Using Large 5-6 foot boulders I start all over on my retaining walls. I take out old Stone & CMU walls, Excavate to open the view, Start to finish complete the 2nd wall, regrade and clean-up
This video popped up in my feed so I decided to check it out. Now I’ve subscribed and been binge watching old episodes. Love the explanations and tips.
I work for an irrigation company. Real small. And im learning all kinds of new stuff and hell even teaching my boss some tricks. Thanks to all of you. Great crew and even cooler Boss.
I really like what you’re doing with the boulders, more like a natural rock fall setting or rock quarry rather than a wall. The grandkids are going to have a blast climbing on it regardless.
I love watching your videos for 2 reasons you know what the hell you're doing and take pride in it, and 2 you probably could have someone else do all the work but you are still there in the middle of it.
You're making it work with the skidsteer but certainly an excavator is preferred for all this rock placing. Best situation to have both, i make it pretty well with my kubota kx040 and an ssv65. None the less Great job!
@@Dirtmonkey Yes the kubota mini ex's are fantastic machines, sometimes i wish i had the slightly bigger 57 but 90% of the time the 40 is plenty strong! Feels very well balanced compared to other brands i tried, maybe its a thing of "getting used to" as each machine is a bit different. My next addition to the pack will be an SVL90 or the newer 95 for heavier work.
I'd love to be selecting boulders with you on this project. I've been wondering about how your place flooded. Then there it is. This is the first time that I've seen your river. Nice! Thanks for the video Stan...
It's looking good Stan, you really have a good eye in how to meld your design! As for big rocks, I have a mining related one that happened to me about a decade ago, I'll tell you sometime if you care to hear about it...
I wish I was there helping you do that. I love working with natural rock an making something nice out of them. I know when we go outside working in the dirt and touching the rocks for years we get more energy from them because we are feeling the Earth's frequency flowing through our bodies and we do enjoy it. Take your shoes off and walk around in the dirt, then tell me how much better you feel. It works. Hit that like button also, TH-cam's algorithm will put this video where more people will see it. It helps out alot, an if you haven't already subscribe to this channel do it now and ring the bell so you will get notified when new video gets posted. Don't forget, hit that Like Button. Go outside an enjoy the sunshine, play or walk around barefooted in the dirt and play in the water. We know it works, look at the kids energy levels when they play outside, just like we did many years ago. All three of those will help your body feel alot better. Sunlight, water, and the Earth's frequency flows through our bodies making us happier and healthier. God bless us all.
@@Dirtmonkey absolutely sir. Place is a work in progress but the improvement 👌and I know there is more to come. That's the best part. Looking forward to see what comes next.
I'm impressed that this ASV was able to lift those large boulders. Wonder if cat 259d that I work with has that much lifting power. Talking about ASV, I'm surprised that there's no ASV dealer anywhere in Europe (as far as I know at least). They seem to be so good machines that are worth exporting to the other side of the ocean as well.
Like the real rocks. Have you explained what that rubber, rock facade on lower walls is? Do you really like it? I'm not lovin it. It do not have a final vision of the timber facade, the fake rubber rock facade with the big boulders. I love your channel nevertheless! You are what makes America a great place to live in. You work hard and play hard!
Another cool video Very interesting Also, don’t know if you care or not but I’m not a huge fan of the time lapse only because it’s hard to pick out fine details that some people are looking for…your videos are still really entertaining enough that I don’t leave half way through like other channels. Like I said, if you don’t care that’s totally fine, but just in case your were looking for our opinions, here they are :)
Cool, thanks. I appreciate it. I love the time lapse. i know you lose the details but you get to take so much in so fast. Its like information overload.
@@Dirtmonkey I like the time lapse as well but maybe stick with footage outside the equipment, had to look away during the time lapse view from inside the cab. Kinda made my head hurt lol. I dig that wall tho nice job!
@@Dirtmonkey That’s very true… glad you care about what the viewers say. Even though we have opposing view points on the time lapses, you still communicate with us. Props for being a hard working/caring youtuber Keep the great videos coming :)
Retaining walls look much better. Great work. An equipment question? What is your preference in skid steer loaders tired or tracked and why? I see from your videos y’all have both styles
Are you planting grass between the two walls? Or are you gonna leave it dirt? Or put stone down! I feel like a certain river rock or crushed stone would look so good between those and contrast the stone! Of course I know you said you’re going for a native look and not sure that fits the scene but just what popped into my head looking at it! Love these longer operating/ building videos!
What I would do is now put cement in front of the door but stamp it with like those stamps that make it look like rock idk what its called.. and make a home made tables like out of a stump or some thing natural for your rock seats
Hey Stan, would you ever think of visiting Abercrombie, ND? I could really use a professional opinion on a yard problem, and give the work to someone who knows what they're doing
Stan new Boulder wall looks great but what is on the wall is it supposed to look like stone Smitts beer the owner use to live about 15 min from my house we used to work for his neighbor he used to have a huge Christmas display at his house Ortliebs beer owner used to live a block away from him also in Drexel hill pa
Would it be possible to use the leftover boulders to build a dyke on the upstream side of your property to redirect overflow away from the building and reduce/delay damage from future flooding?
Hi Stan, how offten did flooding occure ?If it happened every few years I would of closed off that wall completely and waterproofed it.Then mabey a wrap around deck at the frist floor level? I would hate to see it under water and the celler flooded again.
Dirt Monkey, (don't laugh) have you taken courses or other studies to learn how dirt, rock, erosion, and visual flows should be designed and developed or is all of this just experience and passion? Your videos definitely stand out. Thanks.

Nice one Stan. 👍👍🏴🏴
Huge improvement over the old wall, great work, definitely have an artistic eye….
An artist always sees where improvements can be made, at a certain point you have to figure out where to stop or it will never be finished……
Thanks a bunch!

The plantings will really add to the overall. I don't know how you find the patience to set those stones.

You need to use some of the excess rocks to make a fire/bbq pit down near the water. Maybe even stone pizza oven.
