Nice summary, well done. I’ve seen this show so many times and don’t have enough time to rewatch before the season 5 release. I so appreciate your hardwork!
haha yeah i actually meant to review that before finalizing or redoing this video. after i rewatched season 1, i wrote a script, then rewatched season 1 a second time in full while making this video. (which is partially why ive fallen so far behind schedule). halfway through it, i was like "oops, i already have one of these. i meant to just rewatch and then go to season 2 lol). ah well, sunk cost at this point
I appreciate the recap, it was well done. I am going to watch your others too! Too many people add their opinions and too much unnecessary info into the recap, but you do not. Enjoyed this. Thanks
a couple months ago, i finally added Peaky to my "watch" list and planned on doing recaps in advance of the final season (which came out in february already i think?). unfortunately, never got the time. definitely plan on watching it some day though. thats the one with the Littlefinger actor, right?
After Ubba died, the plot turned to shit. They honored the duel , but then turned on Uthred anyway even though he won, simply because the writers insisted on the saxon army rescuing Uthred in a nonsensical way. Then this weirdo who's in love with Uthred's wife somehow get's to claim victory on his own and King Alfred isn't questioning it, even though he earlier gave Uthred the mission to escape Guthrum and light the signal for Ubba's arriving ships. Uthred getting punished for interrupting prayer and behaving unhinged was ridiculous lazy writing. They literally turned him into an angry teenager for the sake of moving on with the plot. Then he straight up kills his servant over chopped up trees, rejects his son because his mother wants to baptise him and leaves his family behind to raid and plunder poor villages. At that point i thought Uthred went too far and i would only accept him switching sides again for a really good reason. Betraying that cringe lord King with the fortune-teller queen and siding with the danes was actually a great plot twist, but getting betrayed by the danes with which he just allied himself with wasn't necessary and pointless, since he got to keep the queen(for no reason) and another treasure chest anyway. Admittedly watching Uthred returning back to his wife just to cuckolding her was funny. I don't even remember why Uthred went back to Winchester and attended the court for his crimes, but it was probably more bad writing. Who cares though, since we got an epic duel to the death between him and his old war buddy and the only thing that could destroy this newfound hight of the plot, is of course the writers interrupting the duel with an out of nowhere invasion. Somehow everyone forgot about Guthrum and his army and they can show up right on time to stop the duel. Alfred was the first to escape the city, but somehow among the last ones who jumped on boats to the swampland. We are left with the most agonizing and boring point in the story, listening to Alfreds Wife going bananas over the queen who only wants to help. And we watch them kill the biggest idiots denmark had to offer, as they jump into the swamp one by one and take headshots from bows and arrows, which are otherwise never ever used in the show. It's unbelievable how ridiculously bad the writing gets. I don't get why they made Uthred care for his dead son at all, since he didn't seem to care much when he left him. Cheap, emotional scene that only gets the dumbest viewers. After more boring bullshit, we finally get to the battle of Ethandun which had a nice build up with Alfreds speech and a cool shieldwall performance. But sadly mid battle, the writers decided to give us more nonsense drama, by killing unprotected women and children who were camping a few meters next to the battlefield. The pros are the battle scenes, partially entertaining characters and lots of humping and dumping. The cons are nonsense plot twists, inconsistent characters and a lack of bows and arrows. Still 7/10 because i like the female characters, the villains and the protagonist. Also watched 3 episodes of S2 but so far it's been really bad. Even the protagonist is starting to annoy me. I'm unsure if i should continue watching this show.
This show is so underrated
It should be so much more popular
completely agree with that!
