    Great Video, I've been shooting for 47 years, starting with 16mm, then S16mm and finally 35mm. When Red came out I wanted one but the wife said not yet. I picked up a great Red One MX package in 2018 for $1500. Love the camera. I also have the beast, a Sony f35 which I also love. The nice thing about the red is the Nikon mount. I own about 40 Nikkors mostly primes and all manual. The best thing about the Nikkors is the color results of the lens. If you buy them make sure they are pre-1986 build, why? because the glass has lead in them and you can't beat the look, looks like a $20K lens. Keep shooting!

      Very interesting ! i bought a Red ONe MX a few weeks ago and i have a nikon mount too. I bought 2 Tokina to do a first step with this camera. I woulf like to buy Red lense but i think the 2nd step will be to buy 3 or 4 Nikkor lenses

      Does red one mx have any focus pulling tools? Like some kind if red markings on tje monitor?

    RED one mx, fav image of any Red ever built. I just love the organic image, on par with the Sony f35 which was about a quarter-million dollars.
    We always kept a large cooler with cooling packs to keep it cool in hot climates. It worked decent.

    Mine only had 62 hours on it, which was used to shoot Pirates of the caribbean : on stranger tides. But has never let me down since. But yeah the wight is insane. BTW you didn't mention you can get EF mounts for this camera, they are hard to come by but you can, I use one and it works great. Also I don't use the red drives, I have them but don't bother with them, I use red mag SSD's, much easier and more reliable to shoot with, but make sure your camera comes with the redmag bay, alternatively you can buy one and install it (again very hard to get).

    Hi, this camera, I really like the image quality of the Red one mx. I am looking for a film camera, for short films, to record things. The only one that convinced me was the Red Komodo but it is expensive and because of the economy, the red one is lower in price and you would recommend this camera since it is used in many productions, the hobbit, district 9, your video has motivated me to buy this camera and the quality of this camera shows beautiful images.

    Big fan of Ravelli tripod too. I must say that mine lost rubber feet pretty easily, mostly shooting on the grass. But Ravelli has the spare part or it's easy to find something that would work. Great vid, by the way

    I agree about the organic image. The footage has a unique brand of lo-fi softness to it that just looks "right" to my eye, which is why the R1's weight, startup times, and ergonomic challenges are worth putting up with in 2020. At least for me. I've been piecing my own kit together, trying to have it shoot-ready by the time this pandemic is over (which could be a while). Are you a member of the Red One group on FB?

    I love my Red One MX. My Sony a7sII will overheat and shut down (shooting 4K) during Texas summers but the Red keeps going... I shot maybe one project with the Sony last year and everything else with the Red One MX. Also, upgrade to the SSD module... and I use a Bogen 504HD head without issue.

    That tripod was the first video tripod I purchased a few years ago. Unfortunately it didn't last long as the metal used for the head seemed to have a lot of defects. Ultimately the plate mount cracked in several places. Not sure if it was a knockoff, or just poor QC.

    Hi Aaron, I bought mine 5 years ago and since then prices are quite similar for used R1MX and components...great camera indeed. I would like to know any advice or tips in how hard was to open the Red to replace the fan, I'm planing to open mine to dust it off. I love my camera, it does has magic. By the way, I have managed to fly it using a smooth shooter and a CameTV gimbal...tricky but with practice you can get great organic shots.

I would really appreciate the help!

      @AaronandKat  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks!! Yep I’ll add a link for the arm to the video description and let you know when I do. As far as the V-Mount cradles for the R1, can be really really hard to find. Just subscribe to a Ebay search and you’ll be notified when one is up. I see them from time to time.

      Hey there! That’s actually a good point, they do in fact have the same sensor but the image looks completely different out of the scarlet. We used to own one. Something about the original R1 that has something special. Wish it didn’t because it weighs too much!

      You need a mini-usb to usb cable and a power cable. You can probably find the one you need at your local thrift shop. Just make sure the output is within the Red Drive specs.
