Rob has one more quick project before he gets started on the suspension install for his Gladiator. The Rugged Ridge AmFib Snorkel System looks great out of the box, so what could make it better? Getting it painted in Sting Gray to match the Jeep of course! Check out how the snorkel turned out when it came back from the body shop. Which is your favorite, the low profile intake or the full height intake?

The paint match is a game changer! Looks awesome! High mount for sure
For the low mount I would paint the top where the four screws go, but leave the bezel black so it matches the high mount. Looks great either way.

Paint REALLY makes it a finished job. I like the low profile, but the high mount is fantastic with the paint!

The pain match is perfect and really ties it together! I agree with @manfred that I would also paint the top of the low mount where the screws go in, but even the way you have it still looks cool.

Agree I need more info! I bought this same set up and have had 2 separate shops refuse to paint it, saying the plastic won’t hold paint.

Good idea Rob. One of our listeners pointed us to this video. For the 2021 Jeep Talk Show Gladiator I think we're going to go with the cowl piece painted PRC Firecracker Red but leave the tube and top piece black.
The high mount color matched is killer. Looks insanely beautiful. Even if it's not functional, it looks so amazing.

Color matching was a spot on decision, Rob! Brilliant! You want to get rid of those wheels/tires? I would love to take those off your hands and put them on my Sting-Grey 2-door sport.
Paint match a plus mid/low mount looks best
I like the paint match look for the fender one. The high snorkel looks ridiculous unless you're actually in a situation that requires it.
Rugged ridge suggests that you DO NOT install the hose clamps on the top or bottom. You can install them on the left or right side. It caused fitment issues with my 2 door wrangler JL turbo. It squished the plastic allowing air in. Be very modest with tightening those clamps too as the plastic used warps easy.

Any chance you could encourage Rugged Ridge to work one of these up for the Mojave? You’d think modifying it for the Mojave would be a priority as it’s a desert truck and would really benefit from the cold air intake.

I would like to see if is possible to install on Wrangler EcoDiesel. The reason why I ask is because the intake is the other side.
What is the advantage of modding that cowl foam block and reusing it?
Love the low mount because you can still fold the windshield down. About how much would it have costed you to only do the low mount you think?
I just bought mine. It comes with a high and low mount, which is nice. I bought mine from a reseller for 500 and swapped a K&N the same day.
What advantages do you get with the low profile side mount?
It looks really good painted the same color.
The cowl part must have been sanded, I painted mine and it looks OK but the texture bothers me.
I should have sanded it smooth first.

I have the Holly CAI and from what I can see it looks like it would work with this snorkel. Dose that seem to be the same conclusion you have too?

Looks fantastic. on my to do list eventually to have mine painted. Did you any prep work, or did a shop take care of it all?
Oh and I thought I would go with the low mount, but after doing the work, I like the high mount better, and how I have it today.
I used a local body shop for the paint and prep work. It didn't add that much extra to the cost to let the shop do all the prep, knocking down the texture on a few parts of the snorkel.
Will this fit a JL with the factory option "cold air induction". IE different larger air box?
Hi Rob. I have a 2019 JL Rubicon with a gobi stealth rack and was wondering if the amfib snorkel would fit with along the cowl. Additionally I have a genesis dual battery kit and was wondering if there would be any clashing with the snorkel under the hood. Pls let me know. Thank you

Check out the Ronin factory antenna. They're really stubby. I have one on my JL.
Will this rugged ridge amfib snorkel system void the jeep warranty?
How much clearance do you think you gained with just the low mount? 6"? Also and concerns/troubles with flooding the low mount if charging through puddles/mud? Thanks. Color match looks great. Great video, well done.
It would only be a few inches at best with the low mount, but the advantage would be drawing in cooler air from outside the engine compartment.
There would always be a chance of flooding the intake with water when "charging" through a water or mud puddle. The correct way to ford a water crossing is at a deliberate but controlled pace to create a "wave" in front of the Jeep as you move through the water.
Has anyone put this snorkel on a tj? Is there modifications I need to make to install this type of snorkel on my 2001 wrangler
I want to accent pieces with the same dash red but can't find the color code for the the life of me.
I don't like the fake low mount intake left on with the high mount install. It doesn't make sense to have two intakes so why make it look like there are two? I'd rather see the high mount alone without it look like you now have two. That being said, I love the color matching you've done. Definitely takes it to a whole other level.
Stupid question, I have a JK . Is the JL so different under the hood that this kit could not be adapted for the use in a JK? I don't want to notch my hood, and I don't want to take whole front end apart and snake a tube down to the rocker panel then back up to the airbox!.
No such thing as a stupid question! I don’t think it would work on a Jk really. I think you’d spend way more time and money than it’s worth.
The low profile is great - but Rugged Ridge is missing out, they should make one for the drivers side.
in funcionality whats the difference between low and high mount?
One is lower, one is higher.
I have contacted 2 local body shops and they both have refused to paint these parts saying that the paint will not stay on. they have told me that there is no way to sand and prep the surface and that they are not made to be painted. They say that it just wont last. Can anyone tell me if they have any experience with these being painted and holding up to car washes and mild off road activity?
Where can I get one that fits the Mojave or 392? The cowels are different
Unfortunately Rugged Ridge does not offer one for the 392 or Mojave

Not sure but just installed mine today it covers about half of the battery
According to the Genesis website, there should be no problem with this brand.
The low mount should have been colored matched as well, except for the intake screen. I have to say that I do not like the snorkel. because of color non-match color. I think you made it look like it belongs. Want to bring me a billet silver colored version for my LE?

I don't understand how the low mount works, it doesn't face the airflow.
If you are thinking of something like a ram air intake, that is not needed. The stock air intake is actually under the hood and does just fine as far as getting enough air into the engine. The snorkel facing the front isn't about creating a ram air intake as much as it is simply more appealing of a look (IMO). As for the low mount, it still allows the intake to draw in cooler air by having it draw from outside the engine bay. Hope that helps explain it.

High mount is nice and all but it looks ugly because it has 2 vents with one not functional i prefer the low mount that is unless i go windshield deep water crossing🤣
I think the inlets would look a bit better painted red to match rubicon lettering but leaving the black mesh
