Hey. Just commenting to let you know that I passed CAE. My score is 201 meaning I passed at grade A and got C2 English level. I just wanted to tell you that you videos helped me a lot preparing for the exam. The part of the exam I was the most scared of was writing, your videos helped me be less scared. While writing ended up being my lowest score in the exam I still managed to get 193 points which is far better than what I expected. And I am sure you played a part in that. So thank you so much for these videos they helped me a lot. Keep up your great work!
I have a question. Are proposal, report, rewiew and letter/email the only kind of non-mandatory texts? Because i read somewhere online that there's also the article
Hi Phill, i took the exam yesterday and i think i forgot to include the ending formula but i still wrote an ending paragraph. I just wanted to know how heavily this is going to affect my score according to you. Thank for all the tips!
Hi Luigi, it's difficult to say how much this will affect your result as there are a lot of other things that the examiner takes into account when marking your texts. If you are happy with the rest of your email or letter, don't worry about it.
Hi Phill, how are you doing? I'm taking the C1 exam in two weeks, and I've got a question: I know that when the listening part is finished, we are given 5 minutes more to complete the answer separate sheet. Is the same applied to the Reading and Use of English part, will I have then another extra 5 minutes left once the one hour and a half of the exam is up? Thanks in advance! Miguel :)
Hi, I have some questions. Should I sign off using my name when writing formal letter? Also, if there's a hypothetical company I'm writing about (for example I'm writing to my co-workers and I want to use company's name at one point) should I come up with a name or simply write "company X"?
Of course, you can use your own name. After all, you are the one writing the letter. Just be careful that you check in the task who you are writing to and use that name for the recipient of your letter.
Sorry if this is a rather stupid question but I encountered an exercise ( CAE letter ) where they say “You do not need to include addresses”. Does this mean I’m not allowed to use “Dear…”and the closing formula or what do I need to do?
If the task doesn't mention the name of the person I'm writing to, in this case, a friend, could I hypothetically write: Hi, friend! in the greeting. Or should I make up a name to adress?
@teacherphill Have to wait almost 2 weeks for the results, but... I think I did alright! Definitely would've gone better had I started preparing sooner than I did though 😅

Hi Miguel, in R&UoE, you don't get any extra time. Transferring your answers to the answer sheet is included in the time limit.
Thank you for the info!
Thx à lot that rly helps! Keep going 😁
Thanks, will do!
me encanta el principio😃

Yes, sign off with your name just as you would in a real letter and as for the name of the company, you can choose whatever name you like. 👍
Thank you!
Thank you so much
No problem, Sam. It's my pleasure to help. :)
Hi Phill, just a question- Shouldn't hustle and bustle be spelt this way instead of hussle and bussle?
I guess you got me there. :)
hey! I just wanted to ask, is it ok if I use my own name to sign the letter, or do I have to use a fictional one?

It means that you don't have to invent a street address, but you can simply start with Dear ___, ...
@@teacherphill thanks!

If it is a friend, the task will always mention their name.

All the best and tell me how it went. :)
The exam starts in 20 minutes. Wish me luck ;;
