I hope your views went up a bit. I posted your video in a chicken owner's group on Facebook. Everyone was asking about my egg washer. So I posted your link. Thanks for the video. It's been a great help to me.
Good video. If you use detergents, be sure they are food safe. There are some out there. We had a commercial chicken layer farm. The shells are porous. We were told to put mineral oil on the eggs to reduce dehydration. We had a container that a 30 egg flat fit and had a sponge that would also fit the pan. We put mineral oil in the pan, soaked mineral oil with the sponge and put it on the top of the eggs. It would run down the sides of the eggs.
This is awesome! Thanks so much! I think I can minimize all that and maybe use an aquarium pump in the kitchen sink and do 2 baskets at a time. Oh, the possibilities! I will put this together and see what happens.
I tried out an air bed pump in the kitchen sink...a garden hose fits right into it (way less fittings), quieter, plenty of air. It is a great ideal because it is easy to improve and build on. Was an aquarium pump enough?
@@sanddpotts unfortunately, even with 2 aquarium pumps, it wasn't quite enough. However, it was still quicker and easier to do itnin the sink than a 5 gallon bucket. So I will have to find a bigger pump and give it a go again. Thanks.
Thanks pal! We will make one too. Wonder about if you had different angles on those drilled holes to have more angles of attack on those streams?? Thanks!
Hey tactical homesteader I made this washer and it works great im catching a lot of grief for submerging eggs are you still doing this have you had any issues? Can you shed some light on this topic
Your timing couldn't be better. Right now I'm spending about 5-10 mins. a day washing eggs. I will gladly trade an hour a week for a ten minute wash. I sell duck eggs which can get pretty grimy. Thanks, (yet again), my friend.
+Henry Schwarie oh no its not. Ducks lay eggs anywhere. Chickens are clean. Picture you grandma's house compared to a week long frat party with lots of mud wrestling.
My neighbors chickens are as dirty as a cesspool. They crap in their nests! My ducks on the other hand lay cleaner eggs and they darn sure don't crap in their nests!
i have a piece of 3/4 copper about 18ft long, you reckon I put a cap on it and drill a 1/8in hole every inch or so on the coil thatd work if I stick an airline on the other end?
Glad you're building it. I'm going to try to do a fall update soon. I've had a lot of focus this year on firearms training and building up my instructor certifications, so I haven't had much time to make videos.
Your parts list is missing the 3-way corner piece... Just sat down to put it all together and realized that. Guess I should have put all together at the store to make sure I had everything. I’m looking forward to not hand washing eggs anymore! Where did you get your basket? I’m finding them to be about $20 each.
Why do you choose to wash your eggs? Do you have to follow a law or something to sell them? I just produce enough for friends and family so I never have to remove the protective coating by washing them until just before I use them.
+afandi mohamad I just have a basic Kobalt air compressor - I think it's rated for 165 PSI. I don't know what the PSI is on the output when I use it. The regulator knob on my compressor is very good to fine-tune the pressure and I just turn it up to what I feel is an appropriate amount of disturbance in the water without being too rough with the eggs.
+Manuel I really can't say. The tank pressure gauge goes to the max (mine is 150 psi), but the tool pressure gauge doesn't register since the air is escaping from the line. I just turn the regulator slowly until it bubbles at a satisfactory amount.
Why wash them?? I mean obviously if you have a few that are covered in poop, but other than that why?? I would think that stirring manure up in water so that it touches all the eggs would be worse. I have traveled all over the globe and I can tell you that in most countries eggs in the grocery stores are not washed. I sell about 50 doz a month and I do not wash. I will admit that 99% of the eggs are clean. I do wash the very few that are manure covered.
+Christopher McClung In Arkansas, they must be washed and refrigerated for sale to the public. We do not wash the ones we eat until right before we use them.
+The Tactical Homesteader Same thing down here in Costa Rica. I agree with you about getting them washed before selling them. Thats just the way customer wants them. Im triyng to help my wife's father in getting this cleaning process more simple and this idea is definitely worth trying. He sells around 3500 eggs per week so this could defenitely help saving some time
If you are justifying that egg washing, than try to sell it to FDa approved food chain, absolutely you will not, as it is primary requirement to fullfil hygienic requirement before selling, purchasing or consuming any food material.
Nice job. Going to make one of these for myself. We process 8 dozen a day and, like you, washing by hand is getting to be a pain.

Looks perfect! I do warm water with literally a small drop of dish soap for antibacterial boost, but very mild. Thank you for sharing😉

Did you figure out the sweet spot on the pressure? Did you have to eventually glue it?
Just made this. Works great!

In Wisconsin, if you have an egg processing license it is not approved to submerge your eggs in water. Spaying and brushing is OK, but not submerging.
why?
I like the idea. I’m wondering if this will work for duck eggs as well.
Yes. You can probably give it even more air because the shells are a bit harder.
Gonna make this today, Ill let you know how its goes for me. Thanks so much for the video!
How was it?
Thanks for taking the time to make this video it was very helpful
You're never supposed to soak eggs. Especially in water that is colder/warmer than 42 degrees.
Your timing couldn't be better. Right now I'm spending about 5-10 mins. a day washing eggs. I will gladly trade an hour a week for a ten minute wash. I sell duck eggs which can get pretty grimy. Thanks, (yet again), my friend.
+buffalopatriot Did you ever end up trying this with duck eggs?
+Dowie Farm - Not yet, but I'm a lot faster at washing and stacking eggs.
Dude, an egg is an egg.
+Henry Schwarie oh no its not. Ducks lay eggs anywhere. Chickens are clean. Picture you grandma's house compared to a week long frat party with lots of mud wrestling.

Best thing to add would be a small spoon of raw sea salt or baking Soda. It works wonder on my fruits and vegetables.
Great information! Do you pasteurize your eggs & have you considered increasing the water temp as you clean to combine the process?
What a great little setup
Great but if water washing eggs will spilled? Any chemicals using for this purpose?
So the manure and bacteria get mixed in the water and spread onto all the eggs.
Not a sound idea without a disinfectant rinse.
Oh, I just got to the part where you showed dirty eggs....I just don't seem to have that problem.
Good job done I also like the no soap idea
Sir where have you been? been waiting on your next vid. I am building this egg washer this week.
thanks
Glad you're building it. I'm going to try to do a fall update soon. I've had a lot of focus this year on firearms training and building up my instructor certifications, so I haven't had much time to make videos.
Sweet. I just recently got my NRA first steps. Hot to work my way up
Vinegar is a good natral cleaner, just as a rince not a soke.
The water need to be warm?
Awesome video, thanks for sharing.
After washing off the bloom do you treat the eggs with anything?
Cold temperatures.
Your parts list is missing the 3-way corner piece... Just sat down to put it all together and realized that. Guess I should have put all together at the store to make sure I had everything. I’m looking forward to not hand washing eggs anymore!
Where did you get your basket? I’m finding them to be about $20 each.
tractor supply. less than $10.
I'm guessing you arent saleing commercial? Or maybe your laws are different where you're at.
Nice. I couldn't tell by your air compressor sound but I'd suggest an airless type compressor.
That will be on my list

In Arkansas, they must be washed and refrigerated for sale to the public. We do not wash the ones we eat until right before we use them.
We raise and sell eggs. In Maryland, state law requires them to be washed.
Wow thank you for sharing sir am definitely built one
Great video thank you
Simple but Awesome... Good Job... Thank you
what is the air from
what are the source for the air to make the water "pop" and the amount of pressure needed?

Whats the Pressure coming form the Air compressor.
+Manuel I really can't say. The tank pressure gauge goes to the max (mine is 150 psi), but the tool pressure gauge doesn't register since the air is escaping from the line. I just turn the regulator slowly until it bubbles at a satisfactory amount.
Good stuff. thanks
Thx sir for giving me idea
You may need to Deworm your chickens. Possibly the chickens with the dirty eggs may have them
Lol.... That's hysterical.
wrapped the teflon tape in the WRONG direction
i was liking this guys style,..... until he used tape wrong, man that pisses me off to see anyone do that! lol
Hold it in left hand wrap with your right.
ha ha i saw that too!
yep, icaught that too.
please build us one I will pay you.
He is selling unborn... 😆
does this work on muddy duck eggs?
Missy Rabbit I’m curious about that too
Best way to cut pvc pipe?
Pipe cutter, believe it or not!
You'll never look back.
will you build us one we will pay you and pay for shipping let me know

the time it took you 5 minutes at minimum, i couldve done 5 times as much minimum
You're not supposed to submerge your eggs. That can make you sick.
