That season was good but Alfred's doubt in Uhtred was one thing that always bothered me lol no matter what he did for Alfred, Uhtred was still untrustworthy Alfred couldn't see pass the fact that Uhtred will always be a Dane and remain loyal to what he was brought up to believe all while being loyal to a Saxon King but that wasn't enough for Alfred
hey Melina - its funny because ive heard so many people say they love Alred, and to be fair, im not well versed in history. so its possible that im just not vested in what he accomplished that partially led to what exists today. but i could never really stand the dude. dont get me wrong, he had his moments. and the actor was great. but i cant stand Alfred lol
@@bridge4 Oh neither am I unfortunately and I love English history but i have not gone back that far lol but yea tv Alfred was irritating to me, like you said he had his moments and the actor did a good job. But it was very frustrating watching Alfred treat Uhtred like nothing but a weapon. And let's not even talk about his wife cause that's a whole other case 😂 she was just dying for Alfred to behead him which in a way Alfred did care for Uhtred but he did it poorly.
haha so true. Aelswith was even worse. to be fair though, except for the beginning and one thing later on in Aegelesburg, she kind of won me over in season 4
Season 3 really pissed me off the most with how Alfred treated Uhtred. The man just lost his wife and Alfred was treating him so terribly like a huge dick. I really wanted Uhtred and Ragnar to destroy and kill Alfred cause honestly he deserved it. Surprised Uhtred still remained loyal.

ive been working on rewatch, script, and videos since last tuesday. but ive fallen far behind schedule. so far, i have season 3 rewatched and scripted, but i have to record that and bust out the video. ill definitely get that done today im actually starting my day from a little bit ago until noon rewatching season 4 on 1.5x. so unfortunately, i wont get that recap done until tomorrow (im thinking about maybe doing 4 before 3 tho. we will see. either way, i plan on getting both done before i marathon season 5 (if i can resist lol)
Aethelflaed and Erik's love story was the most unexpected, yet believably written subplot I have ever cross on TV in recent history. With less nuanced acting it would have just fallen flat. A moment of poetry and tenderness in the midst of all that violence, death, intrigue and war.

So I am taking S5 slow, midway through ep4 and there is much that bothers me. From a production aspect, the screen is so dark that much of the time I can't see who is who. It doesn't bother me that several years have passed, that most actors have not aged, in fact I like that as we can identify them easily. From the beginning Uhtred's goal was Bebbenburgh and he did nothing during all these years of "peace" when he had pretty much the full backing of everyone who now counts? I did not like Brida's story arc, going crazy etc but could understand why the show did this...to bring her back but as this all powerful god-like woman who fails at her very first encounter of the war she wants wield? Manipulating her child and sending her to death whilst Uhtred surely could have saved her, blaming everyone else. Brida is a waste of time, perhaps that's why the author abandoned her? The politics is still intriguing...

ive thought about it, but im hesitant since the Harry Potter content universe is so saturated. and its saturated with people who know it much better than i. back when the books were coming out, i was in college and then early years of work after college. my younger brother and mother would also hype the books and read them as soon as they came out i hadnt seen the movies (except for the first and second), until HBO dropped them the first week of the year in 2019 or 2020 iirc. and i was surprised how much i enjoyed them so to answer your question, its always been on my radar, but i dont know the series well enough to do it justice - at least, not yet
