
@jacobkrause1913 what do you dive?
Hi Zach, the reasons for the OPV and inflator on the military suits are: (a) When you work upright (as opposed to in trim) you lose gas all the time so either you keep opening/closing the OPV or you put it somewhere where you can leave it open and not think about it. Guess where that location is. (b) If you are diving a chest mount rebreather like many combatant divers will do, then the normal inflator position is underneath the unit and thus a pain to get to. So it's moved to an easy to reach and out of the way location.
Thanks Tobias!
Why is the new Apeks regulator weird? EVX 200 is the model name I think. I think it looks quite cool.
Lol i was just picking on aqualung/apeks.
awsome!
Thank you!

Make voice less annoying
Aww bro, im sure your voice is fine.
Also using the tribo per Divesoft recs... Do you also avoid silicone lube because the silicone flappers are sensitive to it (per mfgs)? Did I TL;DW that? Any concerns over ingesting the excess fluorogrease? (or liberal conspiracy?)
You know I just got back from Protec in mexico and those guys are all using silicone grease, so I may be switching. My wallet would certainly thank me. Every reg I've ever used has been lubricated with o2 safe lube so im not too worried about it, but I've also never heard ingestion brought up as a concern before. So I'll add it to my list of "research" rabbit holes to fall into at some point.
Cool to know that works. Apparently also fine for low pressure O2 fittings 🚬 Supposedly getting on a Shrimp BOV soon, probably similar, thanks for demonstrations Divesoft warns against silicone lubes claiming bad for flappers, but maybe also b/c the thin delicate silicone(?) o-rings in its barrels can't handle it either
I just wanna be able to grab some Lobsters at night for a few hours 🤷🏽♂️
how much does he charge to carry my tanks lol i like that idea
What are the advantages/disadvantages of purchasing through a dealer like yourself versus directly from Divextras on the website?

Once again you nailed it. Thanks for recommending this product
👍😎🇵🇭🤿! I don’t personally own a DPV but if in the future I will definitely look into this purchase!
I believe I've seen those DiveVibe support studies, I think they present a solid argument and dataset for the 15% increase...people also say that having orange gear adds an addition 21%, and that seems to be accurate according to my own in-depth analysis.
Can you see the laser in a silt out or less intense siltout if you lost your buddy?

Forwarding this to my dive buddy who uses a blacktip Do you have a video of the 5 minute install? That would be cool to watch.
I'm sure one of my buddies will get one soon, I'll film the install and post it on patreon. I'll tag you.
@@DiveVibe if you do. I think WE ALL NEED it to be done in your signature dark moody pallet
Great video, love the content you continue to put out! My shop has several blacktips with the T handles and absolutely love them. Been looking for rebreather loop covers and was wondering where you got yours from? Thanks
Hi Justin! Mine are from Tough Loops. You can get them from toughloops@gmail.com DLuxe Dive Gear also makes a really nice set of loop covers.
This is the handle that the BT should've come with from the factory. And don't give me the "cost" argument as the BT handle was designed for the BT it isn't an existing part from another scooter. And the retail cost of a BT handle which has all the economics of scale is $55. While Yann's handle is $143 shipped with no economics of scale. But then again they should've also designed a better sealing for the BT...
Thanks Zach, this handle is what I was wishing for in my deepest dreams.
Ordered mine yesterday, excited to switch out the handle, I think it will make switching the light from hand to hand much easier. Now I just need a dial for speed knob and on off trigger. So far the scooter is fantastic, looking forward to putting it through the paces!

13:48 I got the SeaDog stainless adjustable wrench you suggested in a different short video. Better than the al adjustable wrench you have in this video. The SeaDog adjustable travels with a double ender clipped off stowed in my lower drysuit pocket now. "Sea Dog Stainless Steel Adjustable Wrench and Bottle Opener" Thanks for the tip! Cheers, #SeattleRingHunter
12:33 lets get honest the Dive Rite XT1/XT4 regs are spot on for price, made in the US, cold water performance even for ice diving and Dive Rite will sell anyone spare parts kits. Hell of a lot more than we can say for failing Apex these days where spare parts are not readily available as they once were. If you have the skill set you can preform your own maintenance on Dive Rite regs. Just need to offer that as a quality option. Cheers, #SeattleRingHunter
Crap review…thanks for wasting my time
I like my 3 liter pony and mounted to my tank. Dependable 'buddy' for open water diving to 30+ meters. Got to train with it, but instantly ends most open circuit emergencies
