    I don’t care about Rolex, but Explorer especially in 36mm has a soft spot in my heart. Bought this as a birth watch for my son. It will always stay in style.

    Wow! The most honest "personal" review; of all the reviews have read since the 124270 was introduced. Have my name on
    AD list since April 21. Have the 39 but always thought too big for my wrist.

    This remains my grail watch. I don't care for a Sub, GMT or any sports Rolex, but this is perfection for me. The only other watch from Rolex I'd consider is an Oyster Perpetual. The downside is the clasp in my opinion. I prefer the flip lock clasp.

    • @MrAnotherWatchTime

    12:34 Rolex already sponsored British Himalayan expeditions since 1933 with the Oyster Perpetual and the name " Explorer " was already patented on January 26, 1953, 4 months before the ninth British expedition conquered Mt Everest Chomolungma on May 29, 1953. Moreover SMITHS was the 2nd sponsor with the pre-production A409 wrist watch.

    Great story. How did you get this piece at retail? You had a purchase history?

    • @MrAnotherWatchTime
      @MrAnotherWatchTime  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Extremely minuscule purchase history for me - I actually got it from a friend who was lucky enough to purchase the piece before me from the same retailer. He lost interest in the piece and was honest to tell our AD that he was considering selling it off. She suggested passing it to me instead as I was "in line" but had to do it at retail price in order to not salvage the relationships lol

    Never get the hype over this watch. It's a simple design done well, but it is a tad boring for the money. I think the datejust is better . Of course it's all a matter of opinion.

      @@MrAnotherWatchTime , don't get me wrong rolex have designed some of the best watches ever , and they are fantastic at what they do , but they don't really take risks with anything, but again that could be classed as a positive. I've never actually personally owned one , but I have had hands on experience with them. I've always been a little disappointed with them, for the hype, but my Mrs inherited a datejust in 18k with a total diamond face , and it's a stunning piece , and she's not really into watches !!! But she loves it because it was her favourite aunties watch. I'm a watch nut , and would love a male one !!! I'm a big seiko fan boy , and I have a sla043, so I'm happy. I also have a rado original diver and a captain cook, plus a nice vintage tag heuer chronograph ca1212-1, and a Edox hydro sub, plus a few more seikos etc, so I'm hardly depraved, lol. Been into watches all my life , I just love them !!! It's the only bit of jewellery that most men wear, so it's always special , getting a new love .

      Agreed. Having owned the Explorer 14270, 114270, 214270, I've always preferred my Datejusts over them. Ironically, I walked into an AD last week and was able to buy the newest 124270 at retail.

      Been wanting an explorer for years. Thought the previous 39mm was too big for my 6.25 wrist. Finally bought the new version and found it way too small. Couldn’t stand the extreme taper of the bracelet. Ended up returning it to the AD. My hunt for the explorer continues
