The Justice League/Unlimited cartoon from the mid-2000s was the best "on screen" depiction of Superman. He was stronger than everyone else but not by much. Also had the best superman personality too. The Nicest man you'll ever meet. I mean he invited Martian Manhunter to come to his house for Christmas since the Martian was alone for the holidays.(One of my favorite episodes BTW) But don't threaten his friends or innocents, then Mr. Nice Man goes away. Infact the JLU cartoon had some of the best Depictions of DC super heroes and villains period.
In that show he’s by far the physically strongest,and the most durable,however the restrictions on his other powers and abilities in that show keep him from making the rest of the team look like pissants,those are the only two powers that he absolutely trounces the other leaguers in,every other power of the animated superman is only half of what the others can do,but in the comics he makes the other leaguers look like nothing when he starts getting a bit more serious than usual.

My belief and why I like superman is that it's not just about how powerful he is but what he does with that power. He is the exception to the saying power corrupts. It's also probably why injustice became so popular because there's probably more people that want to see him fall. Because it makes him more "human" to falter and become corrupt simply because too many people believe they wouldn't be able to do what he does with the power he has.

My problem is with the story about him getting is power from the sun, which is ludicrous. Some of his feats would require more than the total energy output of the sun over its life, much less the tiny amount he's absorbed over his life. You may as well explain his powers as coming from drinking tea--it would make as much sense. I realize that physics don't work the same in comic book worlds, but this is beyond the pale. He either needs to have his power restricted, or they need to change the explanation, because the standard story makes absolutely no fucking sense whatsoever.

His origin is too underwhelming proportional to the powers he possess. Simply moving him from a red star to a yellow shouldn't make the difference between being a mere human and a god. Same goes for other interplanetary characters such as Martian Manhunter, or accidental sources of powers (Hulk, flash....etc)

If you look at their power sets logically and compare them to both the villains they fight and the circumstances they find themselves in generally, they really shouldn't have any trouble with either, and the world around them wouldn't function well at all because of their existence
I don’t see how Superman can be overpowered. In the context of the DC Universe with actual Gods as supporting characters, surely he fits right in? Plus, a comic book character should not be credited on their ability or power levels in my opinion, but the core of the character itself and how he uses those abilities, for which Superman is a prime example of great character. I personally used to think of him as boring and too perfect until I actually began to delve into the character about 10 years ago by reading the Superman comics and being surprised by how much the character resonated with me. He quickly became my favourite superhero.

I subconsciously rolled my eyes when he said supes only dropped one sweat benching the Earth's weight like cmon that's ridiculous. I'm sure there's a logical strength for kryptonians. Also even though his ability to speed back in time is insane, it doesn't beat time travel via portals. He could theoretically be stopped during that point... or that's how it goes in my head. The short of it is if supes goes superfast to go back in time to stop someone who can teleport through time, that person can just teleport through time in the future a lot (or once into the past) and encase the world with their varius iterations of their selves. Basically if your first teleport to catch supes fails, you just do it again and again at that same moment, filling the moment full of yourself. The end result is that there is only one actual moment where supes gets caught and there are like thousands of other yous grabbing nothing. This power is a bit hard to explain because in order for it to happen there must be a failed attempt, but since it all happens at once you already see the end result of success as you fail again and again and again in your personal movement through time. But yeah that's what my character has.

I think the films recently have done a great job with handling his powers.
No they haven’t they just put him against other krypton’s but he easily beat Wonder Woman and aquaman with no effort and Wonder Woman killed arse a god who in his prime slaughtered the entirety of Olympus and Zeus had to use all his power to push him back and weaken him and it gave Zeus little time to live. She should be able to keep up with and hurt superman if she can hurt the god of war, then there’s the justice league Snyder cut superman didn’t show up under the other characters got there ass kicked, you know a character is too powerful when you have to side line for a entire movie just to make it good through the entire justice league movie after superman’s resurrection I was just like this would not be a problem if superman came in. So justice league destroyed itself by making him overpowered only to then realise there mistake side line him until the last second before someone dies only to have him absolutely destroy the bad guy with no effort and then I realised that if superman came straight into the fight the movie would have been shortened by a lot.
That's why I think the Injustice Storyline was one of the best things DC could do for Supes. He went from a Boy Scout goody goody, to the greatest villain in the world.

My problem is with the story about him getting is power from the sun, which is ludicrous. Some of his feats would require more than the total energy output of the sun over its life, much less the tiny amount he's absorbed over his life. You may as well explain his powers as coming from drinking tea--it would make as much sense. I realize that physics don't work the same in comic book worlds, but this is beyond the pale. He either needs to have his power restricted, or they need to change the explanation, because the standard story makes absolutely no fucking sense whatsoever.

His origin is too underwhelming proportional to the powers he possess. Simply moving him from a red star to a yellow shouldn't make the difference between being a mere human and a god. Most superheroes are overpowered. If you look at their power sets logically and compare them to both the villains they fight and the circumstances they find themselves in generally, they really shouldn't have any trouble with either, and the world around them wouldn't function well at all because of their existence
I don’t see how Superman can be overpowered. In the context of the DC Universe with actual Gods as supporting characters, surely he fits right in? Plus, a comic book character should not be credited on their ability or power levels in my opinion, but the core of the character itself and how he uses those abilities, for which Superman is a prime example of great character. I personally used to think of him as boring and too perfect until I actually began to delve into the character about 10 years ago by reading the Superman comics and being surprised by how much the character resonated with me. He quickly became my favourite superhero.

I subconsciously rolled my eyes when he said supes only dropped one sweat benching the Earth's weight like cmon that's ridiculous. I'm sure there's a logical strength for kryptonians.
Also even though his ability to speed back in time is insane, it doesn't beat time travel via portals. He could theoretically be stopped during that point... or that's how it goes in my head. The short of it is if supes goes superfast to go back in time to stop someone who can teleport through time, that person can just teleport through time in the future a lot (or once into the past) and encase the world with their varius iterations of their selves.
Basically if your first teleport to catch supes fails, you just do it again and again at that same moment, filling the moment full of yourself. The end result is that there is only one actual moment where supes gets caught and there are like thousands of other yous grabbing nothing.
This power is a bit hard to explain because in order for it to happen there must be a failed attempt, but since it all happens at once you already see the end result of success as you fail again and again and again in your personal movement through time.
But yeah that's what my character has.

What a shocker that a character called *super* man would be overpowered. If there is one character in all of fiction that should be overpowered, it is Superman because being overpowered is in his very name. Newsflash: the concept of being "over" powered or "under" powered comes from the video game World, where units and factions are supposed to be balanced against each other. But this is not how fictional universes work. In fictional universes, some characters are more powerful than others, as it should be. It's not supposed to be a "fair" fight.
Marvel's the Sentry is a perfect example of too much power. Superman isn't there yet.
