    Craig, please let your brother talk, he holds his own very well! Love this family dynamic thing. I wish I have my brother and father still around! Adam, you sold him a good car at a good price, he will be ok. I have gone out of my way to be the good guy after the sale and had the same results as Craig.     Years ago I'was actually on the other end of a car transaction with a used car dealer in my area! I bought a 8 year old at the time Z28 camaro from a driunk car dealer for alot less than he had advertised it for! Did all the paperwork and took the car home!! The next day the very hungover and not happy dealer wanted to buy the car back! I told him you signed the papers and sold the car to me!! He tried many more times to buy it back but i never sold it back to him !! It did need a little bit of work but i made out pretty good! The dealer stayed in business and i hope he sobered up!!

    Excellent video.
    I literally experienced something very similar just a few hours ago.
    I rent a vacation property. Jsn and Feb are usually very slow. I decided thus year to drop the prices significantly. I got a renter! I was pretty happy!
    She messaged me asking if she could arrive early. No problem.
    She calls me to complain about the sheet. I told her how to get a replacement sheet from my storage bin. Literally 2-3 seconds. She refused and wanted a full refund! Lol
    I was maf but i still asked what i could do to help the situation. They wanted a $30 refund. I agreed. Then she said she will also be complaining to VRBO to get a 1-day refund!
    I told her i was done and she can work with VRBO.
    Dealing with the public is not easy. You can go from an extreme high to an.extreme low very quickly!

    It sounds to me like this technician isnt too bright when he Snapped the key off in the door lock right off to bat and he wants you to fix it? Everyone knows when you put the key in and turn it and it does not want to turn you just force it until you Snap the key off why that's just common sense. It sounds like it was an impulsive buy on his part and now he's changed his mind.

    Back when I was very young I managed a very large auto repair center. I quickly learned that EVERY time I tried to save a customer money by doing them a favor that it bit me in my rear end. Like Craig,I mean EVERY time! Never EVER try to do a customer a favor by saving them money!😊

    I am also a car dealer I buy fix and sell cars. I know a lot about cars I grew up. My dad showed me how to do mechanics. I got really good at it and I would say he would have to figure it out. I’ll buy stuff all the time from auctions all over and have problems, I figure things out and make the best of the situation. I would not give the money back he has to grow up. His problem is not your problem.

    Man your brother is lucky. Ive come to realize that most successful people, can attribute much of their success to having a close personal mentor who sets them onto the path of success. I dont have such a mentor, and as great as videos are, videos only offer glimpses of advice. Helpful, but not nearly the same as actually having a wealthy mentor to personally teach you how to become rich like they did. Its nearly impossible to figure everything out without a mentor. Which is why 99% of people are paycheck to paycheck working class. Because they just. Dont. Know.
    Youre videos are greatly appreciated though because they are helpful, so thank you. Your brother is lucky to have you.

    Glad you both are good dealers. My son-in-law traded in a car at a small dealer here in Rochester. He got his new to him car home and a day later the dealer calls him back saying he needs more money that he found a problem with my son-in-law car. The dealer test drove his car, had his mechanic check it out and accepted it as a trade. He told my SIL that he still had the title and wouldn’t give it to him until he paid him more money. Needless to say it was cheaper to pay him than to spend the time in small claims court. Fortunately he is no longer in business.

    No matter the situation unless the customer has damaged the car or intentionally damaged the car to get out of it.
    Other than that I would always take the car back.

    Craig is the cynical guy, he's been at it a long time and because he's spent the time gaining wisdom, he can feel the hair on the back of his head talking. Adam is the nice guy 😎 has not been beat down by sales going sideways, maybe Adam's youthful enthusiasm will rub off on Craig and bring back a little more joy! Looks a little like Martin & Will in a Bad Boys movie. It's early in the company's life and can't take that kind of hit.

He is now a buyer and he should base is offer on the condition of the vehicle and what profit he wants to make based on purchase and time and costs involved getting resale ready. This is a brand new transaction he is no longer the seller in this new scenario he is now an interested buyer and he needs to treat it as such. Ignore all previous transactions etc, this is a dealer looking at a possible purchase of a vehicle. The current owner must realize this is the reality of the situation otherwise go sell it to another person who will do the same and look at the vehicle as a new possible purchase based on checking and driving and it's condition.

It’s really interesting how different countries have different rules or laws in South Africa consumers have a 14 day cooling period if they buy a car from a dealership but if it’s private it’s voetstoots (as is) Thanks again Adam and Craig awesome videos

    I think 🤔 it was handled the best way, he bought the car knowing that he could not return it so giving him the names of the ppl that wanted to see the car so he could sell it. Hands down best decision. It also was a life lesson for this young man bc the world 🌎 does not 🚫 revolve around any 1 person, we all run into problems and have to figure it out!

    It's your business, but the internet opinion of you is what allows it to grow. So keep the kids deposit or what is customary (what it costs for your time and expenses) in order to get the car checked out. Then take it back if no damage or repairs are needed.

    I agree. Your job it to buy at wholesale and sell at retail. You spend your time selling him the car you cannot get the time back. Time is money. You could have offered to buy it back for less, but not sure he would have done that.

    Bro, every time I “ help “ someone with their car, i end up with ten fake reviews on google when it’s over, bc I didn’t work fast enough, or this or that happened, when I was going out of my way to help them.

    When you buy a high priced collectors car, every idiot you know will laugh at you and say you overpaid and were Ript off. In the 80s I bought a wrecked 69 GT500 shelby for $4500, nice ones were selling for 8k, I got endless S___, for years, but later everyone said I got a great deal, unfortunately most young people get buyers remorse because of jealous friends, I prefer to sell to seasoned, older car guys, less drama.

    Carmax, and most franchise dealers that sell preowned cars, offer anything from 3 days to 30 days to return the vehicle for a full refund. I would never purchase a preowned car that didn’t offer some period of time to return it for a full refund.
    I’d also never buy a preowned car without getting a mechanic, of my choosing, to fully check the car out before the deal was finalized. That, IMO, is just common sense.
    These buy here pay here used car dealers obviously can’t afford a trial period to get the car checked out. Buying a car from such a dealer is a roll of the dice. Be aware, “As Is” means legally “As Is”. Buyer beware the dealer isn’t liable for any problems once the selling process is completed.
    I will also add that the general public doesn’t care about the negative issues and problems common in the used car business. They don’t feel sorry for you because they’ve had too many negative experiences in their car buying experiences. Car dealers are high on the list of most disliked business people in the country.
    I’m not sure why you made this video, but if you were looking for understanding or sympathy from the general public this video didn’t help your cause. I doubt many, if any, people care about a used car dealer losing money on a deal. In fact, it probably made a lot of viewers smile.

    I think you as a seller should always sell a car with two keys especially if the keys are not expensive. Still I think you did the right thing.

    I got burned buying a few cars. I never went back to the person/auction/dealer because I knew what I was getting into. Im 36 on my 15th vehicle and only financed 1... when they break I fix them. It's that simple

    The kid's going to have to chalk it up to life lessons and learn how to make better ones for himself. We all have to go through it. Since he's living at home, he should probably consult his family on the next best move regarding his new car. It sounds like this won't be something he ends up regretting he did for years.

    I had a friend who sold a 76 Trans Am with new paint, decals, tires, rebuilt 455, auto. This car had new brakes,battery. It was a really nice car. The father of this 16 kid comes back almost a month later saying that the car was a POS. My friend went out to the car with this guy and told him car had new tires, new everything and look at it now. Tires were bald, had some body damage,and engine had a noise in it. The father then realized his son lied to him about car. My thought was why would you buy your 16 year old son a high horsepower car. This guy left and no further contact. Graig was right always put on paper work "as is" no returns!!!!!!! .

    You take it back on consignment and make more money on it when you sell it again or if he signed the as is and the buyers guide is marked as is tell him to have a nice day the only problem with that is he will put you on blast
    But no refunds no buybacks unless it’s a captive finance deal and then you might as well because it will be a first payment default and you will have to buy it back either way plus he will mess up your rep with the lender

    I used to occasionally “flip” a car for a little extra cash years ago. I never had one come back on me because I was as honest as I could be about what I knew about the car. If I felt they didn’t grasp the concept of nothing is guaranteed, I’d just tell them this vehicle isn’t for you, you need to go find something else. Peace.

    He bought the car its his problem....The seller is not responsible once the car is sold,as is! You dont know how the owner treats the car and people are rough!

    This kid definitely had buyer's remorse. I can see if you sold him a car with major issues, especially not disclosed, you should be responsible for it. Bad luck and owner neglect should not be a contingency on returning an as is vehicle. Also, pressuring the sale is bad practice, it can get you in hot water as well. Good for you on a good sale and being honest.

    So you went above and beyond what 99% of car dealers (new or used ) would do in this situation. Being in car sales for over 48 years new and used and selling the car AS IS with no warranties and working at over 30 dealers in Ohio and Florida I would say absolutely that NO dealer would have taken this car back. You can go to sleep tonight KNOWING you did the right thing. I mean what would someone feel that got some type of warranty and paid extra for that like if dealers would take cars back because of buyers remorse. That wouldn't be fair would it?

    First I want to say that I know nothing about the car business. I am a small business owner of 20 years. Is possible to sell this car again (on his behalf) for a consignment fee? He would be gaining on your expertise in marketing the car. Perhaps even offer a sliding scale where ..... $1K would be the fee to sell down to $500 if it sold for less than say $12K. Also anything over $14K would also be part of the fee. i.e. the seller would get $13K best case and Adam would net somewhere between $500 and $1000+?
