thanks for sharing the inspiring lessons you’ve learnt, Im a recreational runner whose been feeling a bit down lately and your words have motivated and reminded me why running is so meaningful.
I used to run every day, but for me it became an unhealthy obsession, and felt like the world would end if I had to skip a day. Injuries lasting longer than necessary, because I refused to dial it back. I hadn't heard of zone 2 back then, so I always ran hard (which is still my absolute favourite). These days I only run 4 days a week, and make sure to train smarter.
OUTSTANDING Ian!!! Huge huge huge CONGRATULATIONS reaching 4 years!! 👏🏻👍🏻💪🏻🏃♂💪🏻 You had such a massive influence on me when I found your channel almost 2 years ago, inspiring me to run just about every day myself, only missing about 10 days last year, and this year I don't think I've missed a day at all!! One thing I've noticed is that I almost never have boring runs any more , when i started running I quickly decided that my motto was gonna be RUN HAPPY, and I've noticed that as I practice that I've gotten better and better at it, so my happiness out running has also improved as much as my running has improved. I don't even remember the last time I had a boring run now!! We are truly truly blessed to have legs and be able to run!!😃😁😆💪🏻🏃🏻♀💪🏻
Well done. I found your channel and subscribed tonight. My year hasnt been great mentally but im getting back out running and I have my first 50 mile Ultra in 2024. One foot in front of the other.....
Hi Gary, thanks for the comment and watching. Great to hear that you are getting back to running and have a 50 miler to look forward to - which one are you doing?
Totally with you on this one, Ian. We don't think `if' we will run but when, how far and how fast. It's just part of our day like eating and shopping. But one which makes life so much richer.
Just found your channel! I also run everyday, it’s been just over 7 years now. My runs may not be as long or as fast as yours, but I agree with everything you’ve said. I would have stopped running through Covid year(s) if it wasn’t for my run streak! I went the other way than most - down to 1 mile a day. But building back up to where I was before and running has always been there for me.
Thank you and congratulations on the first park run! If you haven't found his channel already, check out Mark Lewis. He does don't great park run videos!
There have been challenges. Lockdown (ran in the garden), some sickness and a few niggles, but I tend to run 'around' them. I also factor in at least one or two really easy mile days and that helps the recovery!
Lovely trail out there...... ps RED.... I ran 1700 days until I couldn't run any further my left foot had approximately 10 strained tendons in it (with plantar fasciitis)... then varicose vein removal (thats some thing I put in for) - I knew it was looming the surgery but I was mentally prepared for the day I would stop running.... I had a 2 week break and back at it.... take every niggle seriously, listen to each strain, listen to you body more than I did and you'll keep going!!! I'm on Strava if you want to follow....> Stephen Hughes ✊🇺🇦🇵🇸
Cheers, Stephen! Yeah, I nurse the odd niggle every now and again. Currently dealing with a bit of foot pain, but I've hopefully caught it early enough and should be able to get back on track quickly! How far were you running each week?
This is not for me. I rather go for long and not that often. Same goes for everything in life. Do things for long and your mind will benefit. But hey, if something else works for you, keep doing it!
Do you not use music when you run and as it looks evident that you regularly don’t, why is that? Im trying to not rely on it but finding it difficult to switch as it motivates me
No, not really. I may listen to a podcast, but only once or twice a week. If it works for you, no reason to stop using it. I try to use the running time to have a chat with myself to be honest and can't do that with music !
Running everyday for four years complete! Thanks for all of the support along the way. Next stop, five years!

I'm glad to hear it has been helpful, mate. Hopefully done more content like that coming soon. Keep running!
Agree with all of this. Especially the realization that yes, it could all be gone tomorrow. Big big sentiment there!
Exactly - take nothing for granted 🙏 thanks for watching; it's appreciated!

Yeah, I can totally relate to that. I have at least one or two days now where I just do one mile and that keeps the injuries at bay, fingers crossed!
I'm finishing up my first year of running every day on the 31st. I don't know if I'll continue, but it taught me some valuable lessons.
Congrats mate, that's great. Yeah, there is so much to take away from it I almost don't know how to stop now! 😅

Such an incredible achievement. Huge kudos Ian! 👏👏👏😎🤘
Cheers, Ben! Onwards to year 5!
Been running everyday for 2 years...mental health was my motivation. Great video!👌 Thanks 🙏
There is no better way to silence the chatter ... Thanks for watching and connecting; it is appreciated 🙏
Totally with you on this one, Ian. We don't think `if' we will run but when, how far and how fast. It's just part of our day like eating and shopping. But one which makes life so much richer.
Absolutely - now I just need to do the same with strength training and eating my fruits and vegetables 😂
Best wishes for 2024!
Cheers mate! You too 🙏😊
I like the idea of checking in with yourself when the milage is low and then the opposite when it high. 👌
Yeah, it's a good barometer for life!
@@IRunDaily it sure is!
Great video, totally agree with you but on the days I don’t run I seem to be on a downer.
Yup! I'm not great to have around 😂

Well done! 7 years is amazing, regardless of pace or distance, just getting out of the door is the most important thing!
@@IRunDaily Thank you!
What a legend 👍🏻❤ Well done mate
Cheers mate! Onto the next year!
Solid lessons! And congrats on your accomplishment!
Thanks mate - greatly appreciated 😊 🙏
Sexy gets you likes. Boring gets you results.
Absolutely - just keep chopping away at the little things and it will all come together! Thanks for watching 🙏😀
Did my first Park-run 5k this morning in Ashford 52minutes my aim is to run it without walking, nice vid.
Thank you and congratulations on the first park run! If you haven't found his channel already, check out Mark Lewis. He does don't great park run videos!
In those years you have not been sick or injured at all that prevented you from running? Or other circumstances.
There have been challenges. Lockdown (ran in the garden), some sickness and a few niggles, but I tend to run 'around' them. I also factor in at least one or two really easy mile days and that helps the recovery!
"staying up late, watching Netflix, drinking, eating too much... which one of these your vice might be" - ONE of them?
😂 not all at once, surely!

So you don't feel like a day or two of recovery now and then would be beneficial? Or do you just compensate that by running shorter some days?
Yeah, exactly that. A mile run once it twice a week helps the recovery!
This is not for me. I rather go for long and not that often. Same goes for everything in life. Do things for long and your mind will benefit.
But hey, if something else works for you, keep doing it!

@@IRunDaily thanks..i think that chat with myself is what i need too. I went through your four points while running today👍
Beutifull.
Thank you 🙏
