I think it says something to an actor's success when their fans are SO in love with them that we will watch ridiculous peanut commercials OVER and OVER again, just to hear their voice. LOL
You are right. I went back and looked and sure enough the nutcracker's eyes roll back in his head like he's about to start drooling or something. Now this is true advertising genius. Planters got their moneys worth from that ad agency, unlike most of the dribble that is being passed off as "good advertising".
Draugr Hessler Did anyone else notice the snow melting on the nutcracker's hat and the drop water running off? At first glance it gives you the impression of nervous sweat rolling off his face.
I watched this again several times, man it just gets me laughing so hard...busting my gut laughing.....jaws creak, eyes roll back in his head, he leans in for the CHOMP.......and he looks like he has peanut fragments in his beard.....THIS commercial is a HOOT.
I was excited for this commercial because I heard Robert Downey Jr. was going to be Mr. Peanut. However, the first time I saw this I about had a heart attack because the nutcracker seriously freaked me out. So creepy.
i just died from laughing.......downey has such an expressive voice, and it KILLS me to hear it coming out of an animated peanut....LOL....this is the best commercial ever....
True story...our local shopping mall had an office where some company took surveys (they paid you) about upcoming products and ad campaigns...I was shown this ad several months before it appeared on TV. I gave it high marks for its ingenuity but I honestly did not recognize either of the famous voices used.
Finally a good, very good, commercial. This I don't mind unlike the usual ridiculous crap the ad companies try to pawn off as witty. Personally I am about ready to dump cable TV because of all the mind numbing ridiculous commercials I am forced to endure. Not only have the commercials become unbelievably stupid in their content but there are more and more. (from 8 to 11 back to back) They are also longer as well. It is a fact that stations are taking TV shows and making them longer (a 30 minute program stretched out to 45 minutes, etc.) so that they can squeeze in more commercials but are also editing out scenes to accommodate more advertising. I have had about as much of that crap as I can stand. I have to pay for cable. I thought I was paying to view programming I liked and not a bunch of advertising I don't like. Even though I like the Planter's Peanut ad, if the station I am watching runs too many of them back to back then I am going to hate even the good ads. The stations need to either stop being so greedy or start charging more for advertising. What they need to stop doing is wearing the viewers out with non-stop, seemingly endless advertising. Oh, and one other thing. Enough with all the mini-cliff hangars. I mean that formula is getting really old. You are watching a show and the a cast member is just about to reveal what you have been waiting for the entire episode and just at the very moment, WHAM !, another commercial break. Then if that isn't bad enough, they make you believe that the show is back on, BUT NOOOO, it's just a mini-interview with the show's cast which turns out to be just another damned commercial advertising the damned show you are trying to watch in the first place. If that didn't piss the viewers off already, the station then goes back to 5 or six more commercials. I have really had enough of that crap. It's time everyone tell the stations that if they keep it up then they will surely lose their audience. I for one am about there already. How about you? TV and all it's commercials today reminds me of the scene from HellRaiser where the guy is being pulled apart with fishhooks on chains and says "and to think, I asked for this." Uhh no, I didn't.
I was absolutely terrified of Mr. Peanut when I was a child! I think it must have come about in this way. West Virginia had its own "close encounter of the third kind" in 1952 with the "Flatwoods Monster." I think I must have seen something about this on TV, and soon after came a commercial featuring "Mr. Peanut." My child's mind connected the Flatwoods Monster with Mr. Peanut, and I had nightmares for years about the natty legume! He still kind of creeps me out!
on my TV i switched the channel to dateline NBC and this is what i see, 0:27... that's all i saw of it. when it ended, all that i could say to my self was, "did i. just fucking. miss that?... did I. just FUCKING. MISS THAT? DIDIJUSTFUCKINGMISSTHAT?!?!!?!?!!?ASDFGHAFDSJ!!!!!!!" yes. it is now on TV.
WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO MR. PEANUT?! LAST I SAW, HE WAS 2D AND VIBRANT. NOW HE'S 3D AND OLDER THAN DICK CLARK! WTF?! But I love that Robert Downey Jr. is the voice. Iron Man, Nissan, now peanuts. Is there anything he can't do?
I’ve seen this commercial a hundred times but I never realized that that was Robert Downey Jr. voicing Mr. Peanut.
I KNEW IT WAS HIM!!! I kept thinking to myself, "Why does Mr. Peanut sound like Tony Stark?"
I think it says something to an actor's success when their fans are SO in love with them that we will watch ridiculous peanut commercials OVER and OVER again, just to hear their voice. LOL
+P.A. Wholock Don't get me started on that. We completely lost our marbles.
Whats wrong with just watching the commercial because its funny?
Did Mr.Peanut really think he could use a monocle, top hat, and a walking stick to distract us from the fact that he isn't wearing pants?
His legs are black so he is wearing pants. But his belly is show
@@hamzahassan7730 so low-rise
"Do you like nuts" Idk why but I find that to be the funniest part
I agree. I laugh so hard.
It's a very Mr. Magoo moment. I loved it too.
Yes i agree
The mole needs to be the new spokesman. And "Do you like nuts" needs to be the new slogan.
I lost it when the nutcracker entered the room!
R.I.P to a legend.
At least, he never wasted his life, he lived it to the fullest.

Omg, the Nutcrackers eyes roll back into his head. That is so frightening.
Absolutely...and the creaking jaws....
You are right. I went back and looked and sure enough the nutcracker's eyes roll back in his head like he's about to start drooling or something. Now this is true advertising genius. I suspected this had happened. Ever since the news that Mr. Peanut had been "A-Salted".

Loki:I have an army Tony:we've got nuts
This is kind of dark, don'tcha think? Lol
Mr. Peanut: Well, you DID kind of crack 12% of my head.
Richard: Wait, *12%?*
Mr. Peanut: An argument could be made for 15.
i understood that reference
Took your advice...I was gracious no matter who showed up this weekend!
That's good. I know we all have that one family member or rival type of person. Kill em with kindness.
When did Tony Stark turn into a talking peanut?
Right before Iron Man.
Dude I absolutely lost it at the end when the mole asks the dead squirrel on the wall if he likes nuts! Literally died
That's Aewsome. That's Robert Downey Jr. I enjoyed the commerical. Hope there are more of them.
Laugh is adorable!
Robert Downey Jr is AWESOME!

There's always been something about an anthropomorphic peanut that really creeps me out; and this just takes it to a different level. 0_0
Awesome stop motion
He's classy

They're showing this in 2017...but...they cut out about ten seconds,Downey's voice has been replaced and the Nutcracker doesn't even get a line.
snarkus63 It was replaced by Bill Hader. Love him too though
