    Ah the dear man was frey Derry as we say in my own county in North, (next door) a fantastic singer like Derry do give us the best like Phil and Dana !! Proud to and Irish man, but sub section it, even prouder to be an 9 county Ulster man, we didnt have many singers in my we glens county, just a few great actors like our Liam and yer man frey Nesbit, originaly from Broughshane the Coleraine, so we doing grand

    @1276epr He was Irish,, born Joseph McLaughlin born in Derry, Northern Ireland now , and was not an American, or a German etc., his father was a Butcher, and he served in the Irish Guards, then worked as a Policeman, and went on stage in the UK as the "Singing Bobby". His stage name was billed by Jack Hylton to make it more recognisable.

    @anglerfly It was actually by a German guy by the name of Abe Holzmann in 1901
