  • Dickey Betts (Richard Betts), legendary guitarist, singer and songwriter of the Allman Brothers Band died today at the age of 80. He also had a distinguished solo career. I pay tribute to his wonderful career and legacy, especially as the co-founding member of the greatest southern rock band ever.

      Good choice, even though the band wasn't that fond of "ER". They tended to downplay the contributions of the late Toler Brothers during the 1978-82 period, even thought they kept the band cookin' and stopped them from becoming relics.

    I am a big Dickey Betts Guy. I have stolen more guitar licks from him than anyone. Yesterday I put on his first solo record "Highway Call" and shed a few tears. • @derhandtrommler
      @derhandtrommler 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, Duane was obsessed with Gregg being their singer and B-3 player. I read that they got Gregg back from L. A. and locked him in the kitchen of their house at the time with The B-3, a bottle of JD and a case of Marlboro's and told him not to come out until he could play it. He emerged, completely wasted, two days later and was the organist we now know.

      Gotta say I haven't heard Wipe The Windows in a long time. I definitely like it. It's good. Just so different. Obviously Dickie is a huge focus on the album, because he's the only guitar. It was a gutsy move at the time, as the interaction was now with Chuck Leavel and Gregg versus Duane (or another guitarist). Really changed their sound. Certainly worked on Brothers And Sisters (their biggest album ever). But when comparing to Fillmore or the later day live album releases (many that I showed), it doesn't compare. But still for another band, yea it's good. I way prefer the live Can't Lose What You Never Had over the Win Lose or Draw version.
