They should've taken that part out or at least told her that they weren't gonna take it out. It's even worse that they lied to her and told her that she would take it out but didn't.
I don't know about that. Wikipedia says Neve was divorced in May 1998. Wild Things came out in March 1988. So Neve wasn't technically divorced yet and we have no idea if her intentions to divorce had even been made public at this point. There may have been no way for the interviewer to know she was getting divorced. She certainly knew about Neve's ballet history so she clearly did research.
