Seeing this bike in such mint condition makes me so happy. I have a 1990 xt600e that I've been riding around and now I realize that this bike is a treasure just like it's other 600 brothers.
As a 49 year-old man I remember these bikes I always liked them but I never realize how special they would become. I'm now a proud owner of an 08 XR650L that is mint with 5000 miles and I absolutely love it.
My brother bought this bike when he was 16. He bought it in 2001 and it was also in mint condition. He loved riding wheelies around town with that bike. He paid $1600 for it back then. Man we miss that bike.
Can’t beat Honda’s 1986 lineup! From their three wheelers to their dirt bikes they were just flat out awesome! I have one of these in my garage with 14k miles on it and still runs like a top!
In the 80's I bought an 83 XL600 from a man named Lee Hughes in the CA Bay Area. He was a dirt-riding legend. Honda gave him the bike for a story, and he rode further north than any motorcycle had ever gone before him, and made it to within a few hundred miles of the North Pole. The bike was on display for a while, then Lee sold it to me. Man, I wish I still had her. She ran perfectly for years.
I'm in love. That's one of my all time favorite bikes. I wish I could afford it but I'm between jobs right now. This sucks. What a dream come true that would be to own this absolutely stunning machine. I remember back in Jr high a friend had one and I drooled over it for a long time until he sold it. I can hardly watch this video.
Stunning beautiful example of the era of the big 600!! Back in 92 I had an XR 600 R a 1987 dual carb with an Al Baker 630 kit Supertrapp exhaust and oversized headers KN Filter man this thing was a beastie!! Love this channel for all the right things motorcycles heaven!! Keep up the good work guys!! 😎😎😎
It's kind of funny I just came back from out west with a 1987 Honda XL 600 with all almost that exact same combination that's been stored for 20 years. Trying to figure out the best jetting situation for those twin carbs as we speak... That was actually the original guys goal was to turn his xl motor essentially into an XR motor into the XL frame with all the modifications
I have the same bike and I'm doing everything I can to bring her back to life!.it really is a struggle finding parts for tho... it does fire 1st kick normally so I like that!
The best Honda models for me.... Glx 50 cub 90 cr 250 and 500 xr 600 and this beauty XLR 600...better than Yamaha s XT 600....ΓΕΙΑ ΣΑΣ from Greece with love 🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷💪🕉️🍄🙏
what a piece of machine !!!!! I only knew her in photos, that bike is a beauty, it's my kid's dream!!!!! GOD bless you Bro, greetings from ARGEN-CHINA 😂😂😎
I put 40k on my xl600r it's my first bike I bought in college still own it and now that I'm "adult" i will rebuild the beast for a trip around the world :) definitely need a full engine rebuild suspension and everything else hahaha but Damm what a amazing machine
I resurrected one of those. Didn't make any money but I broke even and enjoyed the process. I have a 94 XR 250L that still has the original chain and sprockets.
Pristine XL but I cringe when I see your “brass knuckles” potentially hitting the side plate 😧 Living the dream at the museum that’s for sure. Thanks for the videos
Would give anything to have this bike and I really like my 2006 WR 450 I just completely restored but I can't afford it ...wish before I bought my WR you had this awesome honda
I had a transalp 600 didn't use it for a while but being a trusted honda new battery fresh fuel started up straight away the old ones are the best no doubt about it
"Pure Unobtanium right there!" I dare anybody to find another great one!....Mr Kaplan America if it were put to a vote, My vote goes to hanging it up on the wall in your Museum!...I mean I know its meant to be ridden hard and all the time right!?...put it on the wall...cuz that gas tank!...What a cool piece though...Never even seen one of those...love it...
sweet ride , had an 86 xl600r from 88-2000 then Family came and bikes went, now just picked up another same bike but last owner removed the kick auto decomp and just used the manual . so far been able to fire it up 3 times in a month . Any clue where to find that cable and what length it would be? thanks in advance cant wait to get back out and rip on it . Motor is all new inside and redy to go just cant do the hand decomp with only two left fingers that work lol. Thanks again and love that clean runner
Did Jeff Casteen build and DYNO mini Sprint engines for the guys at the old whip city mini Sprint car track in Westfield mass? Years ago I had the opportunity to rip a 750 GSXR mini Sprint and a 1000 GSXR mini Sprint on a freshly shaved sod field and I'm pretty sure it was Jeff who did the engines... I could be wrong 'cause I'm getting pretty old but I'm not as old as Caplan America LOL
Hey Jen I got a question so I just got a 82 xl500r it’s badass but it backfires pretty bad what could cause that? It has a 130 main jet and its bite to 0.25. Thanks

I had a xt500 monster I loved it wish I still had it but I can’t ride like that anymore lol
@@tbone67gthenderson78 I'm sorry brother, it's hurts whenever you have to get rid of a bike like that

Beautiful… 1986, what a year for Honda’s CR500’s VFR1000’s XR600’s
Bought one bran spanking new. Loved it. Took a lot of 3 day dirt road trips all over Washington state with it.
Seems like a 250 would be easier to manhandle around all the brush and trees in the PNW. How was that for you?. I'm in SW WA state.
Wow your packing a revolver, sweet. Nice bike as well.... .
Stunning is right ! Beautiful bike

Best bike ever! I have owned 4 of these one 87 with silver rims and I’m on my 3rd 86 with the gold rims. I regret selling the others.
But happy now in retrospect to think I put the others into good homes with solid riders. It was like rehoming puppies
Had a xl250s xl 125r and an xl 185 with a 125 motor in it, ALL were awesome machines that never failed me in the 80s 90s
It seems like every 1986 dirt bike, three Wheeler, motorcycle, quad looks amazing

Gorgeous bike, the colors are awesome, looks factory fresh.
BEST Looking Bike Honda ever Made !!!!!
My first new bike. Bought it when I joined the ARMY.
The american flag matches the honda color perfect.
Have to love the red, white and blue paint.
I had an XL 500R 1982 Just a bullet proof beast. I now have an 04 XR 400R. Honda really are at the pinnacle of dual purpose bikes.
Does the power of the newer 400 compared to the older 500
@@carlcrasmussen very hard to say as they are close, but I think the early XL 500 Might have a bit more Grunt. But both go great!
The 80's dual sport the best ever made easy to work on bulletproof and goes anywhere you want it to go
The XR lineup stood the test of time. And they can take a serious beating. And they always kick over.
That red engine sets it off 👌
Excellent looking bike Kaplan and staff which with the nice color in my opinion is paying tribute to our blessed nation. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Just got this same bike about 2 weeks ago 15k miles in amazing shape runs beautifully I love these things

Thanks for the memories, I owned one of those your right all around the High Water mark for sure 👍
Badass! First bike my dad let me ride, and my dad passed one of these on to me, same one, my has dual carbs
Always like the red-orange 85 XL350 and Xr350 more. But this comes after. Xr250L's are also special.
Had an 86. Was an awesome bike went good even stock but after $1300 worth of mods it was an absolute BLAST to ride. 70 mph wheelies included
Just bought one, soooo pretty to look at..
What mods are worth doing to it ?
She's an absolute beauty ken cheers!
