    If you click "SHOW MORE" in the description above your be able to see Links to the Tools 🔧🔨🔧 I use. Also Clickable Chapters📋 📙 throughout the video and other Links 🎬 that may be of interest. I've had a few viewers request where they can buy the tools they see in some of my videos but it's not very clear that the "SHOW MORE" tab has a lot of information in that may be of interest. Admittedly the amazon links are associated with me and I would earn a small commission which helps towards keeping the channel funded.

    Well I finally had the time to replace the pads on my Logan, took off the front wheels and then realized I didn't have a hex 7mm tool :D... So wheels back on and went to the store, bought a 7mm Allan key and cut that with a grinding disk so it would fit into a 7mm socket. It did the job though :D. I used the 28Nm from the comments and also pushed the brake-piston back to avoid messing with the brake fluid. The brakes work fine but have to 'bed in' now. Many thanks for the video, it helped me a lot. Cheers

One point though did you mention in your video the need to press the brake pedal repeatedly to build up pressure on the pads BEFORE taking the car back on the road? Loved the video! Really useful for my first brake pad replacement on my Sandero. I have a question about the torque specs for the guide pin bolts. I've found a Dacia Duster workshop manual, and the torque specs for its guide pin bolts are 34 N.m. Would it be alright to set them to those specs? Since the Sandero is very similar to the Duster.
    Thanks again!

    Just a quick question - why would you not use the c-clamp to fully push the piston back ? Looks like it it does the job just as well as the special tool....

    • @CoatsandGaiters
      @CoatsandGaiters  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question and you normally can but on some pistons they have to be rotated back in as they have screw threads inside for the handbrake. Normally the fronts are just pistons and a C clamp would work fine.

    Hello. instead of loosing the bleeder nipple , can I open brake fluid tank cap to allow brake fluid to go back inside the tank, without building excessive pressure ?

    • @CoatsandGaiters
      @CoatsandGaiters  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you can in theory and probably be fine but technically opening the bleed nipple is safer as your maintaining the correct fluid flow direction and not reversing its normal path.

    • @NewWorldHoarder
      @NewWorldHoarder 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No! If your car has ABS you could potentially backflow rusty, dirty brake fluid the the ABS module which is between the master cylinder reservoir and the calliper. This could be very costly.
      Open the bleed nipple and purge the old fluid, then top up. Brake fluid is cheap so why not just flush and bleed?

    Hi, I'm changing the discs and pads on my 2015 Sandero however no matter what I try I cannot get the wheel back on. It just doesn't want to sit back on the hub, the bottom half seems to be pushed out, only half of the wheel seems to sit on the hub. Do you have any advice? Thanks

      Thank you for the question. Are the new discs exactly the same as the original ones? If you have the new disc in your hand can you physically get it to fit inside the wheel as it should with both the disc and wheel off the car?

      @CoatsandGaiters  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@matthewellis9885 I am a bit confused as the round bit is part of the disc so I'd wonder if there was a slight model variation between the discs. If you had the disc in your hand and the wheel is it actually possible to place the disc inside the inner part of the wheel and put the wheel bolts into it and tighten as normal. Really hard without seeing a photo.

The 19mm bolts on the caliper mounting bracket were completely seized and although I put a blow torch on them and wd-40 they just would not budge to had to end up leaving the old disc on. Is it normal for the pedal to travel more towards the floor before it starts braking? They do work but of course need bedding in. Thanks for your advice

    • @CoatsandGaiters
      @CoatsandGaiters  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Slide Bolts dont normally need to be very tight. For example on the Renault Laguna the Guide Bolts are only 7Nm so basically hand tight. They don't hold the caliper on only allow the caliper to slide on the two bolts like rails.

    I didn't bleed the brakes because I couldn't get the bleed nipple open when I rewound the piston back in, is this absolutely necessary to bleed the displaced brake fluid? Or can this be left out. If this step was skipped what are the implications? Thanks in advance

    • @CoatsandGaiters
      @CoatsandGaiters  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ki Ka hi you should be ok as long as air has entered the pipe work. If you wound the piston back in forcing the fluid back into the reservoir without allowing air in then it should be ok. Technically the way I did it was the way the manufacturer advices. If air entered the pipeline the danger is air is compressible and so your brakes could be non existent or spongy which is dangerous. For future if you spray the bleed nipple with PlusGas penetrating fluid and work the nipple gently back and fourth it should come undone. Don’t snap it though or your have to drill the remains out of the Caliper. They are hollow so somewhat weak.

      @CoatsandGaiters  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kika6718 Hi they are fiddly I have to say. I use a pair of pliers to bend them while pushing. If you persevere your get the hang of them. They are important really as they keep the pads away from the disc preventing unnecessary rubbing of the brake pad. Also you might get more clunking and general movement of the pad and caliper instead of them being as one like they should be. Make sure the holes are clear of any debris with maybe a small drill bit used with your fingers. Whatever you do don't snap the bit in the hole, hence I say fingers. Sometimes if you can get one person to hold the pin in position with the pliers and then you tap gently with a small hammer to get the pin into place.
