A legend of the comedy who is still loved by the people who remember his shows before they were pulled from the airwaves.
None of the modern comedians of today even come close to the talent of the late great Benny Hill.

The British were careful to not write 'out and out' smut. They would write a clean script, but in such a way, it had more than one meaning'. So the show could be as innocent or dirty as your mind !!! Obviously Mrs Slocum was talking about her cat.... but.... it could be taken another way!!! And they made hundreds of shows like that. There were very clever. (The only problem would be watching a show with your mum and dad, and trying not to pee your self laughing at some joke that you were not supposed to understand 'at your age'.

A Comedy Genius! Highly talented. Held his own amid a distinguished company of legendary comedians. More than a multifaceted professional performer, he was a creative artist, crafting his work from start to finish, packing in a full variety of innovative entertainment, very much tailored for its time, in the riskee British, Carry On tradition.😂

I should mention a further significant contribution Benny made to his comedy scene never never given due credit.
Ofcourse like most comedians, he was considerably influenced by both the silent Greats, plus his cornucopia of top comic talent sharing his era. However by far he was more a source of original influence for his fellow funny men. The most notable borrowers from his genius include giants such as Beyond the Fringe, Spike Milligan, Dave Allen, Monty Python,
Two Ronnie's, Marty Feldman, Not the 9 Oclock News...

The show's value as an archive may have been saved by its cancellation while it hadn't lost all popularity. Benny Hill was visibly tired in the last season.

I remember Benny Hill's earlier BBC shows. Far less frequent, they were very creative. Toward the end, the Benny Hill Show did become a bit formulaic and thus predictable.

Ben Elton was not a comic, nothing he said was ever funny .
He may have told people he was but he was not .

As a man I am a feminist, And I laughed a lot about the silly chasings as we do as men. Without showing this openly the world looks hypocrite. Espescially some moral knights that are uncovered as sneaky. Women are great.

For me Benny was a great comedian , maybe the greatest brittish comedian I know. I loved to see him on our national belgium tv . But I also liked the comedian garry cooper .
Garry cooper maded me laugh without saying a word. So for my part garry and Benny where the 2 greatest comedians of brittania ...

There was nothing "controversial" about the Benny Hill show - except in the eyes of overly prude Americans, like those who made this nonsensical video.

Peter Sellers and Benny both died within a year or two of one another and...ENGLAND JOINING THE WRETCHED EU! Both poked gentle fun at foreigners, eccentrics and our own people, and that, I believe, "contributed" to their early death and disappearance from our screens. Put that down as a conspiracy theory if you must. It won't bring them back.RIP Benny and Peter - we're still chuckling away at the memory of your great characters!

Basically it had run it's course and fashion changed. However Benny Hill put many years of dedication and clever comedy into his shows and was an icon of his era. Taking the micky out of the female sex and indeed the male sex should never be seen as derogatory to either sex, but simply taken for what it is and that is to make people laugh. Benny Hill was no accident and all credit to this British man who bought years of laughter to the whole world. Thank you Benny Hill!
