Awesome :) you could get a sneaky remap on your 540c if you ever felt the need for more power. The engine can obviously a lot more. I suspect it feels pretty darn quick enough though.
James is just the better driver. 30hp is not that much on twisty roads where driver skills are the most important factor. Even the tyres if one of the two had different tyres could make a huge difference.
this is a bit like the jaguar f type v6/v8 argument. I've heard from owners that the 4wd and heavy engine block in the front of the car can actually make the v8 less enjoyable to drive than the v6 and on normal roads you wouldn't appreciate the extra power anyway

Sorry to be pedantic, but PS is not hp. The 540 pushes out 532hp at 7500rpm while the 570 generates 562hp at 7400rpm. The difference is actually 29hp, not 30 ;) The change you're most likely to feel in road driving is torque -- 398 lb-ft (available from 3500rpm) in the 540 vs the 570's 443 lb-ft (at 5000rpm). Worth the £17K difference?
+alan jackson you are comparing two cars in an entirely different price range. the r8 plus costs more than 195,000GBP and the 540 is around 125,000GBP. your comparison doesn't make sense. performance wise the r8 is better and sounds better. as a daily driver, the mclaren is better. reliability wise, audi is easier to maintain (in the US) although the mclaren is cheaper to maintain. if you really want to compare cars, compare the 540, amg gt(base model) or the lower porsche 911 models.

It would look so much better woth some colour running through the back, just under the headlights. It would break up the blackness and such. I feel like ATM if looks like the rear end is falling out of the car.
Nice comparison. Hp is of course not as important on the passes. did the Silvretta in a 911 and 911S and the 50Hp more of the S wasn't useful. wish they sold the 540 in the U.S.
Sam you're totally biased on this one, I usually agree with you on every video but i'm not sure you're totally right on this one. Im a 570 owner and ive driven the 540c many times. In the UAE, mclaren dubai has integrated many beneficial options as a combo package and has made the 570s a better moving car in terms of sales too. Theres not 1 540c thats been sold in Dubai btw.

The 540C is about 88% the price of the 570S, but 99% the experience.
the main difference for me it's the rear diffuser. It's worth every penny. It looks so much better.
A Toyota Camry is about 5% the price of the 570S but 20% the experience.

That voids the warranty making the money saved useless as your going to spend a ton when it breaks

I like the 540c's back better, looks cleaner. The 30hp diffrence is not an issuse a little tune wouldnt fix.

Winter tires suck on temps above 5c, become squishy and you just don't feel confident as when with proper summer tires.

I certainly wouldn't feel short changed by the 540C, I think it is a brilliant choice!
