I’ve used spin induced throw for years when throw is needed for balls that are separated and there’s some interference. Your example of SIT with balls touching was very helpful.
This is one of my favorite things to teach. Especially with a set of balls that are frozen together at an extreme angle and making it full table length. I would show how to use both Cut (Directional) and Spin induced throw to make a seemingly impossible shot. Speed is everything.

BTW, on my oversized 8’ table, I can throw a frozen ball one Diamond from 7’ into a corner pocket. Slow and 45 degrees with spin.
