Brilliant collection, thanks for the effort and for posting! And I have to say, that's probably the clearest, cleanest, most exciting Lutoslawski I've heard.
Rosenblatt came out of left field after I was listening to all these classical variations lol. There should be more jazz takes on classic melodies in general after hearing that one!
I wonder if this theme (th-cam.com/video/zcI1UrgqO_0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=iIdwQp5S38Iv1UCA&t=7) from Lawrence of Arabia is also a happier variation of the same theme.
Jong-Hwa's performance of Brahm's variations is a total mess - sounds more like a rehearsal. He doesn't hold a candle against Kissin's flawless performance
Rachmaninoff's will always be my favorite, but the versions by Brahms, Rosenblatt, and especially Lutoslawski I love as well.

Чрезвычайно интересно само по себе.
Lutosławski also orchestrated his variations - look those up too, they’re epic.
2:01 wow that was powerful
Rachmaninoff for the win.
The modern variations are especially clever. I particularly enjoyed the one by The Mad Turk, Fazil Say !
May I suggest adding the Hamelin version? It’s quite the work of art.
Hamelin is there, the last one. They just incorrectly labelled it
10:15 Grieg 😉
Hamelin ❤
Congratulations Witold, you won the cup
Fazil, im sorry but youre getting arrested
You should definitely start by starting the theme, just like all the composers do :)
You missed one - Elgar ;)

Why would you not start one variation earlier with the Rachmaninoff?

I agree that it’s flawed, but it it isn’t a total mess. Kissin is much more refined tho
@@acactus2190yo Evan no way I found you here lmao
@@charleszlu70 that’s crazy bro lol
That recording of Lugansky doing the Rhapsody is absolutely diabolically awful.
I don't undestand his moniker "the aristocrat". He is average at best.
@jedrzejsteszewski6694 some of his recordings are phenomenal but this was just garbage.
@@chrisoconnor9521what’s wrong with it?
@@owenbishop6544 it's just s***e. End of.
