- Sculptor, Guy Portelli is next to face The Dragons with his Pop Icons Collection which celebrates some of his favourite musicians. Guy aims to create eighteen sculptures within this collection and he's seeking an investment of £70,000 for 20% of his business. The specific deal he's seeking in The Den is 20% of a hundred sculptures from his portfolio as he sells and creates the same sculpture dependant on sales and demand.
Season 6, Episode 6
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

WOW, the way he leveraged Duncans offer for an extra 10% and actually got it really shows he has a level of business acumen rarely seen in creatives
You haven't met a lot of creatives I take.
@@kirbyhatesincels917 the most creative he's experienced was come up with caps letters for wow 😉
He’s a clever guy the sculptor - love watching the body language and empathy of the dragons - cool sculptures !!
Would he not need copyright/royalty rights from his subjects reducing the profits?Though most seem dead anyway.
This is probably the most impressive pitch i've ever seen, just on the basis of being outside the Dragon's confort zone, upending their expectations, and then proposing something that seems like a clear win.
Duncan's smile of respect for the gentleman's business acumen is charming
it was frown
I didn't see no smile, he looked upset for me
Such a shame Touker wasn't there to invest. He measures his office floor space in Grace Jones heads.
Duncan's expression at 10:58 🤣🤣🤣
It was his look at around the 7:47 point where he realises Peter has just jumped on something he really wanted that made me laugh.
Most art pitches that have been in the den have been a lot of hot air. This one was a good proposal with real substance
Guy Portelli net worth 2 Million
@@Sonnabend00 first of all Google is notoriously inaccurate with these things. Secondly is having a net worth of £2m really that bad? I imagine you aren't even close to that
That Bob Marley sculpture is absolutely magnificent. This man TRULY is a tremendous talent.
Nahhhh he's missed the trick! He would do well by collaborating with Sandy Andy the sculptor. And they could open a bar by the beach or something 😅
Found it creepy tbh
Bob Marley WAS 'creepy'.
I recognised John Lennon straight away.@@BillBiggs1
I saw this years ago so didn't bother watching it again. He has done well since then
Glad to hear that
Finally. A title which does not spoil the who episode. Yay!!!
That’s a man with a plan right there, good luck to him
Time to find out which dragon has been unusually quiet.
😂
Easy... Debra in this one (but she still does her nodding and finger pricking😅)
This artist ended up making millions with the Dragons
impressive and accessible art pieces.. need more of these on Dragons Den
sod working anything out, buy a gallery and charge people to use it for their things, then charge them 50% of anything they sell
Lol they have to build up reputation and following over a number of years and be able to attract a number of buyers with a big marketting expense. It's not a case of calling your garage a gallery and charging people 50% to sell things out of there
He looks like the homeless love child of Richard Branson and Todd Boehly
☕☕
He looks like a twin brother of Richard Branson who's spent most of his years on crack sugar and pharmaceutical drugs😅
Damm!
After reading your comment, whenever I look at him, I only see Richard and Todd! 😅
😂😂😂
Lollll
I love his work
Gorgeous sculptures!
A very talented person who KNOWS he has talent! If he was turned down here, there would be 5 times more investors knocking on his door!!!!!
Did the three dragons get a return on their investment?
Entrepreneur: Thanks Duncan! 😝👍
for all the business talk, this pitch feels more like "rich people gambling"
He is THE Guy!
He has got the real business Acumen.
I wonder if he has ever run in to copyright difficulties with his work.
Massively 😅but shoosh, it's what the investment is for😅
Uh, why would he? You might be surprised but your face/name isn't copyright-able in this context. That's not how copyright laws work otherwise half of the existing art would have to be torn down 😂
@@ZazooEel57 I'm pretty sure there are laws protecting a person's likeness and brand. You can't just go sell products which have a clear resemblance to a famous person.
@@someonesgoat your joking right?
@@someonesgoat no such concept exists in any legal system I know of
I loved those scuptures
The initial look of bored "lights on, no one at home" indifference on the faces of Duncan and Deborah, is amazing.
Art is precious!
Nanden Berg Is it- Tell me, what is art?
If I had the dough, I’d have one of the Grace Jones’ in a flash
Impressive 😊
I thought it was David Icke when I first saw the thumbnail 😂

@@devonshovel230 😅😅😅
Bravo. How did this one go?
i am a sculptor- i sculpt chips into interesting curved and folded shapes such that they can easily fit into my mouth
Sounds clever... and artistic. But I don't think you will get an investment.
The first thing I thought was 'Richard Branson'
Touker could had given him offices for free to showcase.
Anyone else eating while watching this?
No. But I was seriously thinking about it.
aldis pizza n garlic bread
never watched without eating lol
Yes!
yes ahahaha
Wow Richard Branson really let himself go....
LMAO
lol!!!!
Anyone got real info on how they got on??
Google it - he has done very well since that show which was years ago
I was certain that was branson
Pretty sure this is a reupload 😮
Am interesting episode
I own a piece of his work
He should start a business of putting people to sleep!!
That’s why it’s a good thing that he is a sculptor and not an elocutionist.
Also: I find that he’s just laidback and relaxed.
Why couldn't prince William look more like Peter Jones?
This guy is the life of the party. He needs to settle down lol
Or switch to decaf!
ha ha-does no one else see how crap he is...
This ain’t new why repost
Theo The Foetus
Just in time for dinner!
Oh no, I forgot to put the egg in...
Me too! What a coincidence 😂
Leveraged!!!
WIG!!
Deborah made the right decision
God if you had enough money to buy one invest in him now.
Of course u take 3dragon expertise than 1
Anyone noticed how cross eyed the announcer is in the intro?
He's blind
@@theodddish1846 Fr? He actually?
@@LordSolidusI no lol
@@theodddish1846 Bollox 🤣
One of his eyes said "I'm out"
The Toe Cutter...
I think his cost base makes no sense but I don't know anything about this business.
Deborah is such a fool . All she had to do is invite her friends to a party ffs
Copyright infringement for sure. He's not just capturing the celebrities' likeness, he's using their actual name. They deserve their royalty. This guy is going to get sued and I am surprised no one saw it. He's capitalizing on existing artists' work and leveraging it to boost his own. If it were just some woman's head, it would sell for nothing.
WOw! This guy is ahead of our time.
" How can I become a millionaire?.hmmmm?
I know, let me create these sculptures and that will Make me a millionaire!"
Jesus, this clip is 15 years old! What's the point?
rich people investing to take money from other rich people lol
🤓😜 nice wig 🤪🤑
Why would people be interested?because I'm a major artist with a World wide reputation Deborah
And even better, each of those pieces costs no more than £50 quid each to produce.
Nah, that's a joke. In raw materials, possibly. But you're forgetting about the amount of hours of labour it would take to produce one of these, not even to mention the electricity bills, heating, storage, etc.
@@LordSolidusI And the skill. Edward would have to use up quite a lot (and I mean a lot) of brass to make one of those sculptures, assuming he's got the artistic talent.
I will keep a lookout for you in the Apple store and at the car dealership, haggling to pay only for what the raw materials cost.
You do it
@@LordSolidusI not to mention the tools and capital equipment
Well those are v poor 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅

@@LordSolidusI Agreed. It also makes his piece more valuable.
Guy... poor guy after his run in with Evan Davis after the pitch, who thought it would be funny to smear the Grace Jones head with blueberry jam and use egg noodles for her hair. The entrepreneur went ballistic at Evan, who then picked it up and danced about with it on top of his head.
hahahahaha
Seems like a grift.
Sculptors are just frustrated artists with zero talent.
Bob Marley and Africa was he ever in it he’s Caribbean
Richard Bohely from Kent
Subjective not objective talent, but a talent to make money.
He has got billions in the bank .
is it a money laundering scheme
Wonder if he ever thought about getting a proper job!
he's probably doing better than you with your "proper job"
I don't think he has with all the money he makes from doing art exhibitions.
@@theodddish1846 i agree well spoken
Wonder if you ever thought about not being jealous !
This is the most jealous comment I've ever seen. Why should he even consider getting a "proper job" for a tiny fraction of the earnings he gets doing what he loves?
