- Repairing the cheapest stand-up paddle board on marketplace. This board had the tail run over by the previous owners SUV, as well as some other dings and dents. A good general overview of how to approach your own SUP repairs.
Welcome back Jake, another interesting video and a wood fired pizza to beat!
Thanks vanman!
Hell ya cooler build. Nice fix on the paddle board. We’ve been enduring those hi temps here in Tucson had to hit the trailhead at 4am this morning for a run. Glad to see you back.
Thanks James! You Arizona runners are a rare breed!
Great video, thanks 👍
Good work man! Couldnt tell anything had happened to it besides age!
Thanks Buzz!
Hey Jake, been watching your videos the past few days and just wanted to say a few things. Firstly, the reasoning for watching, is that i plan to build a foam and fiber removable setup like yours for a harbor freight trailer. I wasnt sure which foam to search for that would work with poly resin.
Secondly, love the content, the yota, the sleeper, and your 4 legged companion. Keep up the good work. Your channel should have so many more subscribers and i wish you nothing but success. I will certainly subscribe. Thanks.
Thanks for the kind words, and for watching!
Epoxy is very foam safe, traditional polyester resins will melt and deform it. I would encourage you to do a small sample with your planned materials before diving into a large part/project.
@@ThatJakeWorldWide The foam board you are using, what is it actually called? I always run into similar dimensions, but they always seem to be foiled. Also, the white puddy compound you use to seal cracks and imperfections. What is the white compound?
@@bigdaddydoitall I'm using Owens Corning Foamular 150. Its available through Home Depot if you have one close by. It may not be a stocked item at your store, but they are generally helpful about ordering product. It also comes in a more dense Foamular 250 which id love to get my hands on.
The white filler is glass micro balloons mixed with epoxy to the desired consistency. All my epoxy and fillers come from US composites.
@@ThatJakeWorldWide much appreciated
How many gallons of epoxy did you use to cover the outside of your camper?
Welcome back Jake!
Thanks! Lots of cool stuff coming soon!
I just watched your camper build video. 😊
Jake it's good to see you're back I thought something it happened to you
Alive and well, thanks!
Dale is fearless.
99% he gets scared of trivial stuff from time to time.
@@ThatJakeWorldWide Hate to say, I probably wouldn't have continued to watch if it weren't for him. You got a pretty chill life. I am somewhat envious. I call him "Dale the Wonder Dog".
Last weekend I binged all of your camper vids - so I need to get my life back - therefore I can't say I missed you - LOL! Still it's good to see you're back. BTW, I was totally blown away to see the paddle board uses an expanded bead Styrofoam (beer cooler) core. I wouldn't have thought it was tough enough. Could you tell what the outer layers are?
LOL, that must mean Im doing something right!
I too was shocked by the EPS core. This wasn't a high end board new, but I think it sold at around $1200. I would expect higher quality materials at that price point.
I estimate it has 8oz of fiberglass covering the EPS core, and its not the greatest quality layup. Lots of edges/seams/lumps and bumps. The topside of the board is covered in EVA foam, and the bottom has a 1-2mm layer of the same foam followed by what im guessing is HDPE plastic that's gone extremely brittle. An interesting construction for sure.
Id like to scratch build one at some point, maybe a winter/next season project.
Hey Jake are you still alive when are you going to put out some more videos haven't got to see much of you miss U and Dale also want to see the new truck
Hey Joseph, we're not dead yet! I do have a video coming out soon, and expect to be much more active on YT in the coming year.
Deals make my wheels go round.
How's the camper? Where ya been?!
I just 99% finished the exterior of a camper top build on my Chevy Avalanche. Was wishing I could've done epoxy and FG, but weather and funds were not permitting, so I ended up doing PMF.
We're all good here! busy with work and should have some more TH-cam time in the spring. Glad your getting out there and making stuff, that's what its all about!
Oh yeah I forgot to say let's see some more stuff about you camping with your sidekick
Soon!
Great repair - I am thinking you being a foam and fiberglassing God you could have made a better one from scratch😁
Stairs look amazing. Maybe I will do metal stairs for my deck expansion.🤔
Cheers
Thanks Patrick! I'll build a Paddle board from scratch someday. Steel is real!
