    At 8700miles, my 570S engine light came on with "mis-fire cylinder 8". Ended up that oil had eaten the inside of a turbo and caused havoc. $92,000 complete engine replacement. Took 7.5 months, fortunately on warranty. Car never ran the same after. Some malfunction message almost every start. IRIS screen had constant problems.

    Four common issues: Power trains; electrical systems, body panels, and upholstery. Other than that everything works fine. The cigarette lighters are reliable - somewhat.

    Unless I missed it, you didn't mention bodywork corrosion. I've had 3 McLarens from brand new, a 540c (I only had this for a couple of months), a 570s Spider and a 720s Spider and both the 570 and 720 suffered from corrosion of both front wings. This was not a big deal for me because the work was covered under warranty but outside of the 5 year (I think) bodywork warranty, I would be very wary indeed. I believe the 720s wing replacements cost somewhere in the region of £30k for the 2. The work required on my last service for the 720s, which I kept for 3 years, totalled over £9k (3 failed springs ++++). The car had done just over 8,000 miles. Again almost all of this work, apart from the service itself, was covered by the warranty but if I'd kept it 4 years, that would have been down to me. You have to be brave and rich to buy one of these things outside of warranty, in my opinion.

      How is there corrosion when the bodies are made from Carbon fiber or plastic composites? Little to no steel, unless it's aluminum panels, and that corrosion is easily dealt with.

    • @Grahamponting
      @Grahamponting 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am sure you can buy extended warranties but they are more expensive for McLarens than many other models - I would never buy one without an extended warranty, just an additional cost of owning such a car. I didn't mention in my rant that the cars are fantastic to drive; you just need to know what you are getting into. @@realasscracka

    • @Grahamponting

      My thoughts, too, but paint bubbled around the wheel arches of my 570s Spider and 720s Spider within 2 years from brand new, and both wings needed replacing. Part of the problem with McLaren is that they don't release their paint codes to independent body shops, so you have no alternative but to go through McLaren for this kind of repair. McLaren dealerships are franchises, so they love it when they are asked to do warranty repair work, I imagine McLaren head office are less enthusiastic. HO do not support their franchisees well either; they wouldn't even lend me a car when my 720s was in for 3 weeks having the repair work carried out - that I was until I complained to the CEO - they then lent me an Audi!!!!! When one is buying a car on PCP, there is a real cost to being without it for extended periods because it wasn't built correctly.@@ctdope

    • @ctdope
      @ctdope 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @Grahamponting WOW. That sounds very frustrating, and it sounds like they have little to no respect for their customers. I dont know if they treat their customers like that here in the US. I have heard about their refusal of paint codes. Thats sad. Their cars look beautiful, but it looks as if after they sell it, they dont care much about you. Sorry for your bad experience. Hope they get better at customer relations.

      I have had 3 570's the first of which was a Spider. The spider made some weird noises that I didn't like, I think it was chassis flex. I test drive a 650S and honestly that is what I would get because it had a fantastic ride! I don't want to sell the 570s short because I am enamored with them in the coupe form.

    I had a 570s for 1 year. It showed up with door faults and the ac didn't work. Anytime the car was washed it would shut down randomn electronics or throw a fault, it never worked properly. The firewall detached and was sitting on the frame. The car was garaged on a battery tender and the car 50% of the time wouldn't recognize the key. I'd have to wave it around the car to get it to recognize key. Worst made car I've ever owned.

    What many people fail to Realize is that McLarens are "Real Race Cars" and not necessarily production cars... Ie: their quality control is not going to be excellent like a Merc, or BMW, or Porsche. They make excellent race cars, and their manufacturing process growing so rapidly has some quality control issues, as well as quirks that will iron out in due time. If anyone has owned a race car, or a complete Frame off car.. it will always need tending to.m especially when it's driven hard. If you want reliability get a Toyota... If you want a white knuckle experience, heart out of your stomach, thrillride.. get a McLaren.. with a great crew Chief.. and enjoy my Friends .. 😉💯

    I have 1 problems with the aventador when it only 1000 miles (engine won’t start and has to towed to dealer) another problem with aventador is battery went out too fast when park at home.
    I have a 488 spider with 9000 miles and have no problem with it.
    IMO i still like the aventador the best. (1- doors goes up, 2- it shoot flames and loud with IPE exhaust, 3- it is 12 cylinders, 4- body shape looks more masculine like a fighter jet inside and out
