Honestly the way he explained it made it sound way more confusing than it actually is lol. Especially when he was talking about the scheduling stuff and how it all adds up to 162 games. Im a life long fan and I didn't even know how that all added up so it's really not too important. All you need to know is they play 162. From there its: 2 Leagues (AL and NL) 3 Divisions within each league Each team plays 162 games. The best team in each division automatically qualifies for the playoffs. The remaining 3 best teams in each league (AL and NL) also make the playoffs. From there its just a regular tournament, with each side of the bracket being one league (One is AL, one is NL). The two best teams in each league get a bye, and the tournament is played like normal, with each matchup being a series. The winner of the AL tournament and the winner of the NL tournament advance to the championship, and play a best of 7 series.
Basically they play over 160 games per season to avoid going broke because of domestic transportation teams will face into a mini series over the course of the season best 3 etc each game is recorded as a regular season win or loss. Playoffs starts with the best teams having a divisional bye round they proceed to the next round free pass whatever you call it. the rest of the bottom teams duke it out in best of 5 or so until 4 teams are left which they will be fighting for a best of 7 series until the world series.
@@benluecken2839appreciate it that was much simpler but I thought there were 16 teams now ? Isn’t there a wild card just tell me the rangers can still make playoffs PLEASE
@@BD-fk9fw no there are only 12. 6 from each league, the 3 division winners and 3 wild cards. The Rangers are still technically in it but they’re pretty far behind so it’s unlikely they’ll make it this year
So someone please break down how many series typically do teams play against each other? And why do they sometimes play 2 vs 3 or 4 game series thank you 🙏 😅
I don't know exactly how many times teams play against one another in a season, but I know that within a division they play each other the most, within the league they play against each other a couple times, and in the other league they only play maybe one or two series in total. As far as how many games they play in a series, it's usually 3 games. When it differs I'm pretty sure it boils down to when teams have off days, how many games each team has played, and the scheduling of games against other teams. Hope this helps.
Yeah, there's nothing official in terms of non-league rivalries, but there's definitely a natural geographical factor that makes certain matchups like Yankees/Mets more intriguing
@@snowmansportsmedia The MLB makes it unnecessarily difficult to look stuff like his up. I found a list now on an independent site. There are a few teams that alternate from year to year. The 4 games make sense for the rivals, since both get 2 home games. But who decides with all the other inter-league who gets the home field advantage for the 3 game series?
Look im a cricket fan so i have a sugestion i think 162 games is too much playing a season for a 6 months is too long too this make the game boring and taking that quality and competetivenas out of the games now im sugest this every team will play 8 games against the teams that are in your group so you get to play two times against the same oposition after 8 games tabale topers from all 6 group can play the world series what do you think
Genuine question: Is the general feeling of MLB fans that there’s too many games? I find it wild that it’s almost every day for 6 months, isn’t there potential to lose interest? Also, does this format mean the league table is usually wrapped up with a clear winner earlier, thus making the final games of the season essentially pointless?
@@snowmansportsmedia I saw someone say it’s intended as more of a pass time - get home from work, have a beer and watch baseball while you cook dinner (which would appeal to me) but even if you reduced the games you could still have a game on every night of the week, it just might not be your team

I live so close to Yankee Stadium that is would be crazy to not start watching baseball, thanks for the rundown. Hopefully we are good this year
Hey 6-1 not a bad start
Watched every game so far and went to a game. This is way more than I expected from da Yankees . LGY
LETS GO GET THAT RING LGY!!
alcs😫
I’m an immigrant, this finally explained things thank you. Still crazy complicated lol
Haha agreed
still absolutely dont understand lmao

MLB has to be the most complex league ever
Good video though
Instructions not clear. Ended up robbing a liquor store.
As an Australian, this was a good explanation. Question: who seems to win more? The ALCS or the NLCS teams?
It should be about 50/50 each year whether the AL or NL team wins the World Series

Explained really well thanks
Thats cleared up a lot, thank you!
Is the non league geographic rival the team closest? Are the Yankees/Mets and White Sox/Cubs geographic rivals?

Yes, as a casual MLB fan, there are way too many games, but baseball is known for sticking to tradition and being averse to change

Someone please explain why the brewers weren't a lock in the playoffs and had to play a wild card.
Cool thanks😅
Why so many games per season
🤷🤷
absolutely because MONEY dude.
NBA playoffs format makes more sense than this mess...
Okay. lol.
Way too many
