Congrats my friend! I just did the drawing for the vise and this comment came up. Send me an email and I'll get the vise in the mail to you. matt@savageflies.com
This is easily one of the best alternatives to the 'luxury' vices out there. All that extra savings can be better spent for materials , hooks, and other fly tying tools. This vice will do the job. Thanks for reviewing it.
This is the vice I'm currently using. I've had it a year or so and love it! The jaw arm did get a little loose where the arm meets the jaw assembly, but the replacement jaw for the Nirvana vise at Moonlit Fly fishing is only $14 and is an exact fit for this vise. So even with the extra $14 for that, if ever needed, it's an excellent vise for a really reasonable price. Thanks for the review, and as always, looking forward to you next episode.
Thanks Matt. A very good vice especially for beginners who want to upgrade from a basic introductory vice. Thanks for giving back Matt. I won’t be using the word s**nk, just wanted you to know I appreciate how much you care for the fly tying community. I hope whoever wins this appreciates it too. God bless
Matt, your awesome!!!! Just started tying flies, and came across your channel, you have taught me the basics on how to tie flies, thanks! I bought this very vise with a material starter kit....limited, but it got me started tying....thanks for all you do.
Matt love your work. I started teaching tying this season for a table full of brothers nieces and nephews. This vice looks like a good option for my beginners. I'll send them a link and no I don't seem to have a skunk skin in my collection.
To neutralize the smell of a skunk spray, combine hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and dish soap to create a homemade solution, then thoroughly wash the affected area with it.
Thank you for what your doing. I live in western nc and looks like fishing going be slim to none for awhile. But I'll keep tying and watching your channel. You do a great job. Thanks
Good morning Matt. Nice review. That vise will be a nice addition for someone looking to start or for travel for some. I like my travel vise to be a pedestal so it can be used anywhere like a truck tailgate. I’m really happy with what I’m currently using so good luck to all those entering. Thanks Matt for providing the opportunity.
Always look forward to your posts. Especially your Smoky Mountain fles. That is close to where I live and planning to tie a box of nothing but those flies. With a box of those flies one could never be skunk
Great review! This is the only real review I have found for this particular vise. My old vice is a skunk by comparison. I think I have found a good upgrade at a price that is nice.
Nice review as always. I appreciate the way you give back to your viewers. It’s always nice to catch the first fish of the day to get the skunk off of the boat.
Managed to tie with our Mayfly Project kids this weekend and avoided the skunk on the flies they tied on some previous vises you’ve recommended Matt! Thanks for all that you do. 👍🏽
It appears that the tensioning screw can be put onto the back of the barrel for left-handed tires, pretty convenient. Thanks for the review, I just placed my order on Amazon. My first fly will be made with skunk fur.
Hey Matt! As always, thanks for your honest reviews and all you do for our tying community! Looks like sweet vise....really like the case. I've been tying for 50 years or so and still using my Thompson Model A. Might have to consider this one. Maybe even find a pattern that uses SKUNK!
At $56 it seems like a screaming deal, especially with that case, and it ain't no skunk. I wish I could buy the case separately for my Renzetti. Keep the good stuff coming Matt.
Hello, Matt. Great review, as always. This would be a great vise for my daughter to use, as she is still learning how to tie some nice patterns, to rid herself of the skunk when she fishes. 😮
Looking to buy my first vise. Watched the review and appreciated the information. I don't want to get skunked when I finally decide on which one to buy.
I have been looking at that vise on Amazon as a traveler style vise. Love watching your reviews and your fly tying. Keep up the good work. Skunk is a bad word for fisherman but honestly it means just one more day closer to catching fish.
Good review matt, it's been awhile since I've seen you videos looking forward to catching up on them. Good name for Dr Fish is the travel skunk, have a great day Matt
Good review . It would be a good second or travel vise for anyone who has a skunk day of fishing and they want to tie to make the day better. It would be a great starter vise for a beginning tyer. Thanks for the in-depth review.
Love your reviews on vises.Lord knows I don’t need another one but I’m going to add skunk here and if I win I would like for you to donate it to a very worthy beginner for me.thank you again for this vlog.
Great review, covering everything someone would need to know. I agree it would make a nice starter vice. I'm satisfied with my Renzetti Traveler since I got it to replace my original Thompson vice long ago. Dr. Fish seems very comparable at a much better price. Thanks.
That’s a beautiful vice! I am still using the stationary vice from my friend and the vice out of my Orvis fly tying kit. I am most definitely saving up for a rotary vice! Tight lines!
Thanks Matt. This is a timely review. I just started seriously tying with an old kit and have been looking at rotary vices. I saw a dead skunk on the road today and wondered if fly tiers use road kill fur in anything the tie.
That is a sweet looking vise. It would definitely be an upgrade to my cheap SKUNK vise that i am currently using. Thank you for the honest review Matt. You have a wonderful day and week Matt. God Bless you and your family.
Thanks for the great review Matt! This would be perfect for my nephew, who just got into fly fishing. I did see a fly once called the skunk, but I haven’t ever used that particular material. Hope your week goes great, thanks again for sharing this.
Skunk. That looks like a really nice vise for the money. Definitely for me it would be a great travel vise since im on a regal revolution at home. Love the case and seems to have stirage for tools as well. Great review Matt!
Great review. I would love a travel vise. I went fly fishing Friday. Water still pretty cold here is Texas and of course I got the skunk. It was nice being outside though. Thanks Matt. Have a great week.
"SKUNK"!!! I'm currently tying on a non rotary vise and would really love to try a rotary vise and I think the clamp is the best way to go. Great review as always. Keep up the videos!
Good Morning Sir Matt, great review and good luck to the new tiers. I have a Reagal Medallion and a Griffin Spider Cam. Both are travel all my needs are taken care of with these two vises. ALWAYS watching and tight lines your friend Edward in Texas.
Looks like a great low end vise Matt.I ve never even seen a rotary vise in person.I’ll definitely check this one out and see how many Skunk flies I can tie.
First time making a comment. I've been watching for years and coping many of your flies, usually the day after. This review was timely as my grandson is starting to tie and watches you all the time. Trust your reviews and will purchase one for my grandson. #skunk
Sunk, I'm new to tying love every moment I'm tying behind it. Definitely looking for an upgrade. Awesome review!!! Hoping to get lucky. Wife and l are having health issues and money is very tight.
Oh wow. Nice find. I have my Peak that I love but it’s a Haus to travel with. I have a crown but it’s heavy for a travel, this looks like upgrade material here and I keep the rotary function. Thanks Matt
Morning Matt. I tie a lot of flys on my rotary vice I have. I indicated in another thread of a previous video my difficulty with tying beards on classical wet flys that I tie on smaller hooks. This Vice looks like it has the clearance. I believe I have a pattern that I could substitute “skunk” tail in the wing mixed with buck tail. It might be a good accent for this large wet fly/streamer.
Good morning Matt nice review I e been tying for a couple of years and always enjoy your videos, keep up the great work and stay away from the skunk.thanks for all you do for our sport.
Thanks Matt for another good review. I'm thinking it would make a great travel vise especially tying a green tailed skunk fly! I enjoy ur video's. Keep them coming. God Bless n Fish on!
G’morning Matt. Very good review video. Some guys tend to ramble a bit on their reviews, but you stayed on point and gave a comprehensive analysis quickly, perfect! I even got a chuckle as usual, thank you Mr #snunk
Nice review. That looks like a pretty good travel vise or starter vise for a new tyer. I’m glad there is still innovation going on in fly tying. You made an interesting choice of keyword for the giveaway. I’m already set for vises, so I won’t use the word, but it made for some funny reading in the comments. :-)
Thanks for the review, Matt. It's great, open, and straightforward, as always. I will pass my chance on this and hope that it will end up in the hands of a new tyer. Your friend Greg in Jefferson city mo
Thanks for the review, Matt. I am looking for an additional vise and this looks like the one to buy. I always get skunk (ed) so I am ordering one now. 😂
Skunk! Greetings from Montana. Great review as always. This looks nearly identical to the Nirvana vise from dragontail tenkara. I think you knew that. I'm certain you didn't mention that in order not to detract from their sales, which I can appreciate. I have the Nirvana and really like it. The heavy base it comes with is a must. Though I wish I would have waited on purchasing the Nirvana vise, since now they have cool anodized colors available. Love your channel! PS. I've watched so many of your fly tying videos my wife is becoming annoyed by it. 🤓
I am new to tying and this vise looks like a great entry rotary vise. I would like to se a video on how you skin a skunk or other road kill for tying material
Morning Matt. Awesome review ! As always, your product reviews are well thought out and thorough. I could certainly use a quality Travel vice since I’ll be probating my father’s estate for several months 3000 miles from home and don’t have anything to try and learn to tie. #skunk is a fitting name to me.
Thanks Matt! As others have said: I love your concise, straightforward and unbiased reviews. I've been thinking about a travel vise for a while and this will certainly fit the bill. I think I'll take a shot at this one and if I get #skunk (ed) I'll buy one from the big A. Thanks again, stay safe!
Nice review, I've been looking for an inexpensive travel vise and this might be it. Hopefully I won't get skunked with the flies that I tie on it. Cheers!
any vise that holds a hook firm is better than none at all; to get one with a true rotary function at a price like that is a win! Thanks Matt #skunk
Congrats my friend! I just did the drawing for the vise and this comment came up. Send me an email and I'll get the vise in the mail to you. matt@savageflies.com
Woah no way! Thank you Matt, I’ll email you right away my friend, I appreciate you!

Matt. You are definitely not a skunk. You continue to give positive vibes to get people interested in fly tying.
For sure! Got me interested. A couple of random encounters on the rivers and this channel are all I've needed so far.
Thanks, I bought one. Very helpful. I can't wait to get started.
Matt, your awesome!!!! Just started tying flies, and came across your channel, you have taught me the basics on how to tie flies, thanks! I bought this very vise with a material starter kit....limited, but it got me started tying....thanks for all you do.

Skunk. Thank you for ALL your advice, Matt. They are very helpful. That vise would be perfect for a travel kit. Keep the videos coming! 👊🏻
Hey Matt, hope all is well. This looks like a winner for a travel vise and a good one to take with me on my skunk hunting adventures! #skunk
Thanks for the review! I was looking at rotary vises this morning to upgrade, but did not want to buy a skunk. Thanks again enjoy your videos!
Need a good travel vice. Skunk is usually my luck in these give aways. Thanks for all your videos. Keep them coming.
Thank you for what your doing. I live in western nc and looks like fishing going be slim to none for awhile. But I'll keep tying and watching your channel. You do a great job. Thanks
Well thank you Marcus! I appreciate the kind words my friend. I wish you the best of luck down there. I hope the recovery doesn't take too long.
Good morning Matt. Nice review. That vise will be a nice addition for someone looking to start or for travel for some. Great job as always on the review. I’ve got to get back to my bench as I need some new flies after getting skunked on my last trip.
Always look forward to your posts. Especially your Smoky Mountain fles. That is close to where I live and planning to tie a box of nothing but those flies. With a box of those flies one could never be skunk
Great review! This is the only real review I have found for this particular vise. My old vice is a skunk by comparison. I think I have found a good upgrade at a price that is nice.
love the review of this vise. Hope i don't get skunked in another drawing. thanks for your great tying videos.
Thanks for the review Matt. I have been considering upgrading my vise from the one I got in a kit a while back. Skunk.
Thank you for reviewing this vise. I've seen it but haven't been able to find any reputable reviews until now. My current vise is a real skunk.
Thanks for the review. Surprised by the value! You won't be skunked buying this.
It appears that the tensioning screw can be put onto the back of the barrel for left-handed tires, pretty convenient. Thanks for the review, I just placed my order on Amazon. My first fly will be made with skunk fur.
Awesome Video!Thank you for your review of our products!
You're most welcome!
It appears to be a nice-looking vice. I could tie a few skunk fly patterns. Thanks for giving back and promoting fly tying.
Skunk you channel is very intuitive and fun to watch
Skunk.
Your videos have been so helpful and a great source of reliable information. I really appreciate your detailed and clear explanations!
Love the channel Matt! The flies I have tied following the videos keep me off the SKUNK. Keep it tight!

I was considering this vise. My son and i enjoy spending time together creating lures on our beginner kit. Looking to upgrade and not get a skunk😊
Great review! Glad to see it is not a skunk of a vice!
Getting skunked on the river fortunately not lately. 😊have a great day fun video.
Nice review. Looks perfect for a travel vice. I could tie my skunk fly all day on the road.
I was looking at this vice! great timing. Thanks for the review. A skunk is often under appreciated.
I hope I don't get Skunk this summer on fishing.. love watching you videos , have a great day.. God Bless

Just started watching your show. I'm pretty new and fly tying and am really enjoying your content.
Sounds like a good candidate for my step up. Hope the #skunk is not a frequent companion to my future fishing trips. Thanks Matt!
I wouldn’t blame that vise if it were a skunk of a day! Looks like a great one to get someone new into tying! That’s for the videos!
Skunk!!!. Nice little travel vise,I’ve been looking at this, thanks for the review.

Good review Matt, good vise for someone else, I'll stick with my regal medallion stainless head. Good luck ladies and fellas!
Skunk
Great video and not a bad little vice for the price especially with that rotary feature.
Based on your informative review it is appeared that this vise does not belong in the skunk category. Thanks for all of your great videos.

Nice review. I don't currently have a rotary vise and this one doesn't look like a skunk at all.
Looks like a great travel vice to make sure you can tie on the go and not get skunked!
Matt, great review and great price. But my magic word is the word "skunk" for the skunk tail hanging on your wall. Tight lines, sir. Steve Johnson.
I am new to tying and this vise looks like a great entry rotary vise. I would like to se a video on how you skin a skunk or other road kill for tying material
Thanks for the review. I’m just starting and would like to upgrade. Skunk.
That looks like a great travel vise, love your videos, keep them coming .
Skunk
Thanks for the insights, Skunk.
Cool vise! Thanks for the review Matt. Atleast there was no skunk today while fishing...lol A couple of gators, but no skunk .

Matt, I likes your Dr Fish review. It would make a great Skunk travel vice. Mike Serlet
Would love to get this vise. Started tying about a year ago and haven’t been able to upgrade to a rotary yet! Skunk
Nice review, I've been looking for an inexpensive travel vise and this might be it. Hopefully I won't get skunked with the flies that I tie on it. Cheers!
