Redshift. My dude. Did you make a deal with a Daedric Prince to know all this incredibly useful information? You keep knocking these videos out of the park. And my mod list grows after every one of your videos.

I feel like I know a lot about the modding scene... but I did not know of SR Exterior Cities. I'm so happy someone is doing this with the mentality and open-mindedness they have. Thanks for another great video. Genuinely the best source for quality information.
Funny how Skyrim consumes your life. In the early days, I used to play it a lot. When I got older and was able to afford a beefy ass rig, I mostly modded, played a little. Nowadays, my Skyrim experience is just watching these amazing modding videos.
Hey Redshift. Watching your videos has inspired me to make a new modlist that I just got done with after a week of scouring every video you uploaded this year plus Nexusmods for about a week straight. Excited to finally play today and you drop this video, from which I've grabbed a handful of different linked mods to top everything off. Excited to jump back into the world of Skyrim with this perfect, super immersive vanilla+ setup I've made thanks to you and waste atleast another three hundred hours. :D
This is great! By now there are lots of videos about graphics, landscapes, armor, improved quests, but videos of this type are not that common. But in some ways, mods like these are far more important. After all, what good is the best looking game if if continually lags or crashes? Quite a few of these mods are unknown to me, but after hearing the description of what each one does, I would consider them essential additions to my modlist in the future. Thank you!
Thanks! I have most of these, but I was missing a couple. Namely Lightened Skyrim and a couple of the script enhancers. I have a very heavy modlist (1,360) so every little bit helps.
Thank you for the avoid part, I had known about city and population overhaul and just recently realized wet & cold was the a reason of my destability; but simply knok & Blood Enhancements were looking to simple to even imagine they have such heavy impact ❤
Absolutely fantastic video!!! Omg I’m getting ready to get back to SR. I’m watching all the new modding videos and learning as much as possible. Thank you so much for this video!! 👍🏾
First thing to make sure you have a good base for modding is to make sure you don't install SSE to program files, or program files(x86). Second, get SKSE. Third, get Loot. Fourth, get SSEedit. Fifth, a good mod manager, either Vortex or Mod Organizer 2. Install Loot where ever you want to, it makes little difference. Your mod manager can be installed else where. Personally, I use Mod Organizer 2, so I have it inside my SSE install directory. I use the zip file one, rather than the .exe one. After that, unzip SSEedit to your Skyrim directory. This way, you keep everything nice and clean. Your mod manager should be able to detect both Loot and xEdit. I say xEdit because I would rather type that than SSEedit. Easier to do. Anyway, clean your files that Loot tells you to clean. Then start with USSEP, first. That mod is everything else that you install. That should be your first mod, aside from SKSE you install. SKSE should be installed to Skyrim directory, before you install your mod manager. And should also be detected by your mod manager. If xEdit, Loot, or SKSE is not in your executables for your mod manager, you can manually add them. Once you have these mods installed, check them to be sorted, and cleaning. Once done, you can continue modding. You can, with some more advanced techniques, convert some mods to .esl to save on amount of mods you have.
Thanks for doing this! Your concise explanations really relieve a lot of the stress that comes from considering... even more mods lol. I've been holding off on watching your vids until I finished more of my new modlist (been a couple years) as I didn't want to overwhelm myself. But I'm nearing the start of my new pt and man your videos are top quality! Right up there with MXR, Heavy Burns, you name it. Keep it up!
I was having a lot of problems after the AE drop. The NPC's would not start a new quest or continue a quest without without having to shut my game down and booting the game back up. My sell screen and load screens got slower and slower as I progressed through the game. I installed all of your bug fixes, created a new game and all of my bugs were corrected Thank you so very much for posting this video. Skyrim is now a delight to pkay again.
What’s odd is I’ve always ended up with serious bugs after using Bethini that ruined the game. When I don’t use it, Skyrim is bug riddled but I don’t have the ctd I would get with Bethini. The rest I use though. I know I’m not the only one that’s had that issue. Same thing with Wrye bash. I’ve always used it with every mod list I’ve made except this time and this list seems far more stable without it. One mod I’d add I didn’t see on your list is Recursion Monitor. It’s fantastic too.
Wow thank you for your list really, simple explanations, links and showcase how it work. Even recommending better version of the famous mods that causing crazy script lags and more optimized/updated. I hoped seeing more videos like this so people know what mods that does better but underrated/unknown than most famous mods in nexus nowadays. I just discover SR Exterior and yes it worked better than open cities (any arthmoor mods really) the only mods i have from him is USSEP and actively avoiding many mods that dependent on his mods. I just hope in the futer mods is truly easy to patch and mod owner isnt restrict development and improvement of the mods. And ofc abandoned mods in nexus that really abandoned (author truly gone/out of sight/care about the mods anymore) can be hidden according to your skyrim/FO. Any game version you have to easily finding mods that compatible/have chance to compatible with your games.
It's also worth noting that having too many BOS based mods will mean you have to manually keep track of what BOS mods are changing what in runtime, since there's currently no way to track conflicts in realtime during gameplay. But just having a couple is usually fine.
First up, this was a really great Video and you explained everything very well and understandable! Could you make a video or something with the mods you use? From the patch notes for the minus 3 day patch of Starfield, it looks like creation engine still has save, reload, and suspend issue. Always exit the game completely and start the game fresh whenever you are loading. Skyrim does not correctly garbage collect the old game when loading from save. Also do not use quick saves as they can break scripts, Autosaves are also buggy, so turn off all autosave options (some quest saves can't be turned off).
USSEP is not just bug fixes. It is whatever arthmoor thinks should be changes in the game. USSEP can be completely replaced with other bug fixer mods while leaving out arthmoors ego based "well I think it should be this way" changes.

I would recommend survival improved if anyone is experiencing the game freezing in the overworld this fixes survival for me by moving it into c++ instead of papyrus because survival runs scripts even if your not even using it in the background! Very annoying to crash every 40 mins. If you do use this mod please read the description it’s important.
Honestly, you should just avoid and remove the CC Survival addon, it's just monotonous crap anyway. Try Sunhelm or some other survival mods, which have more features and make more realistic sense!
lol man- never realized Enhanced Blood Textures came with more than the name suggested :P appreciate the link to LITE variant! will compare, see how they affect frametimes + stability
I would argue against using USSEP, it may fix bugs but it goes far beyond that into unnecessary balance, map and other changes. The author of that mod makes these changes simply because he thinks that's how it should be regardless of ingame lore. For example he changes a mine that has Ebony ore into Iron ore for no reason other than "because" To say nothing of the "DHOVAKINE?! NOOOOO!" voice file added to the first dragon fight, removing the restoration loop and others. There's a whole other mod on Nexus for the sole purpose of negating many of these changes. I do appreciate your other recommendations. I've been considering getting back into Skyrim and working out a new mod setup and this info is genuinely helpful.
You know what I feel like that enchantment speechcraft is very debatable. Like a magic sword is obviously high priced and not need to be argued or persuaded..... Hm or something. Depends on the price you're selling it for. Unless it's worth like 50g and you sell it for 100g approx and go "This is super rare" (but eloquently.)
hi mister can you make a video on how to choose your size texture? do you do it via bethini? I hope you'll make a short tutorial for it, really helps your game performance if you set all the other stuff into 512 texture
Use the SPID version, the full version used to introduce a bit of script lag, but with the release of the SPID version it pretty much eliminated all of it. The lite version is just terrible lol
Someone on Reddit contested Simpler Knock being less script heavy than Simple Knock. Maybe Simplest Knock? Doesn't really work on my load order but might for someone. Anyways, great recommendations overall!
Hey, nice video! Although I have most of the mods listed here, thanks for a few suggestions to add for my game. I would like to ask something: what's the mod that makes the icons on the inventory animated like in your previous videos? I really like it a lot, and I would like to add it to my modlist.
Thank you! Added it right now and it looks amazing. Also, thanks for all of your videos, they just inspired me to go for a 800 mods modlist right now (most being a lot of bug fixes and many stuff). @@redshift1
No scrambled bugs? That one fixed things like making powerful fiery soul trap and chaos enchantments or making mage robes when significant magicka reg. It also allows you to fix the follower and summon bug that makes them low damage dealing tanks at high difficulty and glass cannons at low difficulty. It makes them high damage tanks at low difficulty and low damage glass at high difficulty, just like the player.
i've been using Wet & Cold and Footprints for years without issue, even in massive load orders. i prefer W&C over other mods because it adds in hoods, cloaks, facemasks and others to NPCs during various weathers. as for Enhanced Blood, i've been using that for years as well, and never had an issue with it. load order is key to a stable mod list, and i have found LOOT does more harm than good. it may be alright for beginners with small load orders, but i prefer to manually sort my plugins. other than that, all of the performance and bug fixing mods you mentioned here have had a permanent spot in my load order.
Some of the mods though have a stupid amount of requirements like Free FPS and you should not have to install all these. Thank goodness for MO2, I stopped using Vortex because of the insane mod cycles.
If you're able to load into the game, I would recommend loading a save with the script optimizers, release all your followers(if any), go into any small interior(breezehome in Whiterun for example), save your game in a new slot. After, open the console with ~, type TSCR, press enter, type PCB, press enter, type SetGS iHoursToRespawnCell 1, press enter, type SetGS iHoursToRespawnCellCleared 1, press enter, exit the console with the Escape key, wait 2 hours, save your game in a new slot, open the console with the ~ key, type player.kill, press enter, exit the console, let the game reload, open the console with ~, type PCB, press enter, type SetGS iHoursToRespawnCell 240, press enter, type SetGS iHoursToRespawnCellCleared 720, press enter, wait 2 hours, save your game in a new slot, exit the game, download resaver, run it, load your save, remove undefined references, save your game, launch Skyrim and voila, your save should work with the new script optimizers. It's tedious, but it will also work for adding and removing new mods or changing your mod order.
I dunno what I did lmao but since I installed Community Shaders and all of its addons somehow I gained fps I'm currently running the game at 55-60 whereas before installation I'm running the game at 40 average fps lol
Redshift I have tried my upmost best to make my npc's look similar to yours but they're nowhere close. I have High Poly Head, High Poly Vanilla Hair, Vanilla Hair Remake, Beards of Power Polymorph version and High Poly True to Vanilla NPC Overhaul with the backport patch to 1.5.97. I have the expressive facegen morph and expressive animations for male and female. I'm also using CBBE, tempered skins for female and sky sight skins for male. But my npc's look nowhere near as good as yours in the Transforming Skyrim's NPCs with Mods video. I'm also using quaint because I saw that you were using it. Gerdur for example looks not as good as, the eyes look similar but the hair and cheeks (as in more realistic not just smooth faced skin) are different. Also I'm not using any ENB's because I don't know how to. Any idea's of what I'm doing wrong? How would you set out the load order for those?
video: DONT install population mods me: so youre saying i should install population mods video: here, all these mods will improve your fps me: great, that will help whith the population mods
The issue is not so much about performance per se, the issue is about script queueing and event delaying as explained. Your game will still run smooth, but not everything that's supposed to happen, will happen.

Anything that adds npcs or poppulates Skyrim is a must no as all Bethesda games cannot handle extra npcs. Amazing video, I agree 100% with all of the voids to avoid. Wet and Cold isn't that heavy but the fact that it stopped getting updates makes me look for alternatives and Rass is a really good call.

i have a bug where my difficulty keeps resetting to novice nomadder how many times i restart game and tried loading to a save before i tried to change difficulty and still doesnt work
Looking at my game in task manager, a bunch of cores spike momentarily every 10 seconds. Is this normal skyrim behavior, or a bad script? This doesn't cause a studder every 10 seconds, but it has been a cause for concern.

If your npcs don't walk anymore and now just glide around. What could that be?
From this list, what would work with/help Nolvus? My pc is on the lower end and Nolvus runs at like 5 fps lol
Some of the mods though have a stupid amount of requirements like Free FPS and you should not have to install all these. Thank goodness for MO2, I stopped using Vortex because of the insane mod cycles.
Seems like Vanilla Script (micro)Optimisations might potentially have some issues on existing saves.
I really dislike USSEP. It fixes a lot, but it also makes heavy handed game changes that I do not want.
I dunno what I did lmao but since I installed Community Shaders and all of its addons somehow I gained fps I'm currently running the game at 55-60 whereas before installation I'm running the game at 40 average fps lol
Do you have a specific mod that is great for steam deck?
Super random question but did you mod a Traxxas Emaxx back in the day?
no there's another guy on the nexus called redshift though so it was probably him
@@redshift1 cool
video: DONT install population mods
me: so youre saying i should install population mods
video: here, all these mods will improve your fps
me: great, that will help whith the population mods
The issue is not so much about performance per se, the issue is about script queueing and event delaying as explained. Your game will still run smooth, but not everything that's supposed to happen, will happen.
@@PoootieIs that why if I go into console mode for 30 seconds a bunch of things will change when unpaused?
imagine if this was a Nexus Collection
helllo, do you know the crashes of "opening menu" ?? how do i fix these
I get some crush that freeze my computer idk why all screen blackout and i require to restart my pc this happened 3 time 2 out of it happened in fahlbtharz forge dwemer solstheim place!
No Papyrus Tweaks?
Anything that adds npcs or poppulates Skyrim is a must no as all Bethesda games cannot handle extra npcs. Amazing video, I agree 100% with all of the voids to avoid. Wet and Cold isn't that heavy but the fact that it stopped getting updates makes me look for alternatives and Rass is a really good call.
I'm old so I just discovered mods and I'm wondering if I should put all these mods in I'm using steam work shop and I was wondering how do you know how many mods you can put in thank you your help would be greatly appreciated
Which version of Skyrim do you play on? The 2011 release or the one released in 2016 (special edition and anniversary edition are the same)
How do you change the texture quality of objects like you show at the end? Idk how to get 512k objects vs 2k
Most authors host different options - if you want to create your own size you can use the Cathedral Assets Optimiser
i have a bug where my difficulty keeps resetting to novice nomadder how many times i restart game and tried loading to a save before i tried to change difficulty and still doesnt work
Have a mod in nexus
What mods are you using it looks like a 3D WoW
What lighting mod are you using for your fireballs to look like that?
Nat with rudy enb
How many of these are available on xbox? Currently I'm unable to check.
I dunno why but my comment was removed?
Anyway do you have a fix for flickering textures? The walls and windows are switching between textures.
Looking at my game in task manager, a bunch of cores spike momentarily every 10 seconds. Is this normal skyrim behavior, or a bad script? This doesn't cause a studder every 10 seconds, but it has been a cause for concern.
What is your modlist?
